A Timeless Classic - I was first introduced to this classic "desert boot" back in the early '70s. I really fell in love with them for their comfort and for their "basic-ness". They weren't flashy or extravegant, but they had an "earthiness" about them that struck a chord with me. But they were hard to find and I went for years without seeing them. Thanks to the internet I was reintroduced to the Desert Boot in the '90s and have not been without them ever since. And I will continue to wear them in the future. I just hope Clark's understands that there are "hard-core" desert boot enthusiasts out here and that they never, ever decide to quit making them.

Desert Boots - Back to the 60's - My older sisters got me a pair in the mid-sixties, a year before they had worked their way in coolness down to the kids my age, so I got teased about my shoes for a year, until all the other kids were wearing them too. It's fun to go retro, and back to childhood roots by buying and wearing these. They work well with jeans. Just noticed last night that I stepped in gum though.

Solid shoe - Very comfortable shoe. Only problem with it is that I think the soles are too flimsy. It's a gum sole and seems like it'll wear out in two months. I've only been wearing them for 2 weeks.--so far so good. They provide no traction whatsoever if the ground is wet. I live in LA so it's no problem for me; I wonder how people in seattle have dealt with this shoe... I tried this shoe on in the store before so I already knew what I was getting. I suggest everyone do that if possible.

Great shoe but need to bring back wide widths - I've purchased new pairs of desert boots every year since 1976 usually through L.L. Bean but now they are very hard to find. I love this boot. Back in the 90's they were making them in China and I have to admit they were made better in China, they had a slightly thicker sole and they had a liner on the inside and most important they made them in "WIDE" widths. Around 1999 Clarks quit making the wide widths, I found a store in Canada that still hade some wide widths and bought them all. Now I need new desert boots but can't find any wides. If anyone reading this knows someplace that sells them with wide widths please e-mail me, I'm in desperate need, these are the only shoes I'll wear. I've tried buying the current medium widths but the toe area is just to narrow. I don't know what it is with Clarks nowaday's they were always the one place you could get wide size shoes. Also I've noticed that the current sole on the desert boots is thinner - not a good thing! I believe the Desert Boots that were made in China during the 90's were the best. I wish Clarks would bring back that line of the original desert Boots.

Width - I very much like the Clark desert boot and Walaby but they are too wide. If there were a narrower width I would buy many pairs. In the future if these shoes are offered in a narrower width I would like to be contacted. Thank you.

A Great Product Never Dies - I got my first pair of desert boots after I saw George Harrison wearing a pair on the cover of the Abbey Road Lp. He has been a great influence in my life so why not assume he knew something about comfortable shoes. Well it is obvious that he knew something about shoes. The desert boot is the most comfortable shoe and the best thing a person can do for his/her feet. Thanks to Clarks for keeping them around!

Clarks Desert Boot - This is my first pair of crepe-soled Clarks and so far they're great. I really like how these boots conform to your foot. The leather is soft, but still feel rugged. It seems that these along with Wallabees are all wider than marked, but that allows for more toe room.

Jimm D. in montana - The Desert Boot, and the Trek are both shoes for the busy big male human. They are always comfortable, but are bad for wet and slippery paths. In hospital settings, you can do procedures and stand on hard floors all day without having tired body-foot syndrome.

A Timeless Classic - another 5 stars to Zappos.com! These shoes run big so I used the free UPS shipping label and was able to exchange my Desert Boots for a size smaller. I got the Sand Suede color and they are a work of beauty. Highly recommended!

Back to the future! I wore Clark's Desert Boots (or knock-offs) as a kid over 30 years ago. I really liked this classic design then and after a long hiatus, I like it now. They are about as comfortable as you can get (I teach and am on my feet a lot). Last year, I bought 2 brown pairs and have just ordered a black pair. A tip for the wide-footed: I usually wear a wide width (2E) but found the Medium (M) in these boots very forgiving. The shoes soon and easily conformed to my feet. They were never too tight. The size was on the mark.

Fantastic! Wow! The shoes look even better than the on-line photo. I was looking for nice pair of comfortable, classic shoes. The Desert boots fit the part. Look great, feel great. I've got the brown and may now have to get the black. Absolutely outstanding service from Zappos. I requested standard shipping but Zappos sent my pair of Desert boots 2nd Day air, all for no shipping charge. I'm one happy Desert Rat!

Same as British Officers at Central Command, Tampa Fl. First wore these at Madrid, High school in Spain, in the 60's. Went through at least 5 pair before moving on to Weejuns. Asked a British officer where he got his. Couldn't go to England so started searching the web. Zappos is one of the few places I found them. Almost like going back to my youth in Spain. Great feel, great fit, great look. Got the tan, will get the brown next. Can't wait to run in to the Brits in the PX here to show them my Desert Boots. Fit better than my GI issue desert boots.

My feet feel very comfortable in this pair of boots. Not too loose, not too tight. They are light so you can walk a long distance with them on your foot. They look great with your casual khakis and white jeans. I highly recommend Clarks's Desert Boot to those who enjoy the casual way of dressing on weekends.

I haven't worn Clarks Desert Boots for a long time and it's great to have these again. Looks great with jeans and most other pants. The fit is comfortable, but they don't have any sole/arch support.

Unique, well crafted shoes of decent materials - The Desert Boot is almost a slipper- light, soft, relaxed, casual, comfortable. Don't expect a work boot or walking shoe, there isn't sufficient support for comfortable all day contact on concrete. Classic style for a casual date or shopping around town, the light color is perfect with denim. I have owned 5 variations of Desert Trek, Fox, and Boot. Light suede colors will pick up stains quite easily, within several minutes. Darker, waxy leather uppers will stay looking brand new for years with occasional saddle soap. It's nearly impossible to wear out the crepe soles on these things, though they will darken considerably with use and change the overall appearance of the shoe. Zappos will not disappoint. Received within 24hrs of order. Amazing.

Great shoes - check the fit - Hello - love my Clarks BUT these seem to run big for me. Usually get 10 should have got 9.5. Still - I've been wearing them for about 2 weeks and finally found an insole that feels great in them - not so floppy now. Bout to get a pair of Desert Trek and will order half size down. These really loosened up on me. Oh well - will just have to wear em out and get another pair. As for ZAPPOS - GREAT SERVICE and SO FAST. REALLY FAST!!! AWESOME!

Recent Purchase - Only 1 compliant about the boots, the sole gets dirty and it turns black after wearing it just once. 100% satisfaction otherwise. Shipping is also super fast; I placed the order at 11 pm and received it next day in the afternoon.

A bit narrow - It’s really a great shoe for spring. Its light and a true classic. You really have to use some suede protectant on it though, because it would be pretty easy to get coffee stains on this thing. It’s somewhat narrow for the length that I needed. Absolutely no arch support and the sole gets gummed up pretty easily. For the price it is quite worth it. I may just buy myself another pair before the summer is over for next spring.

Still laid back. After seeing the number of reviews, there is truly is a great Desert Boot army out there, cool. I am 55 years old and have been wearing them since 1964. They are a great comfortable shoe and they have always looked good with Levis jeans and those old Levis cord jeans of the same color. Old school, no khakis. The last pair I bought did not have the soft leather lining on the interiors. I miss that. The old interior covered the sides, toe box, tongue, everything. I wish you guys could bring that concept back. But, you still make a great shoe that is timeless. There are no other shoes like them. You can see and feel the youth in them. Hi Ho, keep on truck ‘in. Go. Boot. After.

Great looking, need wide widths - I always wanted a pair of these ever since I was in grammar school in the sixties; my parents wouldn't hear of it. Dress codes, dress codes, all the way through high school. In college, I had wallabees and desert treks, but never a pair of desert boots. Finally, this year, I bought a pair. I'm a size 11 wide, and they fit front to back right out of the box, but they were really tight around the balls of my feet and my instep, and wearing them two days straight didn't break them in; my feet actually hurt! I took them to a shoe repair shop to be stretched, and that did the trick. They're now incredibly comfortable and look great. I can walk all day in them, and wet-pavement traction hasn't been a problem.
