No longer wearing vasque boots - The original Vasque Sundowners from Italy can't be beat. However the Chinese made version are: very stiff, run 1/2 size big (10m order 9.5m), top of tongue ends are rolled under and sewn instead of being flat and sewn like the originals. Leather quality from China is nowhere near that from Italy. If you have worn Vasque for 20 years like I have, the new ones ARE NOT the same comfort and quality. I'm looking for another boot manufacturer at the moment.

I’ve owned 3 pairs of these in my lifetime...years of pure joy. I love this boot! Awesome for backpacking, day hikes, gardening or everyday wear. They stay dry up to the brim. They’re a classic. I’ll wear them a couple hours each day until broken in. Other brand names with soft fabric always get kinks in the wrong places. These do not! Bury me in my Sundowner GTX.

I gave these boots 5 stars all the way across because I think they'll be great once they break in. I've been wearing them every day for 4 days and there are still very painful spots on both feet up near where the top of the boot hits the ankles. How long does it take to break these Sundowners in? Has anyone else had a painful and uncomfortable break in period?

I love these boots. They are my every day shoes, rugged enough for hiking and outside work, and dressy enough for office time. I'm on my third pair. I still have my first pair, purchased 19 years ago and resoled one time. The quality in my opinion has declined only in durability of the sole.

Classic, hard-core, old-school hiking boot. They have excellent traction, sturdy, and great support. I've hiked with these all over New England, and particularly the Northern Presidentials in the White Mountains. I bought a second pair 2 years after the first, only because I decided I prefer to have a full size extra room, since I always wear thick wool socks plus liners. These boots will always be my cooler-weather rugged boots. (My warm-weather boots are also Vasque.)

These are great boots! I have worn this brand/style for the past 10 years and have always been happy with the fit, overall comfort factor and durability. I work in the landscape / nursery industry so I wear these boots to work basically year round - three to five days a week. On the weekends I wear them for farm chores. Invest in good socks and you will be able to wear them comfortably winter and summer!

I wear these daily as work boots; hiking, shoveling, wading through shallow streams. I've worn these for years and am now on my second pair. After a year and a half of heavy use, the sole of one boot cracked while I was working in the deserts of West Texas. I was impressed that they lasted as long as they did! I wear an 8.5 in normal shoes and boots, and an 8.5 in these boots lets me wear thick hiking socks. I have slightly wide feet and like that these come in widths.

I loved these boots and wanted to be able to keep them but my ankle bones were unfortunately aligned with the inside of the lacing grommet, which slid over the bone when I walked. I'm guessing this is just my personal physics, since so many loved them. Great, classic, timeless boots.

Looks nice but a bit heavier than I like and was not comfortable when worn for an extended period. My feet started hurting. I’m hoping it will become more comfortable when “broken in”.

I have a very old (20 years) pair of leather Vasque sundowners which I LOVE but are about to die on me. These I bought to replace them, and are a half size larger than my original ones but TOO SHORT in the toe box! I will try a half size larger but disappointed that these don't fit like my old ones.

I wanted to love these boots. They had an sturdy old school look and a foot bed with "just right" support. I wore them around the house for 2 hours to give them a real try. but the tongue lacks padding. not only did the boot become increasingly uncomfortable but it left a red mark where it chafed my ankle. So they were returned.

So stiff. Just as I remembered them to be. I'm not patient enough anymore to go through through the break in period. Sent them back. Well made, nice looking boot.

Had to return these. They are more than I need. These are very heavy, clunky boots. I found them to be extremely stiff. So much so that I couldn't walk at all in them without pain around the ankle. Breaking them in would have been impossible.

After owning and being pleased with the original Italian made Sundowner for about 15 years, I replaced them with the Chinese made version about 7 years ago. The poor quality of this version is widely documented (the soles fell off like others have mentioned here). In November of 2019, I decided to give the newer Vietnam made version. They fit and performed well until recently. It feels like there is some form of plastic shank under the ball of the foot that has broken on both boots. Now the broken plastic "pops" with each step making them virtually unwearable. Needless to say, my decades-old relationship with the Vasque brand is over.

I bought a pair of these in the late 90s. I wore them every winter in Chicago and through a national park tour plus years of hiking. They are scuffed and an beaten but I still have them and love them. Undoubtedly the best shoes I have ever purchased. In 20 years I gained weight and they have become small. I am getting another pair.

Use consideration in size. My wife has been wearing these shoes for at least 30 years. This particular model now runs a half size smaller than in the past. We compared the shoes sole to sole, and the new one is 1/2 inch shorter. We suggest you order a half size larger. We are returning, and re-ordering these wonderful shoes.

This is my third pair of Vasque Sundowners. My first pair I had for well over 10 years and this last pair survived for 13 years and I literally logged THOUSANDS of hiking miles. The only reason I replaced them was because they were starting to leak and the entire bottom sole all but fell off. Easiest boot to break in and most comfortable throughout its life. These boots go everywhere with me. I seriously felt like I was losing a friend when I had to put them in the trash!

This is a nice boot but the medium width is for a person with a narrow foot.

These beauties are awesome. I did something I never thought I'd do again...straight out of the box hike. I had a different pair 15 years ago I did that with and turned back in tears from blisters. The Sundowners were so comfortable the first time I slipped them on, I was desperate to get them on the trail. So with the anticipation of a possible renactement I set out in a steep hike. But I just had a good feeling. They were totally amazing. Comfortable, adorable and super durable. There was only one spot that rubbed on my big toe, mole skin will solve that issue till they are broken in. I was really floored, much better than expected. They are a pricy purchase but after receiving them and looking at them in person it's clear they are total quality. I'm almost tempted to buy another to always have those for my feet.

I am a big fan of Vasque Sundowner boots. I have been hiking with my dogs for almost two decades and enjoyed the comfort, stability and confidence it gives me making for a fun day on the local hiking trails around Chatsworth. I love the new color and the perfect fit.

These are the perfect boots! They are so comfortable. They fit really well! I have purchased a second pair as a backup. I love these boots!

These boots are stunning! I put them on and went out for a hike with my dog, and they were fabulous. It had just rained, and my feet stayed dry. There was no breaking-in period before I could wear them. They have looks, quality and comfort - everything I want in hiking boots, not to mention all of my other shoes!

These boots are awesome. Fit perfectly and didn't need to be broken in. I wear them with thick socks and they felt fine. The ankle support is great and the shoe is comfortable and cushions your feet. I only do light hiking, usually on paths or trails so these boots were the best. I have to say I love them. Also you cannot beat Zappos customer service. I bought the wrong size and Ceasar was able make an exchange with my having to be charged. The best!

The design, quality, and affordability of these boots is amazing. I have beat the hell out of these boots for 15 years and even had them resoled. I have done farm work, poured concrete, used them for dress shoes, walked hundreds of miles in them. The stitching needs to be repaired, but I am still using them. They still shed water and they're still comfortable. I really hope that they do not change anything about this make and model. They work, period. Seriously Vasque, you made something great, do not change it.

I am very happy with these Vasque hiking boots. I require a wide toe box and excellent support to accommodate my size 7.5 wide , flat feet with bunions! I an able to insert my custom orthotics,and still have room in the toe box. The heel is a bit wide, but I am hoping to wear thicker socks to remedy that. I wore them for a couple of hours a day before I took them on a hike. Hiked app. 6.5 miles on a rocky trail with no problems. My feet did stayed dry despite walking over streams and through wet grass. I love these hiking boots.
