I've always liked Converse, but found them narrow and uncomfortable. After seeing some Purcell's in photos and around town, and reading that they offer more support than Chuck Taylors, I decided to give them a shot.
I'm so glad I did! They have a true fit, have much better support, a removable insole, and a padding tongue. Overall they seem to drip of quality in comparison to Taylors.
I also have to recommend mocc socks to achieve the right look.

I love these. They are much more comfortable than regular Converse. I get tons of compliments on them all the time. They go with everything. I even wear them with dress pants sometimes for a laid-back office (J.Crew) look. The insert is very cushiony and supportive. Overall, a very good quality shoe. I even bought a pair for my 9-year old daughter and they withstand the wear and tear of the playground. I wanted her to have a support shoe but still have classic style. I would still order a half-size smaller than you would normally wear. They are narrow but long.

A comfortable canvas sneaker that can be worn without socks. The lining around the ankle makes all the difference.
No problems. Love them. I own four pair.

Durable and good looking Converse but just a word of caution they run 1/2 small in womens. I usually wear a 9 womens in all my Chuck Taylors and I had to return these and order a 9 1/2. These shoes are very comfortable. Even more comfortable than my Chuck Taylors! I just hope they last longer.

Love 'em!!! Was concerned that they would be too narrow and wouldn't provide much arch support, but I was dead wrong. More stylish and comfortable than Chuck's...

I have been wearing Jack Purcells for 50 years. I love the look and comfort of this shoe. It has the best protected toe of any shoe I've worn. They have now added an insertable arch support which greatly improves the comfort, but in my opinion, it could use a little more support. I have also noticed the rubber is softer now and not quite as thick and heavy as it used to be. The eyelets and strings are built to last and the tongue greatly improved. If you like classic well fitting shoes for casual wear, this is an excellent shoe. I now use Asics for tennis and Purcells for most other needs. I receive many positive comments from others about this shoe. I also bought this same shoe in black leather and they are wonderful. I plan to order this same shoe in white leather also. Zappos is the best place to buy this shoe. I would have also ordered a pair in yellow canvas, but the tongue in the picture did not look finished. I will call Zappos and check this out. This company will exceed your expectations.

Comparable to "Chucks", but feels sturdier. More like old Keds. Reminds me to smile!

I love the style -- virtually unchanged since I first wore them in the sixties. They seem to have just a little more padding in the sole and tongue than I had remembered, which helps with the comfort factor. Virtually no arch support, however. I'm eager for them to lose their whiteness, but can't quite get myself to run around in the dirt and grass to properly break them in!

Since we have not seen these shoes since 1970's, my husband saw them and had to have a pair! He says that they are just as comfortable as they were back then! He loves them!

I had an old pair from about 10 to 15 years ago that I loved to death! Finally decided to replace. These are definitely updated a lot of cushioning for a converse (the tongue and the sole feel wonderful!) They seem more narrow (how they look, not feel) than my old pair. Although that could be due to the age of the other pair. But a wonderful shoe. I'm so glad I bought them!

These are the best shoes I've ever had. I have several pairs and they all fit exactly the same. Very comfortable even for twelve hour days on your feet. Nicer than All Stars.

Love this shoe. Way more comfortable than your standard Converse Chuck Taylor. Great style. I sometimes even wear these with a casual dress and leggings for a funkier look. I highly recommend them. I typically wear a size 8 in all my other shoes and the size 8 in these were no different. Love them!

I wore these shoes all the way through middle school and I loved them. Now I'm a college student and needed a nice, simple, clean pair of tennis shoes to wear on the weekends so I figured, why not my Jack Purcells? The quality has definitely improved over the years; the soles are very cushion. I ordered a Woman's 8 and they are a bit snug, but since they're canvas they'll stretch a little. Overall, great purchase!

These are the perfect white sneakers. Sporty, but not sloppy. True to size and comfortable.I'm a true size 7 (woman's) and that's what I got. Good with jeans or shorts. Haven't had them for a long time, so not sure how they will handle dirt, but I think they are easily washable.

These shoes came up in conversation last February. My friend and I each had them when we were kids, 30+ years ago. I checked Zappos and there they were! I bought us each a pair and some toddler sized ones for her little girl. Back then we called them bumpers because of the toe. They seem even better now. A really nice feel to the sole. Also the (blue) sole is shaped like a boat shoe so they don't slip on wet floors. They are a little bit narrow for me but otherwise they are my favorite shoes. I like them better than ordinary All Stars or Chuck Taylors. And very much more than tired running shoes like I often wear.

Have been coveting these sneaks since I lost a pair over 10 years ago. The classics are pretty hard to find but, of course, Zappos had them. Waiting for a sale on these is futile, so I bit the bullet and ordered a pair. It was about 9:30PM when I placed my order and the shows were on my front porch before 10AM the next day though I had picked the regular free shipping, not overnight. I can't even wrap my head around that, it was so unexpectedly fast. When I put the shoes on, however, they were too big, and I called customer service about making an exchange. The agent told me she'd ship a new pair out, that I should return mine within 2 weeks and that from now on I was going to be upgraded to receive expedited shipping on all my orders at no charge. And, once again, the shoes arrived within 24 hours. I don't know how Zappos does this. Hopefully, we will not find out that they are a horrible corporation some day, killing baby pandas and decimating the rain forest, because I love them. I love these shoes, too. They are flatter than the modern shoes we wear today, but they have a good insole so they are not as flat as Converse All-Stars. They are a classic; what can I say? They're perfect. I wear them generally with no socks. My left foot is about a size 7.5 and my right is about an 8, and I got the 7.5, (men's 6), and that worked perfectly. Thanks, Zappos!

I bought these shoes because they're a bit more on the grownup side than Chucks, plus I'm not hip enough to wear those anyway. I had never owned canvas Converse shoes before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, turns out they are very comfortable for a shoe that doesn't have a ton of arch support. Nice padded sole, but not overly so. They look great in the summertime with khakis or shorts, too. They run slightly large (less than a half size, if that's possible), but they give you room for socks, which I prefer. You should probably Scotchgard them to waterproof and protect from stains. Mine already have some mud spots on them. Anyway, a solid recommendation from me. These are good shoes for the money. Classic.

I ordered them as a gift for my wife. I'm a loyal customer of Zappos and when my wife couldn't find them at any local stores, I went to Zappos! I knew I wouldn't have any problems getting exactly what I wanted with excellent service, as always.

The perfect Tybee Island retro tennis, beach, and boat shoe without being the overly popular Chuck Taylors and more importantly without little horses on them.

Shoe is awesome for kick arounds. Not the best as far as support. Runs a bit on the big side and the shoe strings are extra long, I have to double knot. But overall I love them, cute with boyfriend jeans rolled up.

Fun shoe. It's very comfortable even without an arch (which I prefer). Looks great with skinny jeans and shorts. Great to walk in. Pretty narrow looking. It doesn't feel narrow. I am wearing this shoe much more than I thought I would. I keep grabbing the Jack Purcells instead of the Pumas I just bought.
