They are exactly what you expect. Cool looking, not terribly comfortable for standing around in, but fine for when you don’t have to be on your feet all day.

The lining of the upper and of the removable insole has a synthetic feel, though it may indeed be cotton. Either way, my feet stay dry when I wear these shoes without socks, and it would seem Converse has designed the shoes with that wearing preference in mind. The shoes are very well made and superior materials are used. Just check out the quality of the laces. The navy Purcells look good, but white ones would have looked more streamlined. I just didn’t want to have to deal with a white pair showing dirt. Then again, I am so pleased with the pair I have that I may order a white pair for limited wear in fair weather.

I have come to the conclusion that Converse of any shape and size are not suitable for tall people. I'm over 6 ft and this is the second pair of Converse I have tried. Both pairs have been very uncomfortable.

I will like these once they break in, but they\'re quite stiff out of the box! I think they are slightly bigger than my All-Stars of the same size.

A nice change from the All Stars everyone is wearing, and more comfortable, too. No arch support to speak of, but the insole is very bouncy. Got the white ones and will probably get a darker colored pair in the fall.

I normally wear a man's size 4 Chuck Taylor and although the size chart on Zappos has the Jack Purcells at a half size larger, I found them a lintel on the tight side. I would recommend ordering a whole size larger they you would commonly wear in a Chucks. That said, I was amazed at how quickly Zappos shipped my order with free shipping no less. I've shopped at Zappos before and I could say their customer service and shipping methods have only improved.

Great shoes, fit true to size and go well with shorts and jeans\/khakis alike. I think they\'re a little more sophisticated than the Chucks so if you want something comfortable to wear to a polo match or something I would recommend. Soles are pretty soft which can be weird at first.

These shoes run smaller than your ordinary Chucks. I wear a 9 in the Converse All-Stars and needed to up to a 10 for the Jack Purcells. Real comfy, though. Like Chucks but with a slightly padded tongue and a bit more cushion under the sole.

I love the looks, but smaller and less comfortable than other Converse I have. Very bright white.

Jack Purcell\'s are a classic. I\'ve worn them for years, and they are just as great as ever. I get a new white pair every spring because I have this thing about them looking fresh. My only issue with them is that on the last pair I purchased, the white on the rubber part around the edge of the shoe seemed to kind of chip off like paint, leaving them raggedy looking. I just got another pair and will see if that happens again. I\'d hate to think that they are not as good as they used to be.

Bought these a half size smaller than my typical shoe size, and while they were fine with regard to length but were just not quite wide enough for me so I ended up returning them. I really liked the style, however. I should say that Zappos has an incredibly easy return process. Also, I ordered a new pair of shoes from the site at about 10:00pm last night and was upgraded to overnight shipping. I checked UPS tracking and the shoes are scheduled to be delivered today. Much kudos to Zappos for an insane shipping turnaround. Assuming they always have the shoes I'm looking for, I'll be a Zappos customer for life.

I really like this shoe. It is cute with skinny jeans. They are also more comfortable than Chuck Taylors, with a little bit more support.

My new sneakers are great. I wear a 9, but the 8.5 fit perfectly with a lightweight “Ped” sock. Which was what I had in mind. Yes, I can see a bit of breaking in, but that’s to be expected from almost any shoe. And, no, they’re not the same quality as fondly remembered, but what is these days? One major negative: the shoelaces are HORRIBLE. Nylon with metal points that clack around when you walk. I’ll be replacing with cotton shoelaces asap. Overnight delivery. Zappos rocks as usual. Thanks.

I've been a customer of Zappos.com for quite a while already. The service has always been excellent and the products are always in excellent quality! My recent purchase -- Jack Purcell is a good shoe. Appearance wise, it's really my type. However; it's not a comfortable shoe for great distance walking (based on my experience). But of course, people have different preferences.

I bought the shoes to wear casually for the weekends and after work. So far they are holding up well and after being stretched fit much better. They do seem to run a little narrow.

I've been wanting to get myself a pair of Jack Purcells for as long as I can remember! I was so geeked when they arrived. My boyfriend thinks they're cute, too. I love that my shoes are smiling at everyone :) The only problem I have with them is that they don't offer this shoe in a wide width. My pudgy little feet make this shoe uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time since they rub on my pinky toes. I hadn't thought about them running large, but I have to buy a size larger than normal in many shoes just to get a decent width. As others have said, they do have a 'bit' more padding than your average chuck taylor... but there's still not much. If you love the chucks, though, you'll definitely like these! I bought the navy and think they go great with just about anything. It's all about character, and the Jack Purcell has plenty of that!

awesome shoes, very comfy. laces are a little long and mine (size 13) tend to drag on the ground no matter how i tie/lace them. I don't want to double knot but oh well. white keeps pretty clean (other than laces) but requires a quick scrub every now and them.

I was hesitant about ordering these online because I find it hard to get a good fit with converse. I need arch support and I have somewhat wide feet. However, I am really glad I took the chance. Will I tour Disney in these? No. Will I wear them the rest of the winter? Yes. I love them. They are more comfortable than traditional converse (width is still the same though). I also got compliments on them.

There is something graphic and fun about the Jack Purcell sneaker, with its little smiley face on the toe. \r\n\r\nIt\'s a little more comfortable than your regular old Converse low top, too. Great alternative if you\'re a devotee of Chuck Taylors, as I have been for many eons.\r\n\r\nI felt that the sizing on these shoes was pretty accurate, compared to the Chucks, which seem to run large.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received these and tried them on. They are so cushy! Definitely a different feel from classic Converse and I would say an improvement. The only thing I wish these shoes had was a little more embellishment. They don't have the classic black line along the bottom or the contrast stitching. They are still cute, but I think the lack of detail makes them look a little more generic. There isn't any real visible detail to identify them as Converse so they could be any old brand. Nonetheless, I still will be wearing them quite often and I'm sure my nice, comfy feet will thank me!

I got these in a size 10 to replace a size 9.5 pair of Chuck Taylors. I definitely got the right size - the Purcell's in 10 are almost exactly the same size as Chucks in 9.5. So, if anyone is replacing a pair of Chucks with these, try a half size up. They are far more comfortable than Chucks, and don't seem to have any break-in period. They seem better made and more substantial than Chucks as well. Unfortunately, they are kind of ugly-looking from certain angles. Chucks are just a cleaner, more streamlined, more classic style. But I just can't put my feet through that kind of abuse anymore, so Purcell's are the way to go.

Seemed Comfy at First - Really cute sneaker. Looks great with skirts, shorts, jeans, and capris. Would be perfect for walking around town if they didn't give me terrible blisters. The first day I wore them I got huge blisters on my heels and my pinky toes felt really smushed and sore. 2nd wear I tried w/ socks and didn't get blisters but heel and toes still rubbed. Maybe they need more break in time in the toes, but I'm afraid heel blisters are inevitable because of the way the shoe rubs as I walk.

Classic with very clean fashion looks-cheaper than J Crew. I love these shoes. I bought in all white and it’s a great look even with a navy summer suit with white cotton tee for ladies...kind of classic Katharine Hepburn look. I usually wear a size 8, if you want to wear bare feet you might want to order a half size smaller, I thought it is little too wide without socks.

Cute but not nearly as comfy as they should be - I had to take the insole out and replace it with another one because they weren't as comfy as I wanted. They don't feel like a sneaker but more like a cute shoe you want to wear even though they feel a little off.

Old Time Jacks - I had Jacks all throughout my teenage years and lived in them. I was so grateful to find them and receive them so quickly and affordably. I ordered a half size larger than normal because I need a wide shoe and the Jacks are available only in regular width. They look and fit fine, but are a little tight across the instep.
