I've been looking for a comfortable pair of cowboy boots and, after reading the reviews, decided on these. Following reviewers' advice, I ordered a half size smaller. I could barely get my feet into these boots (without socks!) and they pinched and squeezed the sides and tops of my feet. I only had them on for 30 minutes and my feet were aching. It took my husband a few minutes to pull them off for me (I couldn't). So bummed I have to send them back, but I think my feet are too wide/high arch for this brand. As usual, I ordered from Zappos.

Heel too wide -
Great looking boot and has a beautifully soft leather...but they run large and the heel is really wide while the toe box is snug. Will have to return because there is no way to wear them without getting blisters on the heel.
I'd also recommend:
santa boots are a perfect fit; true to size

Let me start with this is my 5th pair of these exact boots boots since 2001. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said I've got 15,000 miles out of each of the first four pairs. The advertising says "farm to festival" and it was no lie. They have been shitkickers on 5 continents and danced in festivals from Norway to St. Martin. They get retired when I've walked the tread smooth. Do you get that I love these boots?
All that to say, pair number five is *not* those boots. They look right, and fit right, but the outsole is different. To be fair, if I'd looked for reviews I would have seen that, but it never crossed my mind with a boot I already loved. They're significantly lighter, and the tread is hard plasticy instead of squishy rubbery. The old material recovered from anything, cactus spines and broken glass, you yanked it out and the rubber kind of "healed" itself. I wore these 2 miles, hit something and have a puncture that seems to be a part of my boots now.
I'll wear them out since I waterproofed them before I realized the outsole wasn't an upgrade, but all told I'm pretty bummed.

Disappointed. The sole seam tore only 3 months of wear. The last Ariat boots my husband owned held up for 5+ years. Must be a change in manufacturing.

this would've been my second pair my first pair I loved them they fit perfect so I expected that on the second pair. It was so far from it they didn't fit right at all. The quality wasn't there at all. I'm sorry to have to write this, but I'm assuming you want me to be honest. I was very disappointed.

These were my third pair but now suddenly they seem to narrow. I don't have a wide foot so I don't know what happened. The pair before that cake y similar so it's not a one off. Thankfully calf size is still good but they are no longer as comfortable as they used to be.

Got a over a year ago and the the soles on the bottom of the boots are already wore out. I'm really disappointed at them because I've had got yours boits before. And never wore it like that. And remind you I did not wear fall summer long. I just started wearing again. Probably, in September.

I love these boots. They are comfortable and fit well, but the back of the right boot tore on me. They dont seem to hold up well.

I could not get my foot into the boot. Nor could either of my daughters whose feet are narrower and no longer than mine

Between my wife and I we have had y pairs of Ariat Terrain boots. They are excellent when new. Lightweight, very comfortable and excellent for walking. But they only last for 2 years of moderate use at best. Then they start falling apart. The soles detach from the leather on the sides. The toe caps crack and start detaching. They never last long enough for the soles to wear out.
But they are great while they last.

Are these a return? Fresh out of the box and the toe is scuffed. Pretty disappointing

I had to go down multiple sizes. I also recieved multiple boots where the stitching was missing.
I love the appearance of these boots so much but it should also be noted that it will not be possible to get them reheeled there for not a good investment for myself.

I have purchased this boot many times, it is my go to , the fit is always spot on and offer great arch, support and have never had an issues with them until recently. I purchased a pair back in December, they started peeling at the toes, I was using cleets on them so I thought it was that. I bought a second pair in March, they look nice enough to wear to work (I work in an office setting) I babied these. Only wore them to work, these boots never saw a hike but they too are peeling on the toe and actually starting to come apart. Very disappointed to say the least.

They fit just fine, but straight out of the box they're not just scuffed they're scratched. To the point it looks like a cat toy. Other review photos don't look this distressed..

These boots have seriously dropped in quality and the fit has changed. I have this same model of boot from like 20 years ago (eek) and they look almost brand new. I recently tried 4-5 pairs of the Fatbaby Western I and II and returned them all. The leather feels cheap and thin, and the boots lack the firm structure and weight they had in the past. The sizing/fit is weird - am either stepping out of them or they're too tight, even with the half sizing. I contacted customer service for recommendations of other styles that might be better for me, but I never heard back. Was an enthusiast of this brand, but sadly no more.

This my 2nd pair of the Terrain boots. Loved my first pair - they were sturdy, waterproof, long lasting through walking everyday rain, snow, shine. No problems. My 2nd pair, not so much. The first time in wet weather, and wet grass, my left foot was soaking wet, right foot just damp. Still... Such a disappointment. I want to love them forever, but this pair just isn't the quality I expected based on my first experience. Did I just get a pair that missed QC check?

Comfortable and look great. However I've only had these for about 8 months and the sole is already separating. I do not wear these often and they never see work or anything other than casual use. Bought them on vacation in gatlinburg so of course I no longer have the recipt or ability to go back to thw store they were purchased from.

I ordered a pair of boots in the wrong size that was my fault but I did an exchange and no where in the exchange did I ask for it to be changed to wide calf I only asked for the size to be changed and when I called to see if they could fix it all I could do is return them and this is the second time I am without the boots when I need them first time was my mistake and the second time was theirs and they couldn't even fix it. They need a better return policy. They have amazing boots but when/if they fix their mistakes then I will give a better review.

I had to return them, I have high arches and I couldn't fit my foot. If you have high arches you may need to size up or go to a different brand

Super comfortable! I loved the black ones so much I went and bought them in brown. The only issue is that the brown ones seem to be scuffed or discolored right out of the box. Really disappointed.
