It took me two tries with the Calvary's, but the second pair I ordered fit absolutely great. I routinely wear them 12 hours straight at work without any feet issues, just like my other 4 pairs of Frye's (3 harness artisinal's and one campus). The first pair I ordered were very tight on the left side which I immediately attributed to an irregularity. I returned those and immediately ordered the exact same size and same color. This second pair fits perfectly. This is an issue I had once before, but I can tell you being patient is worth the extra effort. My only issue with the Cavalry, and the reason I did not give it 5 stars, is that I feel the shaft circumference is just a little too large. I like to have the option of wearing boots with a straight leg jean, like a Levi's 501. With my Harness Artisinal, this is no problem as the shaft is about 10% smaller. With the Cavalry's they are just too big around at the top to fit under the jeans without looking strange. In my opinion, decreasing this circumference by just a bit would improve the appearance of the upper shaft and all round utility. That being said, I still love them and will get plenty of use from the pair.

The right heel is starting to squeak now. A low-frequency squeak that isn't that loud, but still. I'm currently waiting to see if the squeak will go away as the heel "settles". If not, I may have to take it to shoe repair. Other than that, I am still enjoying these boots.

Received these boots today. Beautiful. Black as night. Pungent leather aroma, as it should be. But the description said they had 2" heels. They're not, they're 1 3/4". Close, but 2" should mean 2" -- it should be an objective measurement, not an approximation.

These fit well! They are well made, except for that the left heel to be makes a creaking noise as I walk. I pulled the boots off and found that both heels are loose. I am not sure if I will return them or take them to a shoe repair shop.

Really love these boots but if you're a size 13 forget it, I had to wait over a year for them to get in stock and we are coming up on another year now.

I bought these to compare against Frye Jenna Harness Maple Calf Shine color boots, was on the fence for the style. To compare comfort, the Jenna Harness footbed is much more padded and more comfortable, and the leather on the Jenna. Personally I thought the Cavalry heel shape and toe shape is more "cowboy" looking, and I prefer the motorcycle look of the Jenna. The leather of the Jenna is also more supple, though I'm sure these Cavalry will soften over time. The color of the dark brown is nice, but I will be returning these.

For gosh sake...these Frye Cavalry boots cost this much, and the insoles are not leather! The boots look great but are the most uncomfortable pair of boots I've ever owned. I'm going to try an Ariat ATS insert to see if this helps. Aside from the lack of comfort and the cheap insole, I like these boots.

The pair I received didn't look anything like the ones pictured. Mine has serious gouges in them from the "distressing". When you plan to wear a pair of boots for many years, you don't need any help making them look worn. That is a very NY approach to cowboy boots.

Great style but they are poorly crafted. I had to return two pairs as the first one was defective - the front of the heel separated from the sole after one wearing. Zappos was great. They sent me a replacement pair but they had the same problem! I saw that the same thing was occurring. The front of the heel is not properly secured to the sole to begin with. I am in the process of returning the second pair and will try another model. As an aside - I contacted Frye customer service on their website and have heard nothing back after a week. I am glad that Zappos stands behind brands that do not do the same for their own products!
