I purchased these shoes in late May 2010. I did not wear them until mid 2011. The left sole began delaminating from the shoe after four months of wear. I continued to use them and attempted to glue the sole back with Shoe Goop. That did not work. I finally gave up and sent an email asking if the poor quality stitching problem had been resolved since I would like to buy another pair. I have owned at least 15 pairs since 1975 and all of them have failed after four years of extremely hard wear and never once has the sole come apart. The leather usually cracks after repeated wet and dry cycles over many years. I requested compensation from Sperry and them shipped back to them for evaluation.

Made in China! This shoe is much lighter in color than the image depicts. It is also not as shiny as the picture. It is very comfortable and requires no breaking in. It has no arch support. It is like standing on the floor. I would have given them more stars, but they are made in China. I did not know that until I had already worn them and was unable to return them.

My husband has wide feet but usually will fit in a general wide shoe (E). These shoes are so narrow that the extra wide was still way too snug.

They look very good when you first get them but after a couple weeks of wearing they fall apart fast and the sole stitching starts to come undone. They look cool and are really comfortable but they just don't last as long as they should for this price.

These shoes look even better than I expected but every time I take a step it makes an annoying squeaking sound.

I play sports and wear white socks a lot. These shoes turned my white socks brown and I only wore them for 1 day at work and I work inside.

I purchased pair of Top Siders (the Authentic Original model) to replace a worn pair. I ordered the same size and the same model I had worn for years. Unfortunately, the new pair were too small despite ordering the same size shoe. And somewhat more distressing (considering I can just order the next larger size) was that the "build quality" was not equal to the 5 year older shoe. Progress? I think not.

Just a warning regarding the "oatmeal" shoes. On the first pair I received in size 10.5, the sole on the left shoe was noticeably harder and slicker than the right sole...and within a week the left sole started to show cracks, although you could not see them unless the sole was flexed. I returned these shoes and got a new pair within 2 days. Great service! However, I've noticed the same problem with the sole of the left shoe on the new pair. The left sole has not cracked yet, but I'm sure that it will. I believe that Sperry has a defective batch of left shoes in the color "oatmeal". Buyer beware.

Not sure what's been going on with Sperry lately. Have been wearing these since I started wearing shoes, but my last two pairs have been made with a lesser quality leather and the soles have separated from the shoe. Afraid they shifted to a new manufacturer since their recent spike in popularity. Need a new pair and am considering Timberland. They're losing a life-long customer.

Disappointed! After reading customer reviews I ordered pair of these shoes in half size smaller, so that I could wear 'em without socks. Shoe quality is not so good, insoles made of cheap leather and they smell awful! There is no arch support, if you walk with 'em for half hour your feet hurt, not mentioning that the stitches in the back of the shoes scratch your ankles if you want to wear them without socks. When I put the white socks on after an hour on my feet with these shoes they became brown! So unless you want to wear them with black socks and you don't walk or stand as much as I do they are OK.

We love sperrys! The soles of these ripped very easily only after a few wears. Made us so sad.

My husband wore these shoes 3 times. The 3rd time, the right shoe started falling apart. We've never had this issue with Sperry's before so not sure what happened here.

I've gone through a few pairs of these over the last 20 something years, always loved them. This last pair the quality was anything but good. Overall they feel cheap and like many other reviews here they broke in the same spot, where the sole attaches to the toe. I was going to buy a replacement pair figuring it was just a one off thing, but after seeing enough recent reviews I decided it'd be smarter to find a different brand.

Unfortunately, the sole cracked where it is stitched to the upper. Have been wearing these for decades and they have been reliable up until now.. Very light use when this happened as I have several pairs.

The new cross lace design is a step backward. I really do not like these topsiders. If you do not add the old lace-up versions back into your lineup, I'm afraid I am going to have to find a different shoe than the one I have been purchasing for the last about 30-something years.

soles falling apart after a few weeks. I've purchased many pairs of Sperry shoes over the years for myself and my kids- and never had a shoes start coming apart at the sole, not even after years of wear

I wore these shoes as a kid as part of my school uniform. I put them through all the trials you can imagine a kid would. Saw them on someone the other day and thought, let's give those a try again. Really liked them at firstthe look was as I remember, after a day or two they were comfortable. I was looking forward to the leather getting a little more worn in of a look, but about 3-weeks into owning them, the sole on both shoes tore away from itself at the toe. First one, then the next day the other, and I wasn't dragging the front of the shoe. Really disappointed. I want these to work out. I'm just wondering if the rubber they are using now is total garbage, or were these just a lemon?

Nice color, good fit, but unfortunately fell apart after first use. Have not had a chance to speak with customer service because it happened on the first day of a two week vacation. My shoes were fine, so I am hoping it's a one off.

Ironic that I was contacted today for this review. They fit perfectly. I applied a leather crme to help soften them up and wore them in the house a few times so that I wouldn't get blisters. I've worn them outside maybe three or four times. I just noticed that the front part of the sole on one shoe has separated from the shoe. It looks like the sole split thru where it is stitched. How can I return these defective shoes?

The last pair of Sperry boat shoes I had lasted forever - these lasted for a month. The soles cracked and separated; not sure if it's a supply chain/sourcing issue, but very disappointed. 0/10 would not recommend.
