I don't know why people love these things. I've wanted a pair for years, and I finally get them and they are terrible. They are supposed to be "soft footbed". Well, there was nothing soft about it. It felt like concrete covered in suede that was all pilled up. The shoes looked like they had already been worn, didn't come in a Birkenstock box (just a plain shoebox) and there were some Birkenstock tags thrown into the box that probably used to be attached to the shoe. For this much money, I would have expected the shoes to be unworn and packaged a bit nicer. Well, if they'd felt good, the box and all of the other stuff probably wouldn't have bothered me. They were the right size lengthwise, but the arch of the left shoe felt like it was cutting my foot to the bone. I have a normal wide foot, not an extra wide foot, and all the reviews rave about how these things are so wide. Well, don't you believe it. They are wide, but the arch sticks up so high and hard it takes away from the width. I bought them because I have some back issues, and these made my back hurt instantly when I tried to take a few steps around my carpeted home. No way will I ever buy this brand again. I know they have lots of fans, but I'm not going to break my back just to break in a pair of shoes that take (what I'm told) is a very long time to break in. Too much money for the amount of pain, trouble and the suede also felt super hot and too nubby, not smooth in any way.

The left shoe has a rough suede texture and the right shoe has a smooth suede texture. That is a noticeable difference.

This was my first pair of Birkenstock's and I was so excited because of all the hype. For the price I thought I would be walking on clouds but no. I am very disappointed, they are hard and uncomfortable. I began to feel heel spurs and wore them more to see if I can get used to them so I can't return them. So sad and they were so expensive!
