I bought these shoes last year, and since they're men's shoes (I'm a woman), I had to try a few pairs to figure out my size, so I don't know if they're true to size or not. Other than that, they took quite a while to break in...the toe would bend a particular way and pinch. But once they were broken in, they were very comfortable and warm. A bit heavy maybe, but you get used to that. They look great and are completely waterproof, so I can park my car in big puddles that no one else is willing to park in. Overall, these are great shoes!

If you buy shoes online, buy from Zappos! The customer service is amazing and its free to ship back anything that doesn't fit. I had a hard time finding the right pair of hiking boots and their customer service went above and beyond to get me the boots I wanted. Thanks Zappos!

These are awesome boots! I went on an easy three mile trail the day after I received these boots and was absolutely impressed. These boots fit perfectly and felt like they were already broken-in! I went on another hike several days later and while others were having problems on the trail, I felt right at home! Solid! These are the first Vasques that I have ever owned; I think I am hooked!

These are the only shoes my husband has worn for the past 20+ years except for his "wedding and funeral shoes." Thank you to Zappos for carrying this classic. I can't comment on the fit or performance, but my husband wears these in all sorts of rough conditions - hiking in Utah, or birding in a swamp, and these boots keep his feet comfy. I know he would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a classic hiking boot.

My feet are rather narrow, so I\'d really prefer a slightly narrower boot. Nevertheless, these were extremely comfortable right out of the box. My first hike in them was six miles; my second was thirteen. My last pair of this same model lasted twenty years, so my expectations are high.

Great boot! Hard to find a one piece leather boot these days. Size runs significantly large. I\'m size 9.5. After ordering 3 pairs, I settled with a size 9.

This is my 4th pair of Sundowners, and my second made-in-China pair. I have no way of knowing (side by side) if they are as good as my very first pair, but the quality control is much improved over my previous (third) pair. If that had not been the case right out of the box, I likely would have returned them. After a month and a few short hikes (one with a medium backpack). I am still happy with this pair, comfort, support, and no blisters or hot spots. I have a long backpacking trip coming up in a couple of weeks and I think they will be great.

They're great boots. Love them. Haven't had them long enough to get into the nitty gritty of extended experience but I wear them all the time.

Sundowner review - A great boot for winter weather comfort and protection! If taken care of with Mink Oil, this boot will last a very long time. A great value for the money.

Simply the best boot made! I've been hooked on this boot for over 15 years, wearing them daily in the construction industry. They are a good fit in the office and better in the field. I have gotten at least six other friends loyal to Vasque as well. They take about a week to break-in then become the most comfortable boot there is.

Vasque's Sundowner GTX Boots - These boots are the best! My last pair have lasted 14 years and have been used for heavy hiking, winter use, etc. They're still not doing too badly--just a little worn.

I have been a big fan of the Sundowner. I wear them for everyday use here in the upper midwest, including office and dressing up occasions. I bought my first pair in 1997, have resoled them once, and still have them. I have since bought two more pairs. The only complaint I have with them is that the sole wore out quicker. The new Sundowner is a good boot, a little stiff compared with the original, but seems really durable and is breaking in OK. I prefer the original style, but the new Sundowner is still good. We will see how the sole does. And I will work with Zappos anytime.

Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. A little stiff out of the box and will need to be broken in gradually.

I owned a pair of Vasque Sundowners about 20 years ago and if my son didn't eventually grow into my size, I would probably still have that pair. This pair was great right out of the box. I've owned them less than a month, so the durability is something I can't attest to- yet! I've read about the problems others have experienced with the newer Vasque no longer being built in Italy, but loved the older ones so much I wanted to own another pair. The only complaint I have is that the uppers seem to be larger than the size indicated. The fact that I don't wear thick wool socks with them anymore may may be the reason for this. I like them so far.

Great boot! The improved Vibram sole is good. I am a big man and weigh a lot more than the average hiker. These boots have helped me stay on the trail despite 2 fallen arches. If you want durability and need extra support, these boots are hard to beat.

Good mid-weight boot for the money. Although Vasque does not make the Sundowner like they used to (having outsourced manufacturing overseas), it is still a quality boot. For those looking to get a heavier boot (but more durable boot), go for the Asolo TPS 520 GV - had those for almost ten years without a single problem.

THE boot - It took a little while to find the right size- I have an old pair (9 years) that were 9M, but now the 8W fits great. These boots last forever.

I have worn this brand and model of boot for years, But the soles wore out and were slick on the bottom of these after less than five months. Another customer had warned me about this but I didn’t believe him. Lesson learned. Spend your $$ elsewhere

I've been buying these boots for twenty years but the sole on this one completely cracked in half in just one year. Very disappointing. Previous iterations of this boot have last me 3-5 years.

I am not impressed with these shoes. For the price of these shoes they should be a lot more comfortable. There is very little padding inside and feels like wearing a cardboard box. Sorry I am going back to my Lowas!

I love the performance but now days it doesn't matter. I'd pay more for a lesser boot if it was made in the states. These... and yes I have a pair and love them... are sadly made in China. With the current state of economics, the trade imbalance makes them an unpatriotic selfish choice so I choose... not. And I'm not even talking dollar for dollar imbalance but labor hour imbalance. Have pride... abstain... being good in not the only thing that matters.

These boots were great for 2 months. After 2 months the bottom of both boots split from side to side. I do no hiking what so ever and they tore up from normal use (going to the grocery store wearing to work in an office setting etc..) The company was going to replace the boots but I had to pay for half and I had to pay for shipping. DO NOT BUY THESE BOOTS HORRIBLE QUALITY!!!

Great boots. They fit true tosize and I've put many miles on them.
