I bought these shoes about a year ago and all went well after a couple months of use, the outsole started to come apart, the construction is not very good, I didn't even use them for hiking or something like that just walking, If your looking for a good lasting pair don't buy these... Don't go for the cheap ones like these they're not worth the money spent. I bought a pair of Keen shoes to replace them and I must say they're awesome.

I usually love New Balance shoes, and buy a new pair once a year, but these shoes began falling apart at the three month mark. Now, at five months, I have to replace them because the toe caps have completely split all the way around the shoes.

I like New Balance shoes because they have a wide toe box, lots of wiggle room. This model is tighter through the toe area than other New Balance models. Squished my little toes. They are being returned.

These shoes had a reasonably little amount of inner arch support (unlike the Asics Gel Neo Walker 4s which had way too much) but the deal killer was in the toe width - something I very rarely find to be an issue with any shoe. But it was a major issue in this shoe. Also, I checked the various shoe profiles (apparently called "lasts" which seems to me like a terrible name for what it describes) and NB does sell shoes with wider toe boxes, but those shoes all have the same sort of ridiculous arch support that feels like a mountain range (like the Asics I mentioned), so none of them will work for me. Unfortunately this means that, for me, NB literally does not sell a single shoe that would fit correctly. I did email NB directly and suggest they offer a "last" with a wider toe box but with reasonable arch support. We'll have to see if they do. If you lost your 2 smaller toes on each feat due to an accident with fireworks when you were younger, buy these. If you still have all of your toes, then keep looking.

I purchased these shoes after all the great reviews! I like the fit and comfort and the quality of NB! But after 6 months of daily walking 4 miles I find that the sole of the shoe is coming unglued! Should last longer NB!

Something's happened in the last year that has changed the way New Balance shoes fit in regard to width and toe box room. After wearing several different models of New Balance shoes in 9.5 (4E) for many years, I "settled" for a 659 in the same size. They are tight enough to be somewhat uncomfortable but moving up to different sizes, widths and trying different models yielded no better fitting alternatives. I mistakenly thought by buying this shoe and wearing it for awhile (I've been wearing daily for two weeks now) would loosen it up enough to no longer cause discomfort. I was wrong. The shoe remains tight and I will no longer wear it. These shoes still control pronation in the manner that benefits me, but that's my biggest positive about this shoe and the other New Balance shoes I've had/tried on.

Let me start this review by stating that I am very tough on shoes. For years I wore Converse/lower end New Balance/Vans/etc. Usually had to replace them every 3 to 4 months. I've had better luck with hiking oriented shoes as the greater durability & design seems to suit my day to day use. I've seen the best performance from the Merrrel Moabs on that front. I purchased these expecting similar durability and possibly increased comfort, compared to the Moabs, at a lower price. At this point I've had them for about 3.5 months and while they are without a doubt one of the most comfortable shoes I've purchased, they have already blown out to point of needing replacement. Sorta sucks that they met their end so quickly, or at least much more quickly than I was expecting.

New Balance has been our go to shoe company for the whole family for years, sadly not anymore. We ordered a favorite shoe in 4e and when it came we were so disappointed. It was a full 1/2 inch narrower in the fore foot and considerably narrower in the mid foot and heel. We had to return it as unwearable.

These shoes are treated with something that made me itch! They were intolerable! I appear to a member of a growing number of people who react to something that is being used to treat most new apparel. It started with shirts and then became a problem with pants. These are the first shoes I have reacted to! If you are a member of this group, do not buy these!

Out of the box, the rubber toe guard was unglued in the center of the left shoe. Crappy workmanship. Not typical my experience with New Balance. Ran slightly wider than a normal NB as well.

This shoe is comfortable and I've enjoyed wearing it as my normal day-to-day shoe. However after about a month and a half of wearing it, I noticed some gum or something stuck on the bottom of the shoe, and when I tried removing it, I discovered that part of the sole was peeling off with it. I walk a lot but didn't expect it to start coming apart in less than 2 months.

I've owned this exact shoe before in the same size. There is no way this was a 4E! This is the second sneaker I've ordered from New Balance (previously wonderful for making wide widths) that was ridiculously narrower than marked. What's going on over there?!

I have purchased many pairs of New Balance from Zappos. This is the first pair that was not true to size or true to width. Much too big.

I need a very wide shoe to accommodate bunions. New Balance 4E is as wide as I can find. I wear them with a custom orthotic, so I cannot comment on what arch support they natively provide. The shoes are comfortable enough, though If they available in a 5E, I'd take it. The uppers seem well constructed. Unfortunately the treads of both shoes started delaminating from the sole withing about 10 days. They came unglued faster that I could keep repairing with shoe goo. The shoes were completely unwearable within 2 months. I've never owned such a shoddily built pair of shoes. Still, being behold to the width that is difficult to find, I'm trying a second pair of NB, in a slightly different style, hoping the construction shoddiness was a limited event.

If you have a normal width foot, be very careful of the 659. I've always worn a D width. Both the 9 and 9 1/2 I tried were a little short and NO difference in the width, WAY too narrow, painfully so. So I have to go to a 4E? No way, that's nuts. Something's way wrong at New Balance. If you see an NB shoe you like, be sure to deal with a good company like Zappos that allows exchanges.

I purchased these in April 2014. Before the end of November the sole was tearing off. I would not recommend buying these shoes.

I've worn NB shoes for many years but this is absolutely the worst pair I've ever bought. I wore these for only 2 weeks and the first time they got wet, they became unglued at the front. What a waste of money. The shoe box would probably last longer! I'll definitely have second thoughts about buying anything NB brand again. I feel that their quality has been declining for several years.

Is it me or has the quality of New Balance products gone down? This is the 3rd pair of NB shoes that has fallen apart. I have been a long time repeat customer (15+ years) of NB, but no more. The material of the shoe basically fell apart on the top of the shoe and developed a hole...this after about 4 months. Very disappointed. Now I need to feed a new maker of Wide (EEE) size sneakers.
