Breaking in this shoe- but still would highly recommend-
I received these last week and had a de ja-vu experience when I put them on. Earth shoes in the 70's also had a breaking-in period, and I am not talking about the negative-heel technology as much as the back of the heel cutting in. I remembered my first pair being painful, and I was smart enough on my second pair to actually wear band-aids on the chafing spots for the first week or so to eliminate blisters until they were broken in. I did this as well this time, and am still in the band-aid wearing stage (have worn 4 full days so far). My band-aids weren't placed perfectly yesterday and I needed an early morning adjustment, and could see exactly where the irritation was because the area was bright red (through a moderate weight sock as well). I know they will be great, and love the feeling the negative heel has on my back, hamstrings, and legs. There was no adjustment with respect to the negative heel, even though I generally wear a 1-1/2 inch heel to work on alternate days, and there is no problem for me switching between negative heel and other heels (yet). If only Earth could do something to eliminate the heel chafing that is very real, and has existed since my first pair in the 70's. I have never had any heel chafing problems with any other shoes, so I feel confident that it is a problem with the shoe and not my foot. Maybe it's only the tie Earth shoes- I wonder if the boots such as "rosebud" would have a chafing problem. Other notes: sizing ran very true to size, I have a narrow size 9 with plantar fasciitis and heel spurs and the ties make it possible to get a snug fit, no orthotics needed in these. Toe box very roomy, which is not for everyone, but I personally love the freedom of a big toe box.

Worth waiting for!
I purchased these shoes solely on the reputation of Earth; I got them for my job in a commercial kitchen where I am on my feet and walking all day long. At first, they were horribly uncomfortable, pinched and made my toes numb. After a few weeks of constant wearing, however, they've become MUCH more comfortable. I now look forward to putting them on, as opposed to looking forward to taking them off in the beginning. They were worth the wait, but the breaking-in period was grueling! They pretty much look like any other Chef's shoe, but unfortunately don't do well on wet floors.

Earth Classy -
These are great with dressy pants, comfortable but nice enough for work. The missing fifth star is for the width. If only Earth made more wide width shoes!

If your feet have a low profile,
you will want to think twice about this shoe. It is wonderfully comfortable, and really helps ease back pain (that Earthy effect). The look is suitable for work or casual environs. The upper reaches just a little too high for my foot though, and chafes just under my ankle. I'll endure it, but won't buy another pair of this model.

Not necessarily what the doctor ordered -
I bought three pairs of Earth shoes because I've been almost crippled with tendinitis for the last three months. Many discussion sites on the Internet having to do with my problem led me to research Earth Shoes. After I'd already worn the shoes to work once each, I finally had my appointment with a physical therapist who said I don't want my heel inclined. Maybe I can still make something work out with the orthotics I'm getting.
Aside from that the shoes fit okay. They are VERY stiff and the inclined heel is a little hard to get used to. They seem like the kind of shoes that could last 20 years.
If I hadn't worn them I'd probably send them back because they won't work for the purpose I purchased them for. I will just figure out how to make them work for me or some large footed woman at Value Village will get a good deal from my hasty decision.

Just What Was Needed -
I needed a pair of fall/winter shoes that would change my stance and walk. I remembered Earth Shoes and ordered the Earth Classy. The shoes were just what was needed after "heels". I needed the next size up to get a comfortable fit.

Hurts!
I had Earth shoes back in the mid 70's and they were very comfortable so I thought I would try them again. I don't remember back then if they caused heel pain but these cut into my heels. I read where others mentioned this and say it is worth the break-in, but I decided to return them. I don't want to deal with breaking them in - not worth the pain or time.

I remember the 70's!!!
I am pretty sure this is the pair of shoes I wore in high school and college in the 70's. I've been looking for a pair ever since I learned to use the Internet. Mine were brown.
How 'bout a lighter color!!!
I may order this or another set soon!!! My diabetic feet aren't what they were decades ago!!!!
