Makes a wooshing noise every time I take a step. Other than that great shoes.

The tan of these boat shoes is an orangish tan; not my preference. I also thought I was purchasing Top Siders that don't have to be tied. I was looking for ones with a criss-cross of laces on the top of the shoe with no hanging laces to tie (illusion laces) but these you have to tie the leather in a bow on top (or a knot, whatever). I've had them before and they're awesome. I've returned these and will keep looking for the slip-on ones that don't actually tie. Also these run small and can slip on more easily if bought a bit larger.

I knew to order a a size and half down from what my son wears based on his other Sperrys. However, plan on exchanging them. The white sole looks cheap.

This is the second quality control issue I've experienced with my past two purchases of Sperry Authentic Original boat shoes. The issue with the first pair concerned the side grommets coming loose and sliding on the side laces. These shoes were manufactured in Indonesia.
The issue with the second pair was that the sole was off white and was difficult to gain traction on any surface. The reason I've purchase these shoes throughout my lifetime is because they have excellent traction. However, I found myself having safety concerns while wearing these shoes on any surface due to the slippery sole. This pair was manufactured in China.

I have used Sperry Topsider shoes for several years now on an everyday basis. The styling is perfect for my causal everyday needs. The ties usually secure well and stay secured. The colors match well with my khaki pants, or black pants. I have been purchasing through a shop in the mall, but since I know my size exactly, I have recently started ordering online and saving the time and hassle. I think for the asking price, the shoes are a reasonable value. They won't last forever, but they will last long enough to justify the price. Recommended.

My husband picked these out online and when they came in, he didn't care for them. The shoes had gold on them and he thought they looked too old for him. We are returning for a different color and style.

I have had many pairs of the classic brown a/o boat shoe over the past 30 years; all have been great. But, the leather on my most recent pair is simply not the original leather.

Great shoe, lightweight, soft, looks good and all around comfortable EXCEPT for this ridge in at the front of the heel that feels like you are stepping on a rock or something all of the time. It is so odd. I am so down with no arch support since I have flat feet but that ridge is really uncomfortable on the bottom of my foot.

I have been purchasing the same pair of Sperry top siders since 2003.
Something has changed in the construction. The fit is not quite right in the toe box. Another reviewer noticed the new uppers in the darker color are being manufactured in Indonesia - Well I ordered the Sahara color and these were made in Indonesia.
Ill be returning them - its sad.
I'd also recommend:

I ordered a size 10 1/2 M and a 10 W both were #0195115 on their individual boxes
The 10 1/5 M arrived in the box design that is used today.
As you will see in this return the 10W arrived in an old style box. The glue holding the ends of the box together had dried out. The soles of these shoes had also aged from the expected white to an orange tone.
Even if they had fit perfectly I would be returning them.

Shoes fit and look great but one problem-the lace snapped in half right in my hands when I tied them for the first time. Zappos customer service was extremely gracious and helpful with the issue, but I would be wary buying Sperrys with this style of laces.

I love everything Sperry except for the pig lining. I could no longer adore and don Sperry because of the made. For personal reasons.
But whomever could live with pig lining, then I will vouch for Sperry.

I introduced the brand to my boyfriend because they are not heard of in his home country. I was really excited to give him a pair and have always heard good things about the shoes.
Sadly, after only a season of wearing them they have fallen apart. The sole is no longer fully attached and the inside is falling apart also. He loves the fit and comfort of the shoe and only wears boatshoes but for the price we have had better luck with others. Only due to the fact they hold up better and are still intact after years of wear.
I would consider purchasing in the future if the quality improved and I knew the shoe would hold up better but unfortunately with no gaurantee we wont be purchasing again.

I've bought many pairs of this classic American-style shoe. All were comfortable and rugged. Except for the last pair. The padded sole inside the shoe had an annoying squeak that just won't stop. Air in the foam-like sole padding escapes which each step producing a loud and irritating squeak.

I overall think this shoe is great but the laces untie, and they broke. I was very disappointed and I cannot find the color of the laces. I would like to purchase them but still cannot find it on the website. They always become undone. Other than that the shoe is very comfortable and is very nice to wear.

I have been buying the classic Sahara leather, and buck brown shoes twice a year, for the past 2 years. This time, I ordered 2 new pairs of the original boat shoe in olive green, and blue and saw the lace style has changed. I wanted to know if I could find the original laces now, or have they just been discontinued, and whether sperry have come up with slip ons instead. I am disappointed, with the new cross laces.

This is my fifth pair of Sperry's Authentic Original boat shoes. I like the comfortable fit as well as the classic style. I wore the past four pairs until they wore out, and I have no complaints. That's why I keep buying the same style shoe.
This pair of Sperrys has a problem. They squeak. It seems to be air escaping from an opening in the stitching in the right shoe. It is quite loud, and it is very annoying. It sounds like the squealing noise made when the opening of an air-filled balloon is pinched, and the air is allowed to exit very slowly. I continued to wear the shoes in hopes that the squeak would disappear. It hasn't. In fact, the left shoe developed a squeak too.
This pair of shoes is likely too worn to allow a return, and I've had them for over a year. Is there any hope I can swap-out this pair of squeaky shoes?

The shoe is not the same as it used to be. I am not sure if it is a change in manufacturing or materials but one thing is for sure that the quality of this shoe it not what it used to be. The insole if poorly glued to the bottom of the shoe. Everytime that I walk I can feel a pop in both shoes from a space that is created between the insoles and the base of the shoe. The insole was not even fully glued on when I took the shoes out of the box. It was peeling away on its sides. I. hav never had a single problem with my other pair of 2-eye boat shoes. I like sperry and the quality of prodicts that they produce but they have definitley dropped the ball on this one. I just hope they can return to the original quality in the future. I will surely buy a pair then but for now these will be returned.
