REAL Performance Footwear -
I just wore these shoes on a 4 day backpacking trip in the Smokies. 40 pound pack and 8 miles a day, not even the beginnings of a blister the whole trip. Tell me another trail running shoe that could even come close to handling that. Wet or dry these shoes have great traction for boulder hopping and hill climbing. Buy a half size up or more the arch is positioned strangely.

Trail Excellence -
Everyone knows the overnight service is fantastic so I will save this review for the shoe.
I am 6'2, 215 and am just now really getting serious about longer trail runs (did 8 miles on Saturday). This shoe is stiff/firm and, in my opinion, that is what you want in a trail shoe. The shoe doesn't slip, thus eliminating rubbing that causes blisters, and the front of the shoe protects your foot when you hit rocks.
The only real issue I have had with the shoe is having to play around with the laces to loosen up the toe box. The feel is tight at first and once I got things loosened up the shoe was good to go.
Great shoe. . .hard to imagine that there is another trail shoe out there that can compete. As far as sizing. . .I wear a wide range of shoe sizes. My go to for athletic shoes is 11.5, I ordered that size and have had no problems.

Great Shoe -
After trying several shoes outside of the Montrail family I came back to this one. The fit is excellent, and despite other reviews I found that it fit very close to size. (Order a 1/2 size up if you like room in front of toes.) I just hope Montrail doesn't go changing or discontinuing this one after being bought by Columbia.
As always Zappos is amazing - the only place to buy shoes online. Thanks to their unbelievable customer service I was able to look until I found a shoe that worked, without going broke paying shipping charges.

Montrail Continental Divide Review -
The best trail shoe I have ever used. Got it out of the box, used them for one day and ran a 10k the following day. No blisters, comfortable cushion and great for ultra marathon. I am planning to use this shoe for the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara. I recommend that you buy it one size bigger than what you usually wear.

MONTRAILS AND ZAPPOS ARE GREAT -
This is the best trail shoe that I have ever owned. Great stability and great protection from rocks, roots, etc. They also have a good feel on the road if you have transition miles from road to trail. They fit my slightly wide feet perfectly. Size up one half size. I just discovered Zappos this year and I will never buy shoes anywhere else! UNBELIEVABLE service.

New trail runner -
I reviewed trail shoes for over a year before making the plunge. This shoe is a great choice for a newbie. I'm a neutral runner and I wanted good, basic trail dynamic in my first trail shoe. I do 30-40 miles a week. This shoe I've had out for a couple of ten milers with hills and a shorter run. The shoe was great! It is heavier than a road shoe, but I expected that. I recommend this to neutral runners on basic trails.

In my opinion the best trail running shoe I've used. This shoe has comfort, stability, and a no nonsense look. If you're looking for a trail runner start with this one.

Excellent shoe -
Got these shoes 1/2 size larger and they fit great. Went hiking with a 25lb. backpack across muddy, rocky, wet terrain. These shoes gave excellent support and after 25 miles I had no blisters and no soreness in my feet. The traction was great across wet rock and loose dirt, never slipped once. I will be buying another pair for hiking. Only negative is that they are not waterproof.

Great off-road running shoes -
I am not sure if these are the lightest hiking boots in the world or the most supportive running shoes in the world, but for running or walking on moderate to heavy off road terrain (lava flows included) these runners are the bomb.
The slight price paid in extra weight is compensated by zero ankle roll, great mid foot support and stiff forefoot for pushing off of boulders and ledges. These shoes give you confidence that, uphill or downhill, where the mind wants to go, the feet will follow.
Unique extra wide forefoot shape will keep your toes happy as well.
While I am gushing, hip-hip hooray for Zappos. Great service, trusting and easy return policy.
I'll be back for more Montrails bought from Zappos.

Very stable shoe. Stiff sole. Great protection off trail or on roots and rocks. I normally wear an 11 in a Vitesse and ended up with a 12 in the Divide.

On my 2nd pair & loving them -
Got about 600 miles on the Appalachian Trail with my first pair, then another 300+ on the 2nd. Now I save them for going out for runs as wearing them out by just walking or around the house seems like a waste.
Dried quickly, good support. Even when beat (significant tread wear after 600 miles of rocks & roots) the shoe was still basically sound.
Negative? That "arch gap" on the bottom of the shoe doesn't have the same grippy rubber sole surface. The once every 20 miles that you try to step on the peak of a rock and it lines up with that you might slip some. Then again, they gripped tons better than my vibram soled boots I wore before my ankles could do trail runners.
I'm going to get a half dozen pairs soon. Save them hoping that I get to do the PCT soon.

Great trail runner -
I really like the mix in this trail runner. It's stable, but fast and easy on foot mechanics. I used this to hike some of the Pacific Crest Trail. About 400 miles with this model. It's probably my favorite trail shoe and I used 6 different pairs in the 2600 miles.

2nd review -
Spent a week hiking with lite pack in Yosemite high country wearing this shoe. Hiked & scrambled over rock, boulders, scree, sand, you name it. Shoes were stable with great traction & extremely comfortable. Hiked down steep mtns without trails & never rubbed blisters on the toes thanks to wide toe box. Very snug fitting shoe...perfect with lite hiking sock (I use Bridgedale Light Hikers)! Shoe is very breathable & cool for summer hiking, but would not be suited for cold, rainy weather. Best trail shoe I've worn. Hiked 30 miles total & my feet never got tired or sore. Great cushioning--this shoe is ready for the task.

Another good shoe from Montrail -
Comfort, sure footedness, support, great shoe for those long trail runs, 50k or longer. All the things you'd expect from Montrail.

Two Thumbs Up!
This is a great shoe that has it all--Comfort-Stability-Style. This is my first pair of Montrails and I'm impressed. Perfect fit, lightweight and flexible. If you're looking for a trail shoe, check these out.

Ultra Comfort -
I took these shoes for a 7 mile test spin and they felt great out of the box (as do most Montrail’s) The second time I wore them was for the Miwok 100K ultra north of San Francisco, 62 miles on trails with 20,000 feet of elevation change. The shoe felt great every step of the way. When it did get wet it dried quickly, it was stable enough for the trail yet comfortable enough that I was still running without discomfort at mile 62. Another great trail shoe from Montrail.
I'd also recommend:
Montrail Highline or Leona Divide

WOW!
Lightweight, stable (wide sole), ample toe room. Can’t imagine a more comfortable shoe for day hiking with light pack. Sticky rubber gives great traction. Could have worn them on a major hike the first time out- little or no break in required. Time will tell how durable they are. If only they were GORE-TEX!
I'd also recommend:

Good shoe -
I used these shoes to run on a gravel road and so far they are fine (about a month). Good support and good cushioning. Not too heavy. They did require some break-in as they are snug in length. They may be close to a full size smaller than marked. They have a good look in the grey/gold.

Poor quality -
I bought these to replace my beloved Leona Divides. However, I was disappointed in the quality of Continental Divides. After only two runs (less than 12 miles total), the little yellow knobs on the soles started to fall off.

Good right out of the box -
Great fit. I ordered them on Monday, I received them on Tuesday, and I wore them around the house for a few days and ran the JFK 50 miler on Saturday. No blisters and they felt great.
