Function, Comfort, Value, Looks - I wanted a boot for western riding, both here near Philly and in Arizona, where I do riding vacations. I have sensitive feet, with a neuroma in one. I've tried on cowboy boots of all sorts. The Ariat is the first that works. I've had this pair for a month or so, and was able to use them right away without any break-in. I'm happy, and Ace the horse is happy. The boots look good, they stay on in the heel, and the footbed is very comfortable. These boots work for walking as well as riding. Maybe I could even dance in them (if I could dance at all...)

Excellent work boot - with comfort & style - This is my frist western style boot purchase in years and it was a great one. This boot is comfortable for all day wear at work or even with casual dress. I would highly recommend this boot to someone seeking a great western style boot.

Ariat Heritage Roper review - I ordered this boot for my son for Christmas. Not only was it an exceptional buy (and I adore Zappos for not charging shipping!) But it is also an exceptional quality, good-looking boot. I ordered a half-size larger than usual based on other reviews I read here before ordering. It was a great fit on my son and he said they were extremely comfortable to put right on and wear. He has bought Ariat boots before for himself, his wife and me, and we all love them. They do run a bit small and narrow. Incidentally, Customer Service and reliability on the part of Zappos are second to none!

This boot is a no-frills boot that fits true to size, is comfortable, and seems to wear well as a light duty motorcycle boot. I bought these for use as an everyday boot to replace simple dress shoes in a business casual environment, and for my commute on my motorcycle. The Ariat Heritage Roper, with a good coat of polish, fits my needs perfectly.

A stylish but simple casual boot. Looks good with jeans or slacks. Comfortable for walking around town and in offices. The sole is a little thin for wearing in rough or rocky terrain, as you will feel stones etc., but it is not painful or distressing, just noticeable.

My husband needed western boots for a party, but he has wide feet and can\'t wear narrow-toed boots. The wide fit comfortably, but I had to buy a size larger than what he usually wears.

Roper Boots - The boots themselves are great. I think it is my feet that do not agree with the boots. I got them in 10EE and the left boot was perfect, while the right was a bit tight in width. I tried a couple of different pairs of the same size and had the same problem. I figured that I would just try to break them in while wearing them. After about a day I realized that the right insole's arch was to far forward. I fixed this by putting in a pair of Dr. Scholl's memory foam inserts and now these are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

Ariat ropers - Got these a year ago, replaced Justin ropers. I wear them all day everyday, riding, farm work, etc. They are very comfortable but don't breathe as well as the Justin's, feet get hot in summer. They don't have as much a western look as other boots, look more like motorcycle boots. And, they are made in China. That said, I like them and if they last as long as Justins (3-4 years), I'll probably get another pair.

When I received these boots, they did not look like what I thought they would look like. Although the online picture was accurate as to the appearance, it was not what I had in my mind. Still, they are good looking boots that fit perfectly and are very comfortable.

Ariat Heritage - I never got the boot on. It was so narrow in the throat of the boot that I believe I would have needed two or more sizes larger than my foot to get in it. Very attractive well made upper. The sole was a bit more space age in appearance than I was prepared for. Return process worked fine.

I have tried these boots on only once. They are very tight and feel a whole size smaller. I ordered them in size 9D, since no one seems to make a triple E size boot. I am still considering returning these boots, but quite frankly don't know what size to order now.

I bought these for work. I needed a boot that would be comfortable all day but also stand up to weather extremes, the general chaos of airports, and look good with dress slacks and a tie. These hit the mark! They do a great job of keeping my feet dry and are still comfy even after a 14 hour day. I usually wear a 9.5, but with Ariat's I find a half size smaller fits better.

Very comfortable after ordering a half size smaller than my feet measure. I started with a half size larger which I usually wear for casual shoes than tried my actual size. With a half size larger and even with my true size, my heel was just too loose. I finally ordered a half size smaller, 9.5 D, and now have very comfortable boots with room in the forefoot and just a slight amount of room for the heel to lift. With a half size smaller than I measure, I get that 'pop' when my heel seats in the boot. And Zappos made re ordering and exchanging very easy.

Bought these for my son, they fit great right out of the box. He's breaking them in so I'll update later on comfort.

My husband has been wearing the Ariat Heritage Roper to his professional job for years. He has wide feet and calves, so he wears a 9EE, and it's the only boot he's found that feels just right. He spends up to 14-hour days wearing them and is often on his feet or walking throughout the day. Even so, each pair probably lasts him 2-3 years. This was the last pair in his size - Zappos, please restock this item in Black 9EE - thanks!

Airline Pilots best choice. My second pair. The first pair lasted 16 years. They are airport screener friendly. After break in and with regular care these boots will be butter soft and fit like a glove... And last more than half a career. If you want to wear Ropers these are the ones to buy. Highest possible recommendation. I wear them with green Superfeet inserts also available on Zappos. Make sure you're a VIP for free two way overnight shipping! Pilots are cheap right? "Work-work-work".... "so do you like stuff?"

I bought these boots looking for something that would be durable, comfortable, acceptable with an airline uniform, and not set off metal detectors, and the boots seem to fulfill all of those requirements. Following advice found online, I ordered the boots in the same size I wear in shoes, but a narrower width, which fit perfectly after a few days of break-in, and they remain comfortable even after 12 hour days, and there's enough cushion in the insoles that long walks on concrete don't end up killing my knees by the end of the day. Although Ariat uses a fairly thick leather for the boots, I've found them to be comfortable in fairly hot temperatures, as well as being reasonably warm in freezing temperatures as well. The soles are made of a material that provides good traction on a fairly treacherous mix of water, de-icing fluid, and slush, and the leather of the uppers usually just needs a quick wipe with a damp rag for cleaning, although occasional applications of polish (every month or so) helps keep the boots looking nice. My only complaint is that the boots are just short enough that they tend to catch on the legs of lighter weight pants (basically anything that isn't jeans) when I sit down and stand up again, so adding an inch or so to the height of the boot shaft would be a welcome addition.

I got these boots for Christmas for my guy. He loves them. He says they are very comfortable. He teaches so he has to stand a lot.

This is my 4th pair of Ariat Heritage Ropers. Great boots. I am an airline pilot, and these boots are great for work. The fact that they are metal detector friendly is a huge plus for me as well. Very comfortable boot. Great value.

Let me start off by saying I have another pair of Ariat Ropers in 11D that I bought last year. I ordered this new pair in 11D and Black (other one is tan.) Like other reviewers have noticed, Ariat clearly did something different with this boot. I too could not even get my foot into the boot! After much struggling I got it on. The size felt okay but I could barely get it off my foot without becoming a contortionist! They obviously use a different pattern for this boot. As usual, Zappos customer service was first rate and I did an exchange for a 12. They fit fine. So unlike most cowboy boots where you order a half size down, with these you have to order a half size up.
