Great classic style. Lowest quality construction. This shoes is great if you want a very simple, no-frills classic sneaker. However if you're looking for decent quality at minimum, move on because Vans makes junk. I currently have 3 different pairs of Vans sneakers. These ones (Era Core Classic), a vinyl version and a similar leather version. All three have the exact same problem - the rubber bottom starts separating from the upper within a few months. Everywhere the sole flexes, (mostly around the ball of the foot, on both sides of the shoes) the rubber that overlaps the upper is cracked and peeling away from the upper. If these shoes cost $20 or less, no problem. But shoes costing this much should last more than a few months before they start falling apart. It's unfortunate that Vans quality has fallen so far over the decades. They used to make good quality shoes. Now they make low-quality junk with rubber that can't flex without cracking and glue that doesn't last more than a few months.

I have been wearing Vans since the early 80s. The reason I am writing this review is that over the last year (from 2013-2014), the quality of these shoes has dropped dramatically. Previously, these shoes would last me about 6 months to a year of weekly (but not daily) normal wear. I never skate in Eras, so this is just walking around and driving and stuff like that. The last few pairs I have gotten have lasted 4 to 6 months max. What I noticed changed is that the soles wear down twice as fast. This is especially the case when I wear them to drive my car, which has a manual transmission. Shifting and using the gas kills the rear edges of the soles, which is ridiculous for a skate shoe. Vans needs to maintain a higher level of quality for their sneakers. I feel that their quality is actually going down rather than up currently. I am a loyal wearer of Vans shoes but this is ridiculous because I only wear sneakers when I am off work and relaxing, so not every day, and not all day. I will be looking to other options when my current pair wears out.

Honestly I love the way these shoes fit and look. The only complaint I have is that they are made like complete crap... I go through a pair every 3 months or so because the shoe literally just falls apart. The top fabric gets holes in them, the white sole breaks off from the fabric and the inside of the shoe flakes apart. I'd love to say it's an isolated incident, but I've had 5 of these over the years and it happens to every single one!

I have high arches, but my most comfortable shoes are basic sneakers. I needed a new pair and Soda no longer makes mine, so I decided to try these from Vans. My first concern was how narrow the shoe box was - looked like something slippers would come in. The shoe looked okay (terrible chemical smell though), but as I loosened the laces I felt like there wasn't enough canvas for me to get my foot into. When I tried to put them on, there was no way. Oddly, the length was right and the width was right, there just wasn't enough actual "shoe" on top of the sole. Perhaps for someone with a very flat foot, they might work. Sent them back and I continue my quest for a truly comfortable, good fit, basic sneaker.

As for shipping and service, Zappos went above and beyond to do their part, as usual. However, the shoe itself left me disappointed. I really like vans and have worn then for years, but if you are considering this shoe, get the authentic instead. The vinyl reinforcements under the eyelets make the shoe tight and unforgiving to your feet. The heel is also uncomfortable. Don't get these unless you plan to wear fairly thick socks that protect the heel.

I was in a car accident and I was wearing these shoes. The fragments from the car easily tore thru the canvas of these shoes, almost causing me to lose my toe.

I've been purchasing these shoes for about a decade now. These are definitely different. They're not as comfortable. I don't like them and regret my purchase.

These used to not have leather. The addition of this has made these shoes unwearable and gave me the worst blisters I have ever had. I exchanged them for a pair of Authentic's, which fell apart in a year and aren't even close to being as comfortable. It also makes them not vegan friendly. So now I have to pay more money for the comfycush in order to not have leather or buy the Authentic, which suck. Really disappointed.

No cushioning, smaller fit than the usual size. Not true to size. Not good for slip resistance. Would NOT recommend. Had to return.

Sizing was weird. Much bigger than regular size, but the ankle part sat way too low on the foot. Very uncomfortable.

These fell apart within a month, Zappos does not stand behind their products and would not issue a refund because they do not cover wear and tear. Huh? Will shop with companies that do stand behind their products.

Man shoes were of the poorest quality and the color was more of a faded black not black like it says. Vans is cutting to many corners to save money

I'm not sure where this shoe was made or where Zappos got them, but it puts Vans to shame. Vans has always been known for its high quality and extreme comfort. This pair I received is much tighter, constricting, and overall just very uncomfortable. I have a handful of Vans that I absolutely love. Go to famous footwear or Tilly's if you want legitimate Vans, because these certainly are not authentic by any means.

These shoes cut into the heels of my feet so bad that I can not even wear them. I've tried to suffer through breaking them in and it's been a couple weeks and they aren't getting any better. I like the style for sure but they don't function so I can't wear them. I now have a pair of worn shoes that I can't wear. :(

Vans are really cute shoes but they are not true to size. The white part is not the shoe, only the color part so they cut. When you order a size up the shoe looks long.

I bought a pair of vans authenics from Zappos about a month ago and they have started falling apart. After one day they started cracking around the first lace and at first I thought this was normal wear and tear. I guess I am wrong. I have owned Vans authenics before and never bad this issue but this shoe is cheap and poorly put together. The cracks are in multiethnic places around the shoe and on both of them. It is starting to even crack into the sole. If this is how your shoes are made you can bet I will never be buying a pair of Vans again! I would like a refund or I will not be recommending them to anyone I know and I will put the pictures of your cheap shoes on every so iCal media site I can find.

The design at the top of the heel caused the upper back to cause sores at the back of my feet. They were terrible for walking. I have previously owned a pair of Vans that were fine but am planning to get rid of these.

Not what I expected - I bought these shoes (Vans Era) last summer. I haven't worn them much, because they hurt the back of my heels on my feet. Even with socks I had blisters. I wasn't expecting to have so much trouble. I'm sorry I wasted my money.
I'd also recommend:
Stick with the regular Vans skate shoes.
