These look and feel great. I bought this pair to replace a pair that I've worn nearly every day for years. I expect these to last as long as the last pair.

I like the look of these and the fit was fine. I have to wear an AFO on one ankle and an orthotic under the other foot. I noticed the low cut of the shoe top had my orthotic exposed and on the other foot, the AFO rubbed creating a loud squeaking sound when I walked. Funny, but not really acceptable. Still trying to find a model to accommodate my needs.

Fit and size are good. But the arch support is minimal in my opinion.

If you love Doc Martens, you know who you are, and you know you'll love these shoes. They are a slightly lighter brown than I expected based on the photos. Despite others saying that these run large, the sizing is comparable to my other shoes.

I really like these Dr. Martens 8053 shoes. Problem is, I ordered two other pairs in different styles--too big. I ordered these 8053s in the next size smaller, and they are still two big all the way around the ankles (and this is with 1 thick and 1 less thick pair of socks). These shoes fit everywhere else on my feet. I guess, sob sob, Dr. Martens are not made for me, no matter how much I want some.

This is my second pair of these. First pair is about three years old. This new pair seems a little more rigid and the tongue is definitely thinner and not as padded. Seems like the manufacturer made some money-saving changes to the shoes. That being said, they are still Doc Martens and the style is great and they are comfy.

A very good shoe. A small amount of cracking of the leather around the toe bend.

Like many others, found the sizing to run large. A women's size 10 usually fits fine with the usual wooly socks, but even with socks my feet were swimming! Ordered a size down. Still plenty of room, but more comfy than drowning. One might want to get some insole replacements for these shoes. There's a bit of padding for the heel and ball of foot, but no arch support.

Love the look of these and the soles are thick and durable enough that they won't wear out in a year. However, they laced the shoes up with boot laces and not shoe laces, because after I tied them, each lace had about 12" extra length hanging off, which was a trip hazard. I had to go to Target to buy 30" or 36" laces to replace them. Also, they really need to make half sizes for these shoes.

I had these shoes for about eight years and wore them regularly. I wore them in the snow and in the rain and through mud, and even to go out partying. They held up for the past eight years and I still wear them today (although they are breaking down around the rim now and the sole has worn almost completely so they aren't as comfortable as they used to be. This is an excellent pair of shoes.

I was very disappointed with the fit of this shoe. I have been wearing this style of Dr. Martens as work shoes for years; they are extremely comfortable and supportive for spending many hours on your feet. I needed to replace my old pair, so I ordered the same style and size and the pair I received is much larger than my old pair.

I always wear a women's size 8 but the UK size translated into a size 6. That was way too big. These seemed more like men's shoes. I will have to return these.

Overall, I am very happy with the shoes. Also Zappos is a very easy place to do business with. Only possible complaint with this purchase would be that I ordered the "Nappa" version of this shoe thinking that they would not be shiny and be more of a natural, unpolished look. These have quite a bit of shine to them. Just make sure that you are aware of this before ordering.

I wanted a sturdy shoe for when I work in the lab and, I never wore Docs before so I was curious. Overall, this shoe it a bit heavy, but it fits the bill well. Unfortunately, it was a bit too small. Other reviewers indicated it ran large, so following their recommendations, I got it in a 11. Normally, I'm an 11.5 but I must be closer to a 12 than to an 11, because I bought them in a 12 and those fit fine. Still breaking them in, but so far I'm happy. I'd recommend them.

Very good for walking around on concrete floors for 10 to 12 hours. And the soles hold up well.

It's been years since my last pair of these classics and I couldn't wait for the box to arrive. Still breaking them in which seems to be a longer process than before. Very sturdy shoe, great look and a good value for the money.

Bought these for my husband. They wanted a little breaking in, and he says they're a bit hot compared to his old shoes, so if that's a major concern for you, be advised. Otherwise these are Docs, and should last approximately forever.

My usual women's size is 7.5W. I ordered the equivalent to size 7, based on previous reviews. This was the correct size for me. I so wanted to like this shoe but could not get beyond the stiffness and heaviness so I had to return them unfortunately. Why makes shoes so stiff?

These look great, but feel a lot more stiff than I would prefer.

Felt like they would take way less time to break in than the 1461s but my heel kept slipping out. The padding around the back looks a tad orthopedic but seriously they felt very comfortable, just seemed to run larger than I expected.

I have brought Dr Martens before. These were too tight. I didn’t think I could stand to wear them long enough to break them in. I sent them back.

Ordered a pair in black. You sent one brown, one black.

I was delighted to have recently received my 8053 5 eye black size 7 shoes. They were my first Dr Martens shoe and seemed everything I wanted being black, cushioned collar and comfortable. However, I wore them for the first time and was extremely disappointed to find that my feet got very wet and my socks were soaking. Yes, it was raining but I would have thought that such a durable shoe advertised as Wintergrip, implying that they they were suitable to wear in the snow or when wet and slippery, that they would be water resistant? I wrote to customer service who advised me to purchase from them the wrong protector (wonder balsam). It appears that the gentleman at customer service couldn't ascertain from my order number that they were a suede finish! Very unhelpful especially as I would have expected that ALL Dr Martens shoes should be waterproof? They have not offered to replace the shoes with a waterproof pair, or recommend a suitable waterproofer from the High St which must be considerably cheaper that Dr Martens version.
