Sloppy on my foot causing it to rub when you wear them, have purchased this style many times and haven't ever had this problem

I ordered these because Reef has great reviews. They fit horribly the toe area your food slides so far forward it leaves space in the back while you're walking out of the front of them!

I got my first pair of Reefs in 2004/2005. They were incredibly comfortable from the first moment I put them on. They were soft and cushioned and fit perfectly. I wore them every weekend, on vacation, to the beach (in the water), everywhere! I wore them until the soles finally cracked, & even then I hated to throw them away. I was excited to order a new pair, but disappointed when I put them on. Although these were the same size (& style) as my last pair, these were too big, & were much rougher on the bottom of my foot than my last pair - my old ones were soft.

I can't wear these as they won't stay on my feet because the strap is too big! I've bought these for years, but no more. It was no fluke that others are complaining about this same issue, the strap sizing has changed to fit larger than normal feet, too bad.

Product was delivered as promised. But, had to return them. The flops were seriously too big even though ordered in same size as the other 2 pairs I have worn and loved for a long time. Perhaps they sent me a men's size 7 rather than woman's?

I have been purchasing reef fanning sandals every year for the last 10 years. When I received my sandals this year the fit was totally different than the ones I've bought in the past. The length was fine however the straps are so big the sandals flap around on my feet. I'll be looking for a new brand or style if the fit does not improve on my next pair.

Right sandal is not breaking in like the left and literally cuts off circulation to my foot. I've always worn Reef and have never had this problem. Still trying to break them in 2 weeks later but can only wear them for 1 hour at a time. Bummed

Cut too high on my instep. Wore the sandals around the house and the strap cut my feet.

This is my husband's 3rd pair of Reefs. He loves the fit, cushion, and air bed. He doesn't use the bottle opener but purchased this style because of the heel cushion. So the comfort and support have never been an issue. The first pair fell apart on him mid deployment which wasn't a huge issue because they were 2 years old. He did however cry because you can't exactly run down the street and buy a new pair of Reefs when you are deployed in the middle of the desert. They had to leave their sleeping area, and walk to porta potties, and shower areas. So were easy to slide on at 2am to walk a few 100 yards to use a porta potty. So I got tired of hearing him cry, wanting a new pair, so I sent him a new pair in a care package. He was a happy soldier the rest of his deployment. He came home and only wore flip flops on weekends.Well all was good until they started to stink like crazy! I assumed it was my husband's feet and maybe he had a bad case of athletes feet since his feet are stuck in combat boots 12 hour a day with sweaty feet probably growing enough bacteria to wipe out a small country. Well I found it odd that his boots that can never be washed only outside leather cleaned didn't stink. I checked his pt shoes that he runs in every morning that get soaked in sweat that his body releases at a rate that would cause sever flooding in low lying areas. So it lead me backto what is causing these flip flops to stink! I followed care instructions & cleaned them. The smell went away but a few days later it was back assaulting my sense of smell. It's great the Army issued him a gas mask, cause I needed it while he was wearing his reefs. I was a evil wife and trashed those stink bombs while he was at work one day. I cried about trashing $5 0 reefs, he cried until I got him this pair a few days later, everyone was happy until they started smelling like the last ones after 2 weeks of owning them. Ive asked around and found out several others have the same issue with their Reefs.

This is 3rd pair of Fannings. The 1st 2 were gifts, black colors. I ordered the Vintage Brown color. They have a chemical odor that will not go away. I can't keep them in the house. I set them out in the hot tropical summer sun whenever I am not wearing them which is most of the time. It's been over a week now. The black ones had no odor. These do. What's the difference? The black ones were made in China. The Vintage Brown made in Viet Nam.

My recent purchase was my fifth pair of women's Fannings in probably a dozen years....these have always been my favorite go-to sandal - but sadly, no longer the case. It seems the styling/manufacture has changed and the sandal is now designed for a wider foot with a fit that is not comfortably snug. My foot slipped around in the sandal. These will be returned.

The strap on this year's Fanning sandals is super wide. They fit so loose there is no way they will stay on my feet. I wear an 8 medium width, very average. They use to fit nice and snug making it a fabulous sandal with incredible support. Why change it when it was so great for so many years?? Definitely returning them.

UPDATE: My old pair of Fanning had served me very well for years, but the bottoms were finally worn out. So, I went to a local store to try on a new pair. Unfortunately, the straps on the new ones are too tight for me to even fit my feet in. I thought maybe it was only that one pair, but it was not. There were 3 pairs of size 9 at the store, but I couldn't fit into any of them. I went to another store, but I still couldn't fit into any of the 4 pairs available. I was recommended to try a pair of size 10. I was able to fit my feet in, but they were still very tight. Eventually tried a pair of size 11. They felt better, but they were just too long in length. So I gave up in despair, and got myself a pair made by another manufacturer.

I finally put my old pair of Reef's (machado Low's) out to rest after about 7 or 8 years. I wore them non-stop and unless you really looked close at them, you couldn't tell. Beaches, wild parties, days walking around NYC, and even a handful of mild hikes and they help up great. I purchased the Fannings because I figured I would get similar if not better durability from Reef this many years later. After wearing them ONCE for about 8 hours at a barbeque over the weekend, I noticed that the colored Reef logo under my heel had almost completely worn off. This is very disappointing to me - I know this is mostly cosmetic, but when you pay a premium price for something, you expect premium quality. To me, this seems like an early indication that I will be replacing this much sooner than the 7 or 8 years I had my previous Reefs for. Especially given the fact that this is such a popular model and I was merely sitting/walking around a dry backyard, I feel like this should have been addressed as I cannot imagine I am the only one that has experienced it. Overall, it was just a big disappointment when I had expected the same quality I had experienced with my first pair of Reefs - to the point of not even looking at any other brands when it was time for a replacement. It seems that over the past years, Reef may have began to cut corners to increase their profit while still maintaining their premium price.

I use these to do pretty much anything besides running or excising. I've purchased over a dozen pairs of women's fanning from different years and while I found last years models to be true to size and just the right amount of support and the correct wideness. The biggest problem with this years sandals was that they are 1/4" wider in the strap than last years to the point that they don't hold my feet but they are flopping around everywhere, and that's after a year of wearing last years pair and add to that that last years pairs straps have stretched quite a bit since I bought them. I feel so disappointed since these have been my go-to "shoes" for the last 4 years, but there is no way I can use the pair from this year, so I sent it back. I sure wish you could return to the same size/width as previous years. In the past, I have always recommended this style to my friends, this year I will do the opposite, unless someone has a very wide foot.

There wasn't enough arch support. The bottoms of the flip flop was very hard and hurt me feet. Wasn't impressed for the amount of money they were.

I am the owner of a dozen or so fanning a. I bought my girl her first pair and she loves them. So I ordered a second pair for her same size 9 women's fanning but they are way bigger. She has wore other for a considerable amount of time and they are way smaller then the new one. I am and will continue to be a reef fan. But not happy with her last pair

I had a Fanning sandal that finally wore out. I was looking forward to receiving my new sandals which turned out to be defective or manufactured differently from 3-4 years ago. I am a perfect size 8 & these were falling off me & were uncomfortable.

I've owned around 5 pairs of the Reef Fanning flip flop. This is the first time I've had a complaint. The strap across the top of the foot leaves a black mark on the top each foot. It's very hard to scrub off and your foot looks dirty until you do. Hoping this problem is addressed as I have always loved the previous Reefs.
