Probably the best fitting shoe I've owned. I've got relatively flat feet with narrow ankles. Most shoes fit too loosely around my heel and ankle. These are like a glove, nice and snug but not cramped anywhere. Also like the quick lace system, which I originally assumed I'd not care for. Haven't had long enough to say how they hold up over time, but initial impression is they are well made.

These continue to be my "go-to" hiking/walking shoes. The narrower last is perfect for my low volume foot. They fit snugly without having to really cinch down on the laces, so they're super comfortable. They are a bit warm, but I'm willing to put up with that for the great support.

Shoe fits true to size. They are very comfortable and the quick lace is a nice addition.

These are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. I don't have much to add to the other reviews except for this: I've worn both these and the GTX version of the same. If you don't need the GoreTex, go without. These shoes are lighter and a bit less clunky, and they breathe better. I'll definitely get these again.

Great all around running, walking and hiking shoe. Salomon is now my go to for athletic shoes.

Love these shoes! This is my fourth pair of Salomon GTX. I'm a US Marine that runs 3 days a week and after 20+ years I've found the perfect all around running shoe. Road or trail.

This is a great all around shoe for anything. It is the perfect marriage between a hiking boot and a running shoe. They are sturdy and offer the protection of a traditional hiking boot, but you also feel light and fast in them and are well suited to trail or road running. The quick lace system locks your foot in comfortably without having to over tighten avoiding that feeling of constriction that is common in many shoes on the market that I have worn. They also look terrific and will be ready for any adventure you can throw at them right out of the box.

Great support and stability for trail running. I sprained my ankle pretty bad late last year and wanted a trail running shoe with more stability and the XA Pro 3D thus far has met my expectations. My foot feels more protected in this shoe more so than others, the only slight thing to note is that they do feel a bit heavier than other Salomon shoes. My custom orthotics fit in them and I like the pull tab at the back. The cross lace at the front seems to lock your foot in even better. These are definitely ones to try if you are looking for more stability on technical trails.

I ordered two pairs of the Salomon XA Pro. My son and grandson are hiking the John Muir Trial in June and they wanted a pair of good hiking shoes to break-in before leaving. They arrived a week ago from Zappos. My son who is a big Salomon wearer loved them. I ordered one half size larger after reading reviews and they fit him perfectly. He questioned the comfort level. A day after wearing said "they are GREAT, PERFECT". After wearing for a week said they really don't need to be broken-in. Loved the breathable mess, great soles, and the non-slip tongue,most important the comfort. For my grandson, I sent back the regular and ordered the wide. Wide was very comfortable and that is all he would say. He kept them but he just turned 13!

Per other reviews I ordered a half size larger. Even with the larger size, my husband said they were snug in the toe box. He said the support was excellent and they were stable, just too snug. We went with the waterproof version of this shoe, which he said had a different fit and felt better.

I've owned these before and decided to go back again. In my experience I wear either a 10 1/2 regular or sometimes a 10 wide. In these shoes, I had to go to a 10 1/2 wide. Once I got the right size, I love them. I find the quick tie system easy to use, it never comes loose like shoelaces can, and it holds up for the life of the shoe.

This is my 2nd pair of XA Pro 3Ds. This is the best hiking shoe I have ever opwned. The large toe area accomodates my knobby and slightly wide toes and front foot area. Alittel toe pressure here and there out of the box, but I've put 20 miles on them and they are ready to go. My previous pair had about 500 miles on them and the heel support was giving way. Probably would last longer for a lighter person. I'm 230 and carry a 30 to 45 pound pack.

Outstanding durability! Perfect for running. I bought these as I tend to be a heel-striker/supinator. This is my 2nd pair and I will keep buying them.

I wear a medium width but sometimes shoes of this size are small in the toe box. This is not the case with these XA Pros. Plenty of room without wallowing the rest of my foot. Love the cobalt-green color combination but it may not be the choice for the less adventurous.

Great toe protection. Toe cap is one solid price so it won't peel back. Very hardy shoe which I intend on using mostly for hiking and mountain biking. My 3rd pair of Salomons. They wear great and last.

I have been wearing a pair of these shoes for 15 years now. I replace them yearly, and have never had a shoe that performs better or more consistently than the XA Pro. It's a great cross trainer and trail runner, fantastic support and incredible comfort. I am on my feet 14-16 hours a day, and these are a big reason why I am able to do that. I have worn them in 18 countries and every geographic region, from desert to jungle and they handle everything I can throw at them.

Very good looking shoe and comfortable as well. It's considerably narrower compared to my Keens even when you get the normal or regular width. Based on experience, it feels better if you wear a thinner than normal sock. Only concern are the laces, hope it holds up and not break.

I have been an adventure athlete for as long as I recall. I have also had a pair of Salomon XA Pro trail runners on my feet for as long as I recall. They last forever! They fit perfect! The quick lace works and is tough! I have a had a bunch of these through the years. I keep a pair for a few years then I replace with new ones. I then use the old ones to work in my yard.

Great shoe, definitely runs narrow, I wear a standard size width in every shoe I've ever worn before these. Wide fits great, good arch support.
