I wanted to love these boots--but the calves were snug and the overall look was like a rainboot. I will look for other Frye boots though.

the boot is solid , I couldn't stand them at first as my toes / toe box was jammed, but....but I put a sandwich sized ziplock bag filled 1/4 full, with air let out, put the boots in the freezer, and voila, the toe box stretched, a bit more than I wanted on the left (smaller foot) but good as the boots are pricey, it fully worked...

Campus, in brown was the first model of Frye boots I ever owned. I bought them when I was a teenager, and they lasted 12 years! Comfortable and sturdy from the outset. I now own four more pairs. Three in the Harness 12 variety and one Vera slouch and the more distressed, the better. Love them forever!

I was so excited to open the Zappos box today with my new Frye Campus 14L boots! Unfortunately, I was very disappointed that I wasn't able to slide them over my calf! I got the Saddle Brown in an 8½ and they are gorgeous! I never considered my calfs to be unusually large and never had a problem getting tall boots before until now. I thought about having them stretched because I hate to send them back but I cannot take the chance that it will not work and be stuck with expensive boots that I cannot wear.

Initially I ordered the Campus Stitching Horse. As much as I really loved the fit and look of the boot, I really needed a boot that was more versatile, and not quite so country/western. Besides the colors offered here at the moment were not what I had in mind. Banana is too light and walnut too dark. So I tried these in Saddle. I do love the heel height in these boots. I also love the shaft circumference. I like that they are plain without stitching. They fit nice and close to my calves like the Campus boots did, (my calves measure about 13½") with room to spare for skinny jeans underneath, yet would be still fit closely enough to bare legs for a skirt or dress. My issue with these boots is that me heels slipped quite a bit in the 7½ size (which is my size) as well as my feet in general felt like they were flopping inside the boot. Where as the shaft fit perfect, except for the ankle area, where it seemed as though it was too roomy, and bent/collapsed with each step unattractively. I ended up choosing the Phillip Harness Tall boot in the 7½ size. Now that boot fit beautifully and very comfortably! I can now say I have a pair of Fryes, even though it took me several pairs to figure out which was going to work best for me. Thank you, Zappos! Your shipping and return policy, is great. Otherwise just guessing would not work, as all boots, styles, fit differently.

Wow these are made from gorgeous leather. I wanted to like the boots so badly but they were very wide on my narrow feet and there was tons of movement at the heels when I walked, so much that thicker socks would not even help.

Although these boots are as pretty as can be they gurt! True to size but out of the box very uncomfortable and have worn them several times and still hurt after just a bit or wear time. Very stylish and sharp looking but for comfort...well not so good.

So far I have only been wearing them around my house because I am still not sure if they will work. Most reviews said they felt too large but for me they are tight across the top of my foot and a little difficult to get on. I think they may just need breaking in but I am not sure if they will stretch out at all. But otherwise, I bought the banana color and it is awesome and unique, the boots looks good on and go with pants, skirts and dresses - the style is great, I am only a little unsure regarding comfort. From what I have read they are fabulous according to most people who own these boots, so I will probably keep wearing them around and see if they loosen up a bit.

These shoes are fantastic! I love the style, and they go with everything. I would consider my calves pretty average sized and there is plenty of extra room. I have a pretty wide foot and normally have to go up to a 10 (I'm usually a 9 to 9 1/2) to fit my width, but the 9's are fine. One of my feet is wider than other, so I just used the end of a broom handle to work the inside of the shoe where it was tight, and it worked perfectly without any damage to the shoe. They are definitely stiff at first, and aren't the most comfortable for a while, but I have a feeling they will get better. I've been wearing mine for about a month and they're still pretty stiff. I would recommend finding a soft cushiony insole to add for comfort. All in all, these shoes are great. They're a little expensive, but if you get a pair in a classic color you'll be able to wear them for years to come.

I thought about this boot for a while. I researched on other sites and read all the reviews. I bought the 7.5 my normal size and it fits fine. It feels like I could go down a size but then I think it would be too snug. There is room for a sock, thick or thin, and if my feet swell. The boot shaft is very narrow. I also don't have "fat" calves and I freaked out a bit when they arrived and were very tight. But after wearing them a few hours they started to loosen up and I'm sure they will continue to loosen as all leather does with wear. Aside from the boot shaft issues my only other Con is that I wish the color was a bit darker. Not as dark as the other darker color option but a bit in between.

I really wanted to keep these boots, but I can't. I'm normally a 7, but I ordered the 6.5 and the 7 based on the other reviews. Both slid off my heel more than would have been comfortable. I wasn't willing to risk a poor fit for boots at this price. They're beautiful, though!

Beautiful well-crafted boot. Good for a wider foot and a narrow calf. My calves are muscular (but not wide) and the inner pull tab at the top rubbed uncomfortably. If not for the pull-tab, all would have been well. Had to return them.

I have coveted these boots for over a year and, I can't believe I'm saying this but, I don't love them. Something about the straight line from cuff to ankle just doesn't seem flattering. Leather is gorgeous but they're not for me.

My sister bought these boots last year and I loved them so I finally saved enough to get them, too! At first I thought I might need to reorder a half size bigger than I even wear (size 8 1/2, although I only wear size 8), but ended up keeping the size 8 and they've been perfect. I wear them with thin socks; otherwise I would have needed a half size bigger. The color of these boots is great and I get tons of compliments every time I wear them with my dark skinny jeans. They can go both semi-dressy and casual but if you're looking for sleek these aren't the ones for you because the toe box and heel are a bit too clunk for sleek. I love them for my style!

These are great boots! Classic and look great with everything. My only complaint is that it took forever to break them in. Lots of blisters but now they are fine and I can walk for miles in them.

Heavy Duty Boot! I debated returning this boot only because it is hefty! It looks like a work boot and I felt like I needed to order a pair of Carharts to wear them with. That being said- I think there is something sexy about wearing this flavor of boot around and have received lots of compliments. They run a little large. I am a size 11 but was worried a 10 would be too small. If you can- order a size down.

Nice, but the size is tricky... Very nice boot. I love the way it looks. It is fun to pair it with a skirt and black tights, or over some skinny jeans. Watch out for the bottom of the boots though- it is painted black on the sole and it has a tendency to chip. Wore them out in the rain, returned home, and I could see the brown showing because the black chipped off. I ordered a half size smaller than what I would have, because of what people were saying. I now wish that I would have just kept it true to size. My right foot is a little larger than my left... so if you have that same problem, then order your true size. Very happy with Zappos though. I moved out of state for my job, but my bank is in another. So they were shipping the boots across state borders. They called to make sure that I had placed the order. Really cool of them.
