Nice -
With an 11.5 Narrow womens street size shoe I have a lot of trouble getting things to fit. The canvas Bloch Pump is a pretty good fit in the 8A, but I would like it narrower if I'd bought it in leather. It is very comfortable and very flattering to my arch. I am still getting used to the vamp which is exceptionally long compared to soft ballet shoes I've had before but the line the shoe creates on my foot is lovely.

You don't TIE the straps -
To the non-dancer who thought the elastics were meant to be tied. No! You sew the free end to the opposite side of the shoe, making a criss-cross. Geez.

Bloch Pump -
If you are buying for a dancer, I suggest you buy at least 2-3 half sizes down. The other reviewers that suggest buying only one half size down must not be wearing them for dancing-- they were falling off!
I'd also recommend:
Dansko- most dancers love these and for good reason!

Happy Feet -
I have tried many sballet shoes. I have an average sized foot but my daughter has a very narrow one. These style of shoes come narrow enough to fit her foot really well.

Overall, this is a pretty good ballet slipper. Generally I prefer leather but the canvas is more durable and this design forms to the foot pretty well.

This shoe is overall pretty good. I bought it not for dancing but just to wear around. Its comfort level isn't very high though, and Im still not sure on how to tie the straps since they don't seem long enough and are too tight, and it's not like I have a large sized ankle either.

I have danced in many shoes and I will say honestly that this Bloch shoe is the most comfortable and flattering shoe I've had. They hug your arch perfectly and don't bunch anywhere. I will say to those of you wanting to purchase these, they are not sized to street shoe sizing. I purchase them three sizes smaller than my street shoe size.

Only complaint is it was about a full size larger than my normal street shoe size (I typically wear a 7-7.5, so I ordered a 7, but could have gone with a 6.5). Other than that they are great.

Ballet shoes -
The shoes are good and fit well. We arent used to the canvas material yet but I am anxious to find out how they hold up compared to the regular leather skin shoes. You can't beat Zappos for buying shoes!

Metatarsal lumps,
I've now worn these for 3 months and:
Honestly, at first I thought they were pretty spiffy. They flattered the arch quite nicely, and as far as the heel and toe fitting when either pointing or going up to demipointe, they're really quite nice.
However, the construction of the shoe with the outer pad "flush to the floor" necessitates that quite a bit of canvas be folded in the inside. This material is folded under where your 2nd metatarsal typically ends up on demipointe and is covered up by the inner sole. With a bit of use, the lump becomes more exagerated and uncomfortable. In my time with this shoe I developed a bruise on my left 2nd metatarsal which kept me from dancing for a few weeks, something which hasn't happened to me before, and both my podiatrist and my dance teacher concurred that the shoe could quite likely have had something to do with it. Most of the other Bloch shoes are not constructed like this, so they don't have this particular problem.
