These are terrible boots for the price. The fit, when new, felt perfect. However, after the initial break-in period they were much too loose. I purchased expensive insoles (and thicker socks) to help with the fit. Also, I laced them tightly, but they still do not fit properly. These boots are less than two years old, yet the sole is peeling apart near the rubber toe box. When hiking across a creek, water leaks inside the boot itself. Last summer, while on a two month road trip, my feet were perpetually wet!

Great boot! I am a forester and spend many hours nearly every day hiking both on and (mostly) off-trail in these boots. They are very durable and have held up to the toughest of vegetation and terrain. I have hiked hundreds of miles in these boots from swamps to mountain tops to deserts to city streets and they are always a dream to hike in. They took a little time to break in and I got a blister or two early on, but no worse than any other hiking boot. It has been 6 months and the waterproofing still works great. I have high arches and changed out the insole for one with more arch support. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more ankle support. I highly recommend these boots and will definitely buy them again.

I got this shoe in 2011. I have a wide foot and finding a hiking boot that actually fits my foot and is comfortable, is a major accomplishment. I love this boot. It has taken me into the Grand Canyon 3 times and is a great winter boot for Prescott AZ. After hundreds of miles, they look as good as they did when I bought them last year.

I've owned the Vasque Wasatch for 5-6 years and use them about once per week on 3-5 mile day hikes. I've had no water leakage issues with these boots walking in mud, dew, puddles, or stepping into the occasional bog. The ankle support has been great provided I lace them correctly. The boot construction and materials have held up excellently. Traction has fit my needs. (I don't expect to wear these indoors on tile like some reviewers do.) For me, there was no break-in required, but that's the norm for me. However, after a hike in Arizona scrambling on loose rock, I discovered I had plantar fasciitis (heel spur). I say discovered because the boots have little heel padding and not very good arch support. The pounding my foot took caused my plantar fasciitis to become seriously inflamed. If your feet are young and in good shape (mine are 50+ years old), you can probably tolerate the foot bed in this boot. I have since replaced the foot bed that comes in the boot with custom orthotics, and it has helped tremendously. My only issue is that these boots are heavier than some you can get from, say, Keen. I prefer lighter boots, but they don't have the same level of waterproofing, rugged sole, and good ankle support the Wasatch's have.

I purchased these boots 3 years ago in size 9M for 2-4 mile day hikes 2-3 times a month. The tread has been excellent, ankle support has remained constant, and the boots have remained waterproof. I've developed plantar fasciitis (heel spurs) aggravated by wearing these boots on rocky paths (Arizona). I had custom orthotics created by my podiatrist that insert in to the bed, but with my high instep (not high arches), the boots aren't roomy enough in the vertical direction and I haven't been able to adjust the laces enough to keep from being tight -- this is causing numbness in my foot. These have been an excellent investment, and it grates on me to give them up, but I have to find a pair of boots with a little less heel slip and enough room to accommodate my orthotics.

Slippery when wet these boots have little traction on wet tiles or traction in snow the upper body stretches after exposure to water so if you work outside or travel New York city tiled floors, I would not recommend Vasque.

Very stiff shoe. I've been walking in it around the house and out and about and really it isn't comfortable. I would be afraid to go on a hike until is break these boots in, but unfortunately they don't seem to be breaking in very easily. I am surprised because they got good feedback, but just not the boot for me.

I have a narrow low volume foot but have have had 2 pairs of Vasque boots prior to this pair and absolutely loved them. They were comfortable from the day I put them on. This pair was another story. After 3 outings, I finally gave up and took them back. Wearing them caused pain across the top of my left foot and both ankles were bruised just above my inner ankle bone. Felt like there was a stiff lump in the boot there. The tongue did not cover that area. I tried Green Superfeet and special lacing. Nothing helped.
