This style and size are a perfect fit. They’re roomy in the toes and snug enough not to slip around or fall off. VERY comfortable and I can wear them all day long walking around anywhere. Love these shoes!

Don’t get the Leather if you plan to wear without socks. I’m in my 40’s and have worn Birkenstock’s since I was a teenager. This is my second pair of the soft footbed but my first ever pair of closed toe clogs. The upper leather is incredibly stiff and quickly becomes painful on bare feet. I should have ordered these in suede. I’ve even run them through my clothes dryer in a pillowcase on low heat (I’m that desperate). Definitely get the soft footbed but think twice about the stiffness of the leather upper. I don’t think they will ever get soft.

shoes fit perfectly. True to size. Fit like all Birkenstocks. These are my new favorite for summer when I do not feel like wearing my open toe Birkenstocks. So comfy

I have a dozen pairs of Birkenstocks in a range of models. My current favorite are soft footbed oiled leather Bostons. The soft footbed Bostons are comfortable in July with no socks and in January with thick wool socks. The plush soft footbed requires you to move up one size if you wear thick socks.
If you are new to Birks, wear your soft footbed Bostons only two or three hours a day for a couple of weeks so that your feet can adjust to the added arch support.
Oiled leather Bostons are rain resistant (the suede version is NOT). I treat them with Red Wing Boot Oil when the leather looks a bit dry. With regular cleaning and oiling the oiled leather Bostons will last ten or fifteen years...just replace the soles when needed.

I love my new Port Suede birkenstocks! The color is rich and adds a bit of spunk to my typical outfit of jeans + white/black/grey top. I wore them all day right out of the box and they felt great. As to sizing - like many have noted, they run big. I am always a 9M. Always. But in these shoes a 39 narrow is a perfect fit. And that still allows me room to wear them with socks in the winter, like I did yesterday. Shoes like this are expensive but an investment that is worth it.

Runs incredibly wide and long- if you have narrow little pixie feet like I do (male) order on the smaller side. I wear 9 D/M in most athletic shoes (Nike, Vans) and some 8 (Red Wing Heritage, CT70’s) and ended up returning the 9-9.5 (42 euro) for the 8-8.5 (41) which fits perfectly, if still a little wide. Other than that, they’re really comfy. Never had Birkenstock’s before, so I’m still getting used to them, but it’s pretty much all I’ve been wearing once I’m home from work.

I have many pairs of Birkenstocks, sandals and clogs. I have been looking at this oiled leather clog for awhile and finally purchased it. My usual size is a 38, but I had to send them back for the 39 Narrow. The 38 was o.k. but having the soft footbed must have made a slight difference, because I didn't feel I had ample room for a pair of heavy socks that I need in cold weather. The red oiled leather is very nice. I still miss my favorite "Bern" style, that had the look of a more feminine maryjane. Still my favorite pair...but such is life. This pair is very pretty.

These shoes are wonderful. The soft bed option is very comfy; arch support superb and quite pronounced in a very good way. I work in retail and am standing for 8 - 9 hours with much walking and climbing small ladders and wanted a comfy alternative shoe than the standard rigid-soled Dansko that everyone seems to wear. I actually don't have high arches but these feel absolutely great after standing on my feet for many hours. I normally wear a US women's size 7.5 M, and I bought both the 38 narrow and the 39 narrow. The 39 felt a bit too roomy, so I'm sticking with the 38. One side note - I have a 2nd and 3rd toe that are slightly longer than the big one, so my toe line doesn't actually follow the toe line of the Birkenstock shoes...meaning that second and third toe do have a tendency to ever so slightly bump at the top, but not nearly enough to be painful or annoying or even make me think of returning. The size 39 would've alleviated this completely, but the rest of the shoe is too big. Bottom line, the 38 narrow still fits and feels great on my 7.5 M feet and I would order same size and same shoe again! Love them!

My teenage daughter loves these. They are super comfortable. Run large. She is typically a size 7 1/2 and the size 37 fit her in these.

I discovered Birkenstocks early last year and I now own 7 pairs, lol!! This is my second pair of clogs and my first time trying the softbed as my other clogs are the shearling lined (THEE BEST for cooler California nights!) I am so happy with a regular pair of Boston clogs for summer when my toes and feet need some TLC but also when I want to stay cooler. I always treat my Birks with suede protection the second they are out of the box. Once dry, I wear them around the house for a couple of hours a day for at least 4 days before I wear them out. This helps them to adjust to my feet. The softbed is new to me, like I mentioned earlier, however I LOVE them! Extra cushion is always welcome and they feel awesome! I am usually a size 8 in traditional sneakers (sometimes a 7.5) and a 7 in UGGs so the 38s (7-7.5s) in Birks works amazing for me! I used their measurements at first and they said I would need a 39 but my two first pairs (that are 39s) are too big. If they are too big, your front toes don't stay in position and the shoes can be very uncomfortable do to the ridge by the toes. Ido want to mention, though, that the softbed has a much smaller ridge than the other styles so this might work better for those who find other Birks uncomfortable. Definitely make sure you measure your feet and try some on in store to be safe! Overall, no regrets... these might be my favorite right now! These will be great for traveling on the plane next week!

Once again, another excellent purchase from Birkenstock!! I got my first pair of sandals this summer and couldnt bear the fact that I'd have to put them away for the cold months. So, I got a winter pair!! I LOVE them. They go with basically everything except my work clothes, but that's totally ok. As long as your know your Birkenstock size, they fit really well! I ordered my usual size and I still am able to wear chunky socks with them.

Ahhhhhh...The Boston soft footbed is wonderful! Birkenstocks are known for comfort, and in the 35-ish years I've been wearing them, I've experienced their comfort firsthand. As I've gotten older, the classic/regular footbed has felt a bit hard for my feet, so I'm thrilled to have these soft footbed Birks. I first tried the soft footbed in an Arizona style, in a store, a few years back and loved the way they felt, but wasn't in the market for that style, as I already had two pairs of regular footbed Birk sandals in another style. A friend recently let me try on her soft footbed Bostons (after she raved about their unbelievable comfort) and I was sold. After having tried a few pairs of more trendy Oxford-style shoes recently, and finding them uncomfortable, I finally decided to purchase these. So, so glad I did! My foot is probably average width (maybe a tiny bit wider than a foot that hasn't lived a large portion of its life in good, wide-enough Birkenstocks.) I usually wear a 38 regular width in Birkenstocks, which is listed as fitting U.S. women's sizes 7-7.5 (though I usually wear an 8 in other shoes) and these size 38 Bostons fit perfectly with mid-weight socks, like they were made especially for me. The soft footbed is really, really comfy, and has good support. The length is just right, and the black Amalfi leather is solid and sturdy. I tried the black suede as well, and though they were beautiful brand new, they felt a bit floppy, as though they might not be as durable as the smooth leather. Also, the smooth leather can look a tiny bit dressier(?) than suede, so I kept the Amalfi black leather. It's also really attractive. Wore them the first time with a short skirt, black leggings, and funky socks, and they look really cute -- more cute than I remember Boston's looking. Might be the first time I'm seen black leather Bostons, in real life. Pretty spiffy. They're super comfy, well made, and worth the money.

Yes, they're a little wide, but they're supposed to be... they're unisex. My toes spread out in happiness. The soft insole is awesome. I bought them mostly to cook in because my kitchen has hard wood floors and they hurt my back. It did the trick! I can stand and cook or run around the City.

The Birkenstock Boston soft footbed is the most comfortable shoe that I have ever worn. The shoe is particularly good for wide feet and can be worn without discomfort the first time they are worn!

These are super comfortable, but I will be going back for the leather version. These are very slipper like and I bought them for use at work due to swollen, pregnant feet. I also have super wide feet and a very high arch and I stand all day on my feet for a living so I needed something that would be amazingly comfortable. It is safe to say they are not the prettiest of shoes, not even close but they are squishy and roomy and super comfortable, so I look forward to getting the leather version and give my feet some tender loving care during my pregnancy. If you have weird or problematic feet like mine, buy these! As always Zappos delivers superior customer service and it was no issue exchanging these for the others. They are friendly, efficient and always on the ball which is why I will continue to be a loyal Zappos customer for the long haul.

This is my second pair of these. I wear them as slippers and love them. Originally I bought them because I was having trouble finding slippers with enough arch support after my high arches gave me several years of plantar faciitis pain. My podiatrist recommended Birkenstocks. The color is nice; in person it is sort of a Weimeriner dog color, which is pretty and versatile. The soft bed is incredibly soft and rivals that of any conventional slipper. You definitely need to buy a size smaller than what you think. I wear a woman's size 8 and a 38 in Birkenstocks. Even though I have very high arches, I prefer these to the new high arch Birkenstocks. They really do conform to your feet over time and my plantar faciitis has not returned as a result of wearing these. Also, I think they are the most attractive and feminine of all the Birk styles.

Very comfortable. I am usually between a 7½ and 8, so I ordered both the 38 and 39. The 39 was way too big; 38 fit perfectly.

I have owned two other Birkenstock Bostons with the regular footbed. However, my feet always hurt as if I was standing on rocks if I was still for too long with my other two. Upon reading about the Soft Footbed, I was excited at the prospect of the shoe I love, but without pain. I was greatly rewarded. These are like Birkenstocks crossed with running shoes. I love the padding and go on daily mile walks in them with no soreness whatsoever. I just bought more because I love them so much. Also, the customer service is the best I have ever seen in any store - real or online! I will recommend these shoes and Zappos to anyone who will listen!

Love birks for work!!!
I work 16 hrs a day 3 days a week, before my birks I wore tennis shoes and came home with giant swollen, sore throbbing feet, now that I wear Birkenstocks to work, I have no swelling, no throbbing, and no sore feet. They are amazing! I will no longer wear anything else to work.(p.s -I’m a nurse on her feet all day)

Comfy -
If you are new to Birkenstock, I highly recommend getting the soft footbed. A lot more comfortable than the regular footbed. I wear a size 9.5 and I had originally ordered size 40, but they were a tad small, so I returned them and got the size 41. Perfect. I have a wide, flat foot and it is extremely difficult to get comfortable stylish shoes. I am extremely pleased with these shoes.

Possibly the most Comfortable Pair of Shoes I've Ever Owned -
I have owned 5 other pairs of Birks (3 Sandals, 2 clogs) and they have all been the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. In fact, it's hard for me to wear almost any other shoe but Birkenstocks simply due to the fact that I'm so adjusted to Birks. And I've been wearing my #1 pair of Birk sandals for the last 9 months straight, due to a winter in Guatemala, and I got so used to wearing Birks that any time I put on anything else, my knees began to have immediate problems. But the cold weather is beginning to come in, and I decided it was time to get some cool weather shoes. So I looked for a new pair of Birks. I've only owned these Boston Soft Bed Sandals for 4 days, and even though I haven't "broken them in" yet (which typically takes about a month or two for Birks) ~ these are easily the *MOST COMFORTABLE* Birk shoes I have experienced *yet*. In fact, they may well be the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn on my feet in my whole life. I feel like I'm wearing big warm fuzzy, soft, cushiony mattresses on my feet that make every step delicious. Every part of my feet sings in orchestrated praise with every step. When I come home, I don't want to take off my shoes. I'd go to sleep wearing these shoes if I weren't a nudist. The only thing about these shoes that I don't completely love is the fact that Birks are plain and boring. They lack funkiness, creativity and color. But I wouldn't wear anything else.

Excellent!
I have back, knee foot arthritis and plantar fasciitis problems. I have worn Birkenstocks since the 70's, but the old style started to hurt my arthritis. I was advised to try this particular one, because the soft footbed is so much more comfortable. They were right! Birks have really improved on a great thing! Highly recommend this for high arch as well!

The fit is excellent. I have strangely shaped feet: very wide, and somewhat tall. With the extra width that the Birkenstock "regular" provides, I can go down from a 9-9.5 to a 7 (38), which is much closer to the true length of my foot. They are also sufficiently tall for my arches, though they do rub on the tops until broken in. I love the cork footbed: I sprained my ankle earlier this year and have found myself needing arch support ever since, so I traded some flats for these. They do take a while to break in, but I find that most of that is spent softening the leather rather than "shaping the footbed." I got the Black Amalfi leather finish.
