This will be the last pair or Open Minded flip flops I am buying. They are not the same shoes since Crocs bought the company, with a much harder sole and less cushioning. This shoe was previously known as the Mokolua, but the sandal by that name today is close to a lot. This Southern Baja is the same sandal in style, but construction is most definitely not. It still has fairly good arch support (I have flat feet), it is still made with leather and fits well, but the comfort while walking is gone. There used to be a squishiness to the rubber sole that made walking in these an all day affair with no problems, but that is no longer the case. I have been wearing these almost year round for the last 5-6 years (each pair last about 1.5-2 years), and unfortunately I will have to find a new flip flop after I am done with these ones. Maybe Crocs will read this and make them the way Ocean Minded used to. By the way, I buy these a bit larger than my shoe size because I hate having my heel come off the back. I have an 11-11.5 foot, but wear a size 12 sandal.

These were pretty rough on my feet while I was breaking them in. I had to take them off and walk around barefoot sometimes because they were rubbing the skin off my feet. They're pretty much broken in now (after 10 wearings or so), and are pretty comfortable.

Be aware that the footbed and strap of the shoe are much lighter brown than the picture shows online. I actually brought the shoes to the Las Vegas headquarters of Zappos to show them the discrepancy. When I presented the shoes to Leann at the front desk, she greeted me with an argument and insisted that the lighting in the picture or the brightness of my computer screen was to blame. She pulled the shoes up on her computer screen (which looked the same as my computer screen) and tried to convince me that I was seeing something I wasn't. I walked out of the building with my shoes to find another way to fix the problem. The bottom line is the picture didn't accurately represent the true color of the shoe and the customer service at the front desk of headquarters was atrocious. I will say that the service I received on the phone to remedy the situation was excellent and resolved the problem very quickly.

These are durable, tough sandales but that is great if your feet are made of leather! I took these walking around a city park, and it did take long before the upper leather part was chafing my feet. Not long after that there were raw marks on my feet, maybe these sandals need more time to break in, but for the time being my feet are hurting.

Left sandal strap, right side, cut at an angle that immediately caused a blister. If you look closely at the right sandal, left strap, it is cut so the strap is not turned in. This is a defect.

I had a pair of these that I wore every day for about 3 years. They were great. I just bought another pair to replace them. Unfortunately, they are not the same. They are now a super light tan color and they have changed the soles and now have no cushioning. I've worn them for about three weeks now and they are completely blown out. My feet hurt after wearing them...I used to love ocean minded...definitely disappointed.

Incredibly stiff and uncomfortable sole material that doesn't give as you walk.

First day, I wore them for less than a mile walk, and the blisters were already bleeding on the inside of both of my feet. I soaked them in the ocean in hopes of breaking them in a bit, but no luck. I've tried giving them to others, but they feel the chafing after walking for 10 minutes and give them back. They look nice, but everything about them is stuff and unforgiving. Very disappointing.
