I am a regular wearer of Birkenstock's soft foot bed sandals. Great to find a covered toe clog in this style. I had been waiting for the Mocha color to be restocked by Zappos. Shoe is very comfortable right out of the box. The suede is soft and the clog can be tightened for a more secure fit by the buckle strap going across the top. I can wear these all day long. I highly recommend Birkenstock's soft foot bed sandals as a first-try option to anyone who hasn't worn these before. The soft foot bed is comfortable for those who can't tolerate the regular hard cork foot bed. The arch support is terrific!

This Boston Birkenstock is so comfortable! I got it in the soft footbed in a narrow and it fit and felt so comfortable right out of the box. Unless you have a wide foot, I would recommend this one in the narrow because I tried the regular first and it was way too wide. The soft football it the best too, because it feels great right away. Absolutely love these these shoes. These are my daily go to. Have been wearing the Boston for over 30 years. I typically get 5 plus years out of them before replacing or having them resoled. Also, the soft foot bed is a must. Totally worth the extra spend. Can go wrong with Birkenstock. Solid purchase.

I have been using Birkenstocks for many many years. I couldn't really do without them. The support and comfort they provide cannot be beaten. I have tried both the regular and the soft foot beds. The soft is definitely more comfortable. The style of course is classic and I don't mind that, but perhaps someone out there can think of a new style. Can't promise that I would like it though!!

I got the last pair in 2008 So this was my second pair These are likely the best shoes that I have ever used Once can use them with scrubs ,with jeans, with shorts and while traveling Now I am using them while traveling in India Previoulsy I have used them in Kauii on the beaches and mountains The best part is that the sole molds to your feet and makes the shoe very very comfortable Moreover they need minimal or no care at all I am looking forward to buying the third pair after 8 or so years :)

I discovered Birkenstock sandals earlier this year. I'm a hairstylist, and work on my feet all day. I found that Birkenstocks are the only shoes I can wear that my feet don't hurt at the end of the day. As the weather started getting colder, I realized I needed a pair of closed toe shoes. I found these, and I've been wearing them since the day I got them. They are so comfortable and supportive. They won't win any fashion shows, but I really don't care at this point.

I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks last year - I bought the Mayeri women's sandal for a trip to Italy. After walking 5+ miles a day, with amazing support and comfort, I was totally converted! I recently got a standing desk at work and needed something with good support, but that I could also wear around the office. The Bostons were perfect. I can easily slip out of my dress shoes and into the Boston's when I am at my standing desk and in my office, then I slip my dress shoes back on when I need to go to meetings. Since these are unisex, I needed to go with the narrow width. But other than that they were true to size. I plan on getting a pear of Boston Shearlings to wear as slippers around the house. If they work this good at my standing desk, they will be perfect for standing in the kitchen.

My 35-year old navy Boston's are still going strong, but I wanted to have a soft footbed version as well, and chose black this time around. They are fabulous, and my new everyday shoe for cooler weather or when I'm in a cooking frenzy (to protect my toes from spills AND enjoy the soft support for long stretches on my feet). I was especially pleased to note that the new shoe and my "vintage" pair are identical in size, feel, etc. except, of course, for the cushier soft footbed. It's great to know Birkenstock is not tinkering with a proven classic, and is adhering to the design and manufacturing standards that have earned them the loyalty of their ever-expanding customer base...those who value comfort and quality over ephemeral & frivolous fashion statements.

The Boston soft footbeds fit like other soft footbed Birks -- same length but slightly narrower than the hard footbed. That's great for me because I wear a AA, and I don't need two pairs of socks with the "narrow" Bostons. (I need two pairs with my narrow hard footbeds. I can tighten the straps on Arizonas for no socks.) I am wearing my Bostons as clogs around the house. They keep my feet warm on my uncarpeted floors, and they are wonderful for standing in the kitchen. These are quite attractive for Birks, and I like how the brown suede looks. I look forward to wearing them.

This is a beautiful blue color, so dark it is almost black. Of course it has the fit we have all come to expect. I would like a little more pizazz in this shoe (like imbedded swirls) but the fit and color are great.

These are fantastic -- like all the other Birks I have. The soft bed is a little different -- very soft compared to regular Birks. The leather is oiled blue and stands up well to scuffs, etc. They have some variation in the leather so it's not completely monotone -- it looks better than I expected.

I am fairly new to Birkenstock footwear and have preferred Merrill and Keen in the past 7-10 years. I have placed my feet in Birks before and not been impressed cause they just didn't feel good from the first day. I was not convinced that they could be broken in and become a comfortable shoe. I did finally bite the bullet and try a pair of Birk sandals this summer. I find that at the end of the day my other "comfort" shoes didn't feels so great and I couldn't wait to kick them off and put my Birks back on (no open toe shoes allowed at work). This is my second pair of Birkenstock shoes that I have purchased in the last 3 months and this pair did NOT require any break in period what so ever!! The footbed was softer than the sandal Birk that I have been wearing this summer and immediately was comfortable. I cannot say they are the best looking shoes that I own but I will say that they are the most comfortable and in my opinion that is worth every penny. Now that I have closed toe Birks and can wear them to work, my feet are the happiest they've been in years!! Bring on the hard concrete floors, I can take it!

This is my first pair of Boston clogs, though I have worn Birk sandals for years. I bought them to wear through the fall and winter here in California. Well, when I put them on they were comfortable like all Birks. I especially like the soft footbed. Also as usual, I had to make an extra hole in the strap, because I wear the regular width, but have flat feet, so don't fill out the depth of the shoes. Anyway, as far as sizing goes, I have found that once you know your size, it remains true across all classic styles. I wear an 8, and a 38 in Birks. Now about the style. Holy Moly, somebody said that they look like platypus bills, and it's a perfect description. It takes chutzpah to go out in these, but do it! They are so out of fashion that it's unbelievable, but you won't want to take them off. Plus, if you roll the bottom of your jeans up about an inch, and wear with socks, the look is sort of cute. So go rock your Birks. Confidence is always attractive, even if your shoes aren't.

I recently started wearing Birkenstocks and wonder why I waited so long to become a convert. Yes, they're pricey, but worth it. The soft footbed makes all the difference, I had tried on the regular footbed in the past and found it hard and uncomfortable but the soft footbed is great. I need a wide shoe due to bunions and the wide toebox is perfect for me. They're comfortable with socks or without. One minor comment on the color of these blue Bostons- they're much more like navy than the color in the photo. It's ok, they're very neutral, but I was expecting something lighter. I have the dark brown ones too and ordered the gray, but the grey and dark brown were so similar in color, that I returned the gray, even though I liked it.

I live in Chacos all summer, so when winter comes around, I'm at a loss! My hubby has has a pair of Birks for 15 years now that he uses as his indoor shoes and wanted me to have some too. Out of the box the regular width felt a bit too roomy on top, but I didn't think the footbed should be any narrower...I had read reviews that unless you have very wide feet, you should get the narrow. My feet measure 4.25 in at their widest point across, and regular width is perfect. The softer footbed is nice; it doesn't take too long to break them in. I adjusted to the looser feel in the top of the shoe, and they work great with thick socks. I even love them barefoot! So, the price is a lot for "house shoes" but I think they are worth it...especially if I wear them for 15 years like the hubs.

I have fairly wide, sensitive feet with arch pain. These shoes were recommended to me, but I put off buying them for a long time because of the "clunky" look. Once I realized that life is too short to spend it in uncomfortable shoes, I went ahead and got a pair of black leather Bostons with the soft footbed. Wow, I have never had such comfortable shoes. The footbed is firm but supportive in all the right places, with just the right amount of cushioning. My toes are happy with plenty of room to flex the way they were meant to. The leather is beautiful and of excellent quality. To top it off, I wore them to a busy big box store and nobody looked at my shoes, so all thoughts of being self-conscious in them were just silly and wasted energy. I wear a size 36 in other European shoes, and the 36 regular Bostons fit perfectly with medium-weight socks.

These are wonderful shoes. I bought them to use as my fall/winter house shoes. slippers can be so ugly and you can't step outside in them. these are pricey but perfect to wear in the home instead of ugly slippers and then wear them out as well. Don't need to tell you that with care Birks last forever and can easily be repaired. The investment is worth it. FYI for most women, unless you know you have a super wide foot, the small or narrow foot bed is best. They have less of that boxy full toe box and look more proportioned to the body.

I have had a pair of Birks in rotation for the past 25 years, and they never fail to please. I am a veterinarian and am on my feet (and crawling around on the floor) all day long, and these are the only shoes that keep my feet happy. I have had previous issues with plantar fasciitis, and the soft footbed on these shoes makes a huge difference. I rotate with Dansko clogs, but these are much lighter and easier to wear on 12 hour days. I wear a 9.5 shoe and always get a size 40 in Birks.

I bought a pair of these at a thrift store ten years ago, and have worn them every day since then. The arch support is slightly more than I would like, as it causes my feet to supinate (roll outward). Subsequently, the treads are more worn on the outer edges of the heels. That said, these things are so comfortable that I hardly ever take them off. Mine are large enough to wear with socks, which I always do. Super comfy in the winter with a pair of extra thick wool socks, so I still wear them as long as there is less than 8 inches of snow. Seriously, they are really that comfortable. I paid nine dollars for mine, and am ready to replace them. I have absolutely no hesitation to buy a new pair at full price, as I'm confident they will easily give a decade of service. Fouteen bucks a year for the world's most comfortable shoe ain't bad at all.

I am writing this review 2½ year after purchase because I just ordered their replacement. I have worn these every day since October 2011 I am just ordering a new pair because the footbed feels a bit flat. There is minimal wear on them. I do not wear socks with them and this has not been a problem at all. They have retained their shape. My biggest problem was they squeaked when I first got them - for like a month. I tried way, oil, tape etc., but the buckle squeaked. It was extremely comical since I am 40! I love these and they are not going in the trash despite their age. They are worth the price and the squeak. I love them!

I Love Birkenstocks! These shoes are very comfortable and took no time to break in. I got them and by the end of a few hours I didn't even remember that I had them on. I don't understand how people can say these shoes hurt. As far as style goes..I don't know why people say that these shoes are ugly? Birkenstocks are a cute shoe...they are NOT for going down the runway with..they are for everyday use to have normal feet. People that need fashionable looking shoes shouldn't even be looking at Birkenstocks. They should stick to their high heels and flip flops and keep continuing to have serious foot problems along with a bunch of other mechanical issues with their bodies. I have super flat feet and have had heel pain and serious foot pain wearing regular shoes, since wearing Birkenstocks and Earth shoes my pains have disappeared completely. DON'T judge these shoes by their looks, comfortable shoes might not be beautiful but your feet will love you for purchasing these or any of the Birkenstock shoes. I am hooked on Birkenstock shoes I have 3 pairs so far and have about 10 different ones that I have my eye on. My Arizona's are my favorite so far...I live in these shoes from the time I get up to the time I go to sleep, can't imagine wearing any other brand of shoes. Also wear Haflinger Grizzly wool clogs...love these too.

I have arthritis and metatarsalgia in my left foot which causes pain in the large joint behind my big toe. These are the only shoes I can walk in without pain. The soft footbed supports my foot just right and relieves all pressure on that joint. I went ahead and got a pair of Arizona sandals with the soft footbed and they are just as comfortable. The Bostons did need a few days to break in and shape to my foot, but now they are perfect. I wish all Birkenstock styles came with the soft footbed.

This is my second pair of the Boston soft footbed shoes. I love them. I work in a busy deli with a major focus on catering. Being on my feet for up to 9 hrs these shoes were the answer to my plantar fasciitis issues. In the year and a half since I've been wearing these my plantar fasciitis is improved almost 100%. I would recommend these to anyone who has to be on their feet for long periods of time. They are also almost slip proof on the floor surface at work. Not totally but better than most. Nothing but Birks for this gal!

Extremely comfortable work shoe. Much better than the Danskos I have been wearing around the hospital for the last five years. The soft footbed was new to me but I love it even more than my standard footbed Birks. Should have made the work shoe switch a long time ago. The brown leather is also good for hiding blood stains incurred in the operating room. Solid choice.

Comfortable right out of the box. Wore all day first day and several times since. Other reviewers are right - the narrow is perfect for a medium with foot. Soft footbed is perfect, no break-in needed.
