Tretorn's review - The boots look and feel great! The rainy is fixing to start here in Iraq and I can't wait to put these on. I know my feet will stay dry and look good at the same time.

Might be good for a rainy climate - In N. CA we get some rain, but not enough to keep these boots. The foot portion is huge, would definitely need bulky socks for them to work. Also, difficult to get off once they are on. They are cute, maybe for someone in a cold and rainy climate; otherwise they are too hot and cumbersome to wear on just any rainy day. If I did live in a cold-rainy climate they'd be perfect. As always, Zappos rocks for trying & returning!

As far as gum boots go - these take the cake. The lace up isn't as water tight as might be ideal but they definitely keep you warm and dry. They look adorable and are less stiff than others I have tried.

These feel much better on the feet than other rain boots I've tried on because they are shaped more like regular shoes, not flat and floppy like typical rubber boots. My only complaint is that the top part is too loose around the leg when worn with skirts (even when laced as tightly as possible-- which, as another customer mentioned below, causes the gusset to bunch up and rub against the shin). Would fit better on very tall people with larger calves.

v. cute boots - I wear a size 8, but the 39's were the best fit for me. I want to be able to wear thick socks in the winter, but not rattle around in the summer. I wore these for a 13 hour work day and after hour 10 my feet started to feel a bit uncomfortable. I would have loved these more if there had been better support.

Ballena... ballerina? After searching and searching for a rain boot that wasn't trendy.. .I came across the Ballenas ...quite stylish I admit, however...to me they were a bit heavy and too tall... a lot of rubber! They would have been perfect if they were calf high... I am still deciding if I should keep them.

I was looking for a pair of rubber boots to take down to Brazil, but something that wasn't shinny, and trendy, and that I can walk and stand on for a long time, and to keep my feet dry as well. After looking at countless pictures of rubber boots, I found Tretorn's Gullwing Ballena. It has a nice look (although the laces didn't turn me on), and it wasn't shinny as the other. The color was also understated, which is great for my style. I order it last night, and this afternoon they arrived!!! I tried them on and I loved them! The color is great (I got the brown one), the fit is great, even with the laces it looks great. I tried them with my thickiest socks to make sure they fit, and I noticed I got one size smaller than I usually wear; they fit snugly with those thick socks, and loose with no socks. Just one problem: taking them off was an ordeal; it was very hard getting them off my feet, specially without socks. That's not a big deal. I love these boots. Thanks for the fast and great service.

Too big for a little person! Such a cute boot, but just didn't look good on my 5'1" body. Or rather, it would if it were only going to be for purely casual use. I felt like a fly fisherman -- too big for city use. And I was so excited for these!
