I'm a size 7.5 in Frye boots but these were very large in the foot and shaft. Overall they felt a whole size larger. The boots are beautiful though with the quality expected from Frye.

As the other reviews have mentioned, the craftsmanship on this boot is outstanding. I like to have a roomy toebox and I have that in this shoe. If you are concerned about the calf width, I think it is very roomy. I have average calves and, if anything, the calf area is too large. Great boot. I look forward to wearing it for many years to come. I ordered the boot in sunrise and it is a bright leather, which I really like.

I purchased these when on sale a few months ago from Zappos at the best price I've ever seen. They arrived within a day or two. They seem to fit pretty true to size, 10 for me, although the toe box is a little narrow, so I don't wear them much with thick socks. Fairly comfortable out of the box, they have become better after breaking in. I think they'd look better with a lower heel, but the heel doesn't hurt the comfort. The leather gave off a strange and kind of unpleasant smell, like that of a carpet being shampooed, for a couple of months. It's not like a typical leather smell. The smell went away after about two months, but I didn't like being around these boots indoors until then. Since they should last 20 years, that's not too much trouble.

I bought these boots at my usual size and they fit fine, I have a slightly wide foot, but they do not feel overly snug. However I found them to be really wide in the shaft and they seem to come out around the ankle making them look quite sloppy, I really think the measurements are wrong. I was planning to wear them over my jeans, but I am not too keen on that now. The shoe part looks really nice under wider pants, especially in the white I bought. I have slim calves, so I think they would be better on someone with average to wider calves, though, I still think they would bag out at the ankle.

Michelle from CT - Wear a size 10 normally and purchased a size 10...right choice. I myself DO NOT recommend ordering 1/2 size down as others did and my foot is medium to narrow...Purchased them in blue suede...very cool! Only reason I rated them 3 stars for comfort is because I am CONSTANTLY wiping out on any smooth surface (even my garage floor). The smooth sole and heel makes them slippery as heck--no grip--watch out. I think I'll look into have a rubber widget or something attached to sole so I don't fall...otherwise the look of the boot is awesome.

Frye Boots - This is my second pair of Frye Boots. I find each pair roomy in the heel. However, once the boot is broken in, the boot seems to mold and they fit much better. This pair - the 14L - are a little snug in the toe box.

Anonymous - LOVE these boots! They are well made and the brown suede is beautiful. I did run into the same problem that other posters have had with these boots. They are tight in the foot bed, but loose in the heel. Going down a half size does not work ... way to tight! I just put insoles in the shoes and wear thick socks.

Excellent workmanship! These are very well made boots that will last a long time. Consequently, they are a great investment. They will take some time to break in but I am confident that when they have molded to fit my feet, they will be very comfortable.

Frye Campus boots in Snow White - As with the other Fryes I tried on, the heel was loose and slid up and down when I walked, and the foot part of the boot (the part that's not the heel) felt pretty narrow on my already narrow feet. I added an insole, which helped with the sliding around. The tightness has eased up, too. I guess they needed to stretch out a bit. I initially bought the harness boot but had to send it back for the same reason (tight foot bed, loose heel), only worse. All in all, I really love this boot. It's very comfortable now and the color is really unique and beautiful. I get comments and jealous ooohs and ahhs everywhere I go.

Any of the Frye boots. I also have a frye bag that has held up for years.

initially, I was quite happy. The style, the fit, the leather are great, but...... there is no cushioning and, after wearing them at work all day, my feet hurt. I tried to place Scholls insets to provide some cushion, but then the boots were too tight. I have Lucchese boots that fit and wear well all day and much better than these. Any way, I ordered some heavier boot socks and they seem to help a bit as they provide some cushioning, but they don't completely solve the problem. I am disappointed because I really like the boots. I just can't wear them to work all day.

Very nice boot. Disappointed that after 5 days both doles cracked across the ball of the foot. Customer service provided a return shipping label. They were delivered back to you today. Waiting for my replacement pair!

I wish they fit right... Frye Campus 14L -- this is one gorgeous, well-made boot. I am an 8.5 with a wide foot, so I ordered an 8.5 (not available in wide), although many people say to take a half size smaller than usual. I had the same experience that someone mentioned here -- tight footbed, loose heel. The heel was actually flopping like a clog, but the front was tight! So I reluctantly sent them back. That night, I went to a store nearby and tried on a pair of Size 8's in Model 12L. Way too tight. I'm so disappointed because these are beautifully made, and the brown is so rich. But I still love Zappos, and the service is amazing...!

Extended review; I have had these for about 6 months, wearing 1-2 days each week in the fall. The good; the frye Campus is maybe the best looking boot ever. I get compliments on these every time I wear them, they dress up or down, overall they are an essential style for your collection. The not good: the fit is...loose. I have 6 pairs of cowboy boots in my collection(and 2 pair of Frye western styles), these have the loosest mid foot of any of them, by a lot. I added thick socks, added an insole, and it's tolerable now but far from what you would expect from a medium width. Length is true to boot sizing. The also not good: the leather quality is questionable. The thickness of the leather felt different between left and right boot when I received them, I wrote it off thinking I was crazy. Over the last 6 months, the thinner feeling leather has developed many more creases and a looser fit than the other. See pics. I expected better from a boot at this price point. Overall, this is a great looking boot with a lot of cool history, just beware of sizing and leather quality. I love Frye products in general(and own several), but the fit and quality of this boot misses the mark. I hope this is helpful, happy boot hunting!

I just received this boot, paid 2 day air so I could take it on my trip to Seattle for Christmas. With my other Frye boots, I wear a 7.5 size, but based on all the reviews here, I sized down to 7, but even with thick socks, the boots slip off my heals. It looks like I may have to size down further to a 6.5, but I'm not sure that those will fit. Other than that the boot is a good, sturdy, quality Frye boot and I love Frye boots. It does have a straight, thick/wide,"tree trunk" look at the ankle which is different, not so sure that I like that as my other Fryes are curvy, come in at the ankle, but I was willing to go with a new look... oh well... maybe another style... one thing is certain, I will always wear Frye boots -as long as they keep their quality standards. I would prefer if they made all of them in USA, not Mexico. Thanks!

Bought these Boots a little over a month ago and am not pleased with them at all. This purchase was the second in maybe two years. The first pair were perfect in looks and wear, and I wanted another pair for rotating wear. The most recent pair are well put together, but materials are sub standard for use on a boot of such price and quality. There are depressions in the leather of the toes of the boots taking away from a smooth surface. The boots have not been worn yet, only to try on. I would very much like to have them replaced but as yet have not had the time due to Vacationing. S.E.D.

I was very excited to order a pair of Campus boots in the sunrise color. I have a pair from the 70s/80s which I wear often, but was looking forward to updating things a bit. I will also point out that I have a number of modern Frye boots, all made in the last few years: A pair of Harness 12R's, two pairs of Billy Pull Ups, and a Wyatt Americana, all of which I totally love and wear often. So, I open the box up and here's what I am seeing: The boots, even though very tall, are very light. They don't feel robust. The heels don't feel very substantial. The entire boot doesn't have any rugged build qualities like my harness boots. The leather is a lot thinner than on my vintage ones, especially on the shaft. Not to be cruel, but it kind of looks like a woman's boot build. Bummer. And it's too bad. I love the color. But it just doesn't look or feel substantially made. It doesn't look like a boot that's gonna last a few decades like my old ones. So, I am not sure what's going on with these new ones, but it would be nice to see them made more substantially. They look like a girly fashion boot. Not to mention one of the pull tabs was already broken off when I unboxed themso, return in progress. Also, please make a Cavalry or Harness boot in some interesting leathers. All there are is drab browns and "tans" that look like drab brown and black. It would be nice to see some real tans or orange-cognacs or something like the old school Frye leathers. I'd love to throw more money at you, so help a guy out here...

Bought these because I wore a couple of pairs in high school and college (actually wore a pair everyday). Although the quality and workmanship seemed great they just did not feel the same as my old pairs did. These felt a lot bulkier and heavier than I remember and didn't feel they would be comfortable for me. I am not criticizing the product, don't think they were a match for me so I returned them.
