You get what you pay for with these boots. I got 2 pairs of these for my game 2006 through a hike. The first pair got me to Vermont. The 2nd pair got me to Maine and I still wear them to this day almost 5 years later. They have roller eyelets. so the strings pull equal all the way up when you tie them (no tight spots) with the brass rollers in mind they are on the heavy side. but not heavy like most. also know the first pair that I wore out. Not a single stitch come loose. Only the bottoms worn flat.

Prayers answered!
Let me start by stating that I have to very young & very energetic Labrador Retrievers that love to run, swim & hike all over New England. Even though we are not taking on the summit of Mt. Everest we do get out daily for an average of 10 to 20 miles a day. We can be anywhere from the shore of Cape Cod to the Hills of the Berkshires or the White Mts. of N.H. on any given day. These boots were very comfortable right out of the box and continue to be. Arch support was my #1 concern and these have very good arch support. For personal reasons I did add arch inserts a little latter on as I have blown mine out in the past with other hikers. These boots are not heavy or bulky and the stand up very well to all the hazards & conditions that come our way. They remain waterproof after numerous times hiking through streams, making our way through swamps and encountering many bogs. Hiking & climbing with them I don't feel as if I'm wearing cinderblocks just so my feet could be protected against the elements. I have been very pleased with these boots! Prior to these Asolo PM 220 GV's I was very concerned that I would not be able to find a dependable, comfortable and weather proof hiker that would allow me to keep sharing the great outdoors with my four legged boys! The basement stairs were full of hikers that were drying out and on their last legs before the trash. They even look decent and clean up nicely.

I bought these to replace a pair of Lowas that shed their sole on the last hike. The polyurethane foam, like used in these, disintegrated, leaving the barely worn vibram outsole dangling in a foot tripping spectacle. After ordering the Asolos, I read 1 star reviews on these boots on Amazon, complaining of the same issue. Called Asolo customer service in hopes of hearing that the issue had been corrected. Was told "We like to make our shoes from natural materials, and the break down process is inevitable". Well, I don't use warm, waterproof hikers often enough to wear them out in 3 years, and when I take a $300.00+ boot out of the closet for a walk, I'd prefer they didn't fall apart on my feet. When you research your purchase, click the 1 star reviews and you see that many are having this issue with different brands. Not sure why the shoe industry is trying to pass this BS off as the new normal, but these are going back and I'm not spending any more hard earned cash on boots with history of sole disintegration. I have a battle scarred pair of 30 year old Vasque Highlanders that are still in one piece, though the solid Vibram soles are well worn. For me, a boot should last until the soles are worn as long as the leather is cared for, and then should be re-soleble and used for years longer. I agree with the reviewers that say the inserts in these boots are poor and uncomfortable, and my feet were hot in them just sitting at my desk.

It seems no one has reviewed this boot since 2011, and apparently the quality has severely changed for the worse. First let me say, I love the way this boot looks, and it feels solid with well made materials, from the brass roller lacing system to full grain leather upper and gortex lining. But, the horribly weak spot is the sole, or more specifically, the polyethylene foam and glue that holds them to the boot. After less than 2 years of light use (160lb 5'11") with only about 50 miles of backpacking, with~45lb pack, both soles began to separate. I contacted Asolo, but was told the warranty on these boots was only 1 year but they could possibly have them resoled but with a GENERIC vibram sole through a secondary resoling outfit!! At this price point, I expected more from the Asolo than a bandaid for what was clearly a manufacturing defect. However, as I read other reviews on this boot, it seems to be a recurring theme, which makes me wonder why Asolo isn't taking care of these defects head on and replacing the soles with ORIGINAL vibram soles when this occurs. I guess they figure it'll just go away and they'll write off those customers who got burned, but I believe I owe it to my fellow hikers to let everyone know these severe quality issues. Crazy that I am having to find a replacement boot now, so soon after buying these Power Matic 200 GVs which I thought would last 10 years like my last boots, which consequently were not Asolo boots.

I hiked the soles off these boots over a many year period, I want to say like 7 or 8 years. The boot was good but the soles were worn. What a great boot. I never even had to break them in. I cleaned and waxed them a few times but that's about it. Highly recommend.

I just spent a month in these boots trekking in Ladakh, India. I can say they are an amazing piece of gear. We hiked around 100 miles through rough terrain and I only received one blister at the end. I had to use the "ankle lock" technique to lace them up. My only problem with them is that they didn't breathe very well, so I had to change my socks or let my feet air out more than I wanted to. Other than that they were the most amazing boots I have worn.

After about one month of pretty constant wear, these are by far the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. The lacing system is ingenious. They were a perfect fit right out of the box and required minimal break-in. I also added a pair of green Superfeet. The only limitation were the laces, which weren't up to par in terms of strength. So, I ordered a pair of from Old Man Kook and now have the perfect boots!

I've had my boots for about 2 months and they have been excellent so far. I've hiked 10+ mile days with them in snow, ice, rocks and mud. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box as others have said. I wear a 14D and they fit perfectly. Overall, an excellent boot. 1 minor drawback..the insoles. They are not good at all, but easily replaced. I would recommend these boots to anyone who can appreciate them.

This is a beautiful boot. Having hiked in it for a year now, I can say that it has not disappointed me. I needed a serious boot for rough mountain backing over long trips. This boot cradles my foot. Unfortunately, one of my feet is smaller than the other, resulting in heel blisters on the smaller foot. I am now finding that 3 socks on that foot, along with really cinching down the laces has solved the problem. I give this a 5 star rating.

Instant fit and the break-in was quick. The boot is very stable on assents and descents as well as side sloping and a great grip on wet surfaces. The lacing system works better than expected, easy to adjust on the fly. If your looking for a stable boot with a throw back look, then look no more. Asolo usually are sized a half a size larger than regular shoes from my experience.

I love these shoes! I need the wide width especially in the toe box. I spent three years on my first pair in an aggressive environment. Boots are still good but soles are finally wearing down so I ordered another pair. They are comfortable and provide good support for hiking on uneven terrain.

I have been buying Asolo boots for years. The first pair were for a canoe trip in Quetico Park Canada. I found the support and comfort were beyond any boot I ever wore before. The quality was also first rate. I wore them for years. I had to buy a new pair not because they wore out, but because I left them to close to a radiator when wet and the leather boot shrunk a whole size. Lesson learned. I've been buying Asolo boots ever since. They fit me perfect right out of the box. Between my wife and me, we have purchased six pairs. The last three were from Zappos, my now favorite shoe store in the whole world!

Great boot -
Love the boots. Stiff, rugged, old school hiking boots. Very comfortable so far but they are not all the way broken in. I have not done any serious hiking yet. They seem to be well made but time will tell.

Matic 200 GV -
By far the best pair of boots I have owned. Comfort, fit, and finish are all 10 out of 10. I have got about 30 miles on them and they didn't seem to need any break in time. Comfortable from the first step.

Good looking comfort.
One of the finest pair of boots that I have ever owned. I have a lot of problems with neuropathy in both of my feet caused by tarsal tunnel syndrome. My feet bother me all of the time and if I do not have shoes on that are supportive and comfortable I cannot wear them. My new Asolo boots are probably one of the most comfortable that I have been able to find. The fit is perfect and the support is definitive. I would recommend them to anyone.

Best boot I've ever owned -
No break in. Tread works like glue on ice and snow. Already saved me from a fall on ice. I have a high arch and this is the only boot I can wear as it came from the factory. Size is perfect with a medium weight sock like Smartwool Phd.

Simply, a good boot -
It's not the best looking boot in the world, but then again, when is a boot 'good looking' and do you buy a boot that is good looking or do you buy it for more practical reasons?
This Asolo creation has become a stock feature in my day to day life. I found I needed very little breaking-in time; movement in the boot was fluid and smooth and the 3/4 shank has proven to be a godsend when walking on the hills or with crampons on. I'm 6'2" or 187cms and found the weight of the boot to be immaterial to a days work. I feel the pulley system of the laces is a good improvement but that the laces themselves are or can feel rather thin and I am concerned that they will break on me at the wrong time. Waterproofing- 100%, so far. Quality of workmanship: very good. Tread: deep. Boot itself: very supportive on the ankle. I bought the advertised size for my feet and have had no problems.

ASOLO Always delivers!
I know I have a pair boots that will last for years to come. I live in an alpine environment where weather can change without notice, and these boots have already proven their mettle. Size was right on point, and the wide boot fit just right. The description was also accurate in stating that the sole construction actually propels your gait. Best shoe purchase in years!

I want more rain and tougher terrain -
Bought these for a weeks trek in the mountains of Germany and they did wonderful. Wore them a few days prior to break them in, but not sure I needed to. They kept my feet comfy and dry in spite of summer downpours almost daily. Plus, no worries about trail hiking or slippery rocks.

Finally!!
Excellent support, lace system is the best I have used, quality is top notch, and they are as water proof as my rubber waders. Broke them in on a 9 mile summit hike in the winter with no hot spots or blisters. With proper socks these can definitely be 4 season boots.

Good stuff -
I love this boot...so far I've been hiking with them about four times. They have great support and are the most comfortable shoes I wear. The boot helps you walk! It sounds strange, but it actually propels you forward. It's worth the dough even if you are not using them for hikes or trails...I go everywhere with them.

GREAT BOOT -
This is a fantastic boot for people who appreciate technological advances in foot ergonometry and a newly available wide size. The pulley system evenly distributes frontal lacing and the upper lacing can cinch comfortably to a narrow heel, without sacrificing a uniform fitting. Therefore, assuring that the heel does not ride upward with every step because this shoe also has an additional European internal forward slant enabling sure-footed counter balancing upon each forward step. Thus, your foot step lands firmly, and flatly, on the ground. Similar to Danskos’ technology for proper posturing. Great when on ice and snow - just wear proper socks, no cotton. This boot will be appreciated by those who climb, backpack, hike, or just enjoy a proper fitting boot from a company which started in the 1970s.
