I'm 29 years old and I had the Jester for 2 years but even before I bought the Jester I always wanted to purchase the Hot Shot or the Big Shot. I love the Jester but I was looking for something that can hold my laptop or tablet on long trips and had better back support since I hurt my back last year. I gotta say that this backpack is great. The extra top strap is a big help for when you have it loaded and it puts less weight on your back. It holds my tablet and Vaio great. I haven't taken it on a plane with me yet but will soon. I got the all TNF Black one; the only thing I was a little disappointed with was that the style and design is similar to the Jester which is a lot less, but that's okay because with everything it has it is worth it, especially if you suffer from back problems like me or if you need something for school or for long road trips or if you travel by plane a lot. This backpack is just great and Zappos has it less than the North Face website and with quick and free delivery if you have VIP Account. If you're thinking about getting this backpack, don't think about it too much - just get it, you wont regret it.

It was a tough choice between this and a Timbuktu for my college student. The deciding factor was the side pockets that are great for a water bottle and umbrella. Great pack and, as usual, phenomenal Zappos service!

Really nice bag. Sternum strap is vertically adjustable (took me a few days to discover). Zippers are heavy duty!

Bought this for for my daughter for school and other related high schools activities. It works great!

Fantastic backpack. Looks great, and feels great - awesome weight distribution and straps. My 15" MacBook Pro (three years old, non-unibody generation) fits in the laptop pocket with its Incase neoprene sleeve on. Narrower, but taller than my previous, outdated Jansport. Initially, I thought it might be too small, but looks are deceiving and you can squeeze a lot in here. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

I love it! I will be a freshman in college in the fall so I ordered this for the next years. I love the adjustable breast strap thing, it slides up and down so you can choose where it goes. The back of the backpack is hard so it will protect my laptop which fits perfectly. The green is the perfect color I love it! So awesome and perfect for students.

I bought this back pack for my husband who had wanted something we could take on hikes to carry our lunch, cheese and wine. He wanted it to be versatile enough to take when we travel. Both needs were met by this well-designed back pack. Lots of compartments and quality workmanship made him a very happy traveler!

My 12 year old sixth grade son loves the backpack. It is a good look for a boy and is sturdy and has lots of compartments. It comes with water bottle holders, straps and a hidden, built-in whistle on the zipper. Mom did good this time!

Overall I was satisfied with this purchase. The straps are very comfortable, you don't feel like you're straining your back. The one comment I have is I wish it has one more pocket, either inside exiting pockets or right outside the front one. Other than that, the exterior design looks trendy and chic. I use it for casual use and for work too.

Great bag. All my school books fit no problem! I like this bag because it's not as bulky as most. Good weight distribution too and plenty of compartments. :)

Of course there's a premium for the North Face logo, but it is a comfortable, durable backpack and I love the color!

I searched far and wide for the best backpack, and this is the pack that I finally choose. It is the perfect size for a college student like myself - not too large that it weighs you down, but it will hold pretty much anything that you need. My 15 inch MacBook Pro fits in the laptop sleeve with ease, and looks somewhat protected. I do wish that the sleeve had softer material on the inside, but that is only a small gripe. There are only 2 main compartments, which I personally like because there are not a bunch of extra useless pockets. Finally, the straps on the bag seem to be vary high quality and the back of the backpack is pretty rigid. It felt the best on my back out of all the backpacks that I tried. Zippers are large and seem to be very high quality. I'm expecting that this bag will last for many years to come.

I purchased the Hot Shot backpack before my Junior year of high school. I am headed to my first semester of college now, but this backpack has been the worst backpack I have ever purchased. Within a week of its arrival, the side drink holders with bungee cords to secure "up to a 32oz drink" broke on both sides. I had my Nalgene water bottle in them and without even pulling hard on the bungee cords, they snapped. Then, after about 1 semester of use, one of the shoulder straps started ripping from the body of the backpack. I had to sew it back on myself, and of course my sewing skills only lasted for about a month. It was the most inconvenient thing ever! Then, the handle on the top of the bag tore off! For a North Face backpack for the price I paid for it, this was the worst purchase I have ever made. I would NOT recommend this bag to ANYONE! Especially if they're using it for school!!
