My wife says the base is made out of yoga mat material. I wear my sandals in the water a lot and according to my wife these will absorb water. Also, I felt the toe was not comfortable in the shoe and that there was a lot of material in the front but not enough in the back.

The comfort and style is fine until you get near water. Once wet, the spongy sole begins to create foam. Looks like you just went through a car wash. The front is a bit too flexible as I have rolled down the toe tripping as the toe hung up on something. The spongy sole also makes the ball of my feet feel like it was being pitched or rubbed on long walks. Looks great. Function is not as good as I hoped for the price. I have done better with a pair from Walmart.

No doubt you're buying this shoe for the comfort. But the concerns about getting wet are legit. If you want the Sanuk comfort in a style that's a little more suited for dealing with moisture, try the Digeridude which is actually a nicer looking style and still plenty comfortable.

The style and sizing were great, but ultimately painful. I slipped them on and walked around the house for a few hours and I loved them. At some point, I realized that the left shoe was not as fully on as the right, so I resituated to make it even with the right and that is when the trouble began. It was uncomfortable in the new spot, actually painful in my heel, but being brand new, I just kept wearing them, inside and outside, for a week, waiting for that left shoe to improve, but it did not. I gave them a rest for a few days, hoping they would reform to their original position, but they did not. They were stuck and giving them a week off has not helped. Now they are expensive paperweights. So, for better or for worse, they form to the shape of your foot quickly and they are like that for life, so get them on well!

As advertised, this is a very comfortable & cushy slipper. However, the material on the footbed felt mildly, almost imperceptibly, sticky. But with my OCD, it annoyed me enough to return them. (Perhaps I just have sweaty feet.) The stickiness would likely be mitigated once some dust or dirt accumulates. Weight: With the added cushion comes added weight. Although it is fairly light for its size, it was the heaviest of the bunch (see below). Styling: as you can see in the images, the heel part of the sole is very thick and rises higher than the forefoot. I prefer a thinner sole without a slope. I found the 'Camo' color option very appealing -- more so than the ho-hum black. Comparisons: I also tried the O'Neill Phluff Daddy 2, Reef Slim Smoothy, and Cobian Floater. My favorite (Phluff Daddy) is much lighter and much cheaper than this Sanuk Beer Cozy. You can find my full reviews on their respective pages.

NICE, BUT JUST DON'T GET THEM WET! Well, that sort of takes the whole sandal thing away then doesn't it? I really liked these at first. Even softer than Reefs. I took these on a cruise as my only sandals and was really disappointed on day 2. After getting them wet they started oozing bubbles (like soap) from the sides and between the toes. Really weird... After rinsing and drying them, they were OK until they got wet again. Soapy feet again! They look great, feel great, as long as they are dry. Too bad... Maybe because they're called "Beer Cozy" they are supposed to ooze beer foam? ;-)

Great sandal, but didn't hold up to wear like other Sanuk's I've had. Foot bed fell apart under the ball of my feet on both shoes and wore it down to rubber on the bottom. Only had the shoe 6 months. Very comfortable, just not durable.

I ordered two pairs of sandals for my son he measures right at a 11 in boys . I ordered an 11/12 and they were way to small his feet hung over the back . These definitely run small definitely disappointed they didn't work because now I have to pay for shipping to return because they weren't full price . Other than the sizing they seem to well made and the sole is super soft and would have been comfortable for my four year old son .

They feel to rigid my son tried them on super excited but took them off in a second (and he wears flip flops all day everyday)

We are huge fans of Sanuk. My husband, older 2 sons & I own a few pairs each and only have the best to say but we bought a pair for my 2 year old son and he cannot get his feet to slide all the way up and they don't fit at all like the other pairs I have purchased.

I guess beer cozy material is best kept for keeping drinks cool...it seemed to lose its squishiness over a couple of months. I ended up just trying to wrap my flip flops around my beverages but that was just awkward.

These broke a couple of weeks after I gave them to my husband for Father's Day. I have never had a problem with other Sanuks we have purchased. Zappos immediately sent me another pair so we shall see. That aside, my husband really likes these flip flops. They fit well and are comfortable.

the decorative bead on foot strap overlaps to the inside of the sandal and caused a blister on first day I wore them. Not good. I would not recommend this style.

Here's what happens with these over 1 1/2 summers. First, they're awesome. Then try get slimey when wet and squish a bubbly froth with each step. Then the cozy footbed collapses. Call it conforming if you like. Then the sole wears thin - really thin. Like step on a rock ouch thin. There's a frequently confused line between something we don't like vs something that is truly bad. I truly don't like these sandals at all. Are they flat-out bad? Let's say they fell well short of expectations based on reviews and my past history with lots and lots of sandals. Now that the straps are cracking and the footbed surface is flaking away (again, 1.5 short Ohio summers) I'm pretty confident this is simply a fair to poor product.

Beware these flip-flops are all fine and good when they are dry. They are very comfortable. But once they get wet, they are worthless. I wore mine to the pool and when they got wet they started producing soapy foam. And I mean a lot of soapy foam. It was dish washing liquid commercial amounts of foam. They were then super slippery and I found myself walking around barefoot and swinging the flip-flops in my hands to shake off all the foam and hopefully dry them off. A day or so later when they were dry they were basically back to normal. I watered plants in my yard the other day, and low and behold the foam is back. I even called Sanuk customer service and was told that these are "not designed to be water-proof." These are flip-flops we are talking about! How lame. They get two stars instead of one because they are pretty comfortable when dry. Zero stars when they are wet.

These sandals fit really well (i have a wide foot). My issue is that if you get them wet, they are so soft and squishy (like a yoga mat) that the water absorbes like a sponge and they take forever to dry. When you walk, soapy foam ooze out of the sides of these flip flops. It is becoming sort of annoying.

the beer cozy flip flop is not as nice as i hoped it would be , i have found that in the sun they get very very hot , and they are very slippery when they get wet , i purchased these hoping they would be good to wear while im boating . but i think they are a better casual flip flop away from sun and water .

Pretty comfy, besides the straps, which get annoying. Kind of heavy too and they are loud (the snapping noise when you walk). Don't go near the water! They foam up which is apparently due to the open cell foam. Each time you step you can see soap suds surround your feet and leaving a trail behind you. Of course the salesman didnt mention this.

I owned these for about 2 weeks and the sole was worn out at the ball and the heel of my foot. Granted I am extremely hard on shoes, in the two weeks they were used to while I rode my bike, worked in the yard, repeatedly submerged during fishing trips, and while bushwacking some nasty jungle. Long story short, they might be good for just hanging out at the house or the beach, but for outdoors activities look for something more rugged.

Was super excited for my grandson to have these comfy flip flops when he came to visit but the piece between the toes is too wide/thick for such little toes and toddler feet are too chubby to fit in these. Ended up being a waste of $

Bought a pair of these sandals for both of my children they lasted less than a week for one child and two weeks for the other. The thongs ripped off of the sandal with normal wear.

Sent them back. Tried 10’s and 11’s (I’m a 10 1/2) Cushy platform didn’t make up for the top straps cutting into my feet. Have other Sanuk’s but these didn’t work for me.
