I use this for commuting, as well as for recreational day trips. Very versatile and definitely a gift that will last forever.

I love almost everything about this back pack - it's big enough for a laptop and several books, it's waterproof, the outside, lined pocket is great for my phone, the color's pretty but not flashy, etc. I only have two complaints. The first is that the shoulder straps rub my arms when I walk. I've only worn this with short sleeves so far and think it won't be as much of a problem in the fall and winter. The other complaint is that the laptop sleeve doesn't have any way of closing. I've noticed that sometimes my laptop ends up bouncing back and forth when I walk. Otherwise, I love it!

I bought this for my upcoming hich school year, and It is perfect! It fits a completely full 3 inch binder, some folders, and some notebooks! I was weary at first that it might be too small, but it definetly isnt!

I'm a medical student, and as such I need a backpack that can carry a laptop, tablet, books, notebooks, etc. The recon is perfect for that. However, I've found that the new Recon isn't as comfortable as the previous version. In all fairness, I have a small frame and most backpacks make my back hurt, but I was rather disappointed that my old version was better. All in all, great backpack, love the cinch straps. Cute colors, too. Would recommend.

The Recon is the perfect size for a basic weekend trip to visit friends. I was able to fit everything necessary for a minimal activity weekend. The bag feels very light. The chest and waist strap help reduce the strain from the load. I wish the pockets opened wider. The fabric on the straps is scratchy against bare skin.

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. I've had the backpack for a few weeks and used it for a commuting bag to work (business casual environment) and as a daypack for hiking. It suited both purposes well. The waist straps & exit port for the water bladder (think camelback) were big reasons for my purchase of this model.
Only drawbacks so far: 1. Main compartment is a little tight due to the fact that they gave the secondary compartment (where tablet and organized pockets is located) more focus. 2. The additional zippered pockets on the backs of other models is missed.

Actually gave this as a gift, and the recipient loves it!! Unfortunately after three days of using, one seam on a pocket ripped open. I'm assuming it just wasn't sewn correctly. Waiting for a replacement. Recipient loves this bag.

I feel that the top of the backpack is bulky. Good padding and can hold a fair amount of things

Great backpack to travel with computer. Only downside, wish it had more capacity to store more things.

I am a nursing major right now and i really needed a backapck to be able to fit all the things needed for school and the job but also maintain organization. This backpack does just that! I love how there are two compartments that i can put things in, and a pouch on the front where i can quickly through my wallet or phone in.

Only complaint is that it's a bit heavy. Good for traveling and carrying heavy items rather than a light backpack for school.

Love the size and organization features of this backpack! I wish the back was a little more flexible or padded, can seem a bit hard on my skinny back since I don't have much padding of my own. :)

If you are a female looking for a new backpack that aids in support, safety, and endures the surroundings, then North Face has what you are looking for. I recently purchased a North Face Woman's Recon backpack. North Face is known for having very good products that will withstand the test of time. North Face Woman's Recon Backpack is a good product, because it is very durable and heavy duty. I believe that college students use this product the most because it is waterproof, has a specific compartment that is capable to hold a 15" laptop safely, and it has 360 degrees of reflectivity to help with the safety and protection of students walking to their studies. As a college student, it would be beneficial for you when you are traveling to and from class, because it protects all of your books and computers from the elements.
On my busy days of class, I am barely able to fit all of my books into it. I am thankful for the extra padding and support that the North Face Woman's Recon Backpack provides to my back and shoulders. The North Face Woman's Backpack is designed to fit the females body with our smaller torsos.
I enjoy this product and recommend it for college students who will have to withstand the elements. I believe that this product will last me a long time throughout my college career and beyond. If you have any back problems that require extra support, then the North Face Woman's Recon Backpack is dedicated to fulfilling your needs.

This is a good student or commuter bag. The bulk of the bag can easily accommodate a computer and/or a couple of books. It can work somewhat as a day pack but the compartments are narrow and could become cumbersome or difficult to stuff a sweater in without some adjustments to the contents.

This backpack is fantastic, and very roomy with all its pockets and compartments. However the large compartment is pretty difficult to pack a lot of books into because the back padding is very stiff and doesn't have any give, which makes it difficult to pack it full. Hopefully it loosens up a bit and becomes more flexible.

I wish the padding wasn't so hard and was more flexible , hard to get stuff in and out of when theres a lot in there. Used it for a weekend trip and it held alot but wasn't that great to carry

I use this for work and it carries my tools and stuff great, but it's a little hard to fit a lunch bag in it.

Great backpack, super comfortable and supportive.
I ordered the hydro green/snow cone red color and the color was not the same as the picture.
I was expecting the turquoise color with the mint green accent color. It was actually a blue with a lighter blue accent color.
I kept the backpack, I just really wish the colors were the turquoise I was expecting.
Other than misleading colors, the backpack is fantastic!

I am replacing my old North Face backpack which I have owed for over 10 years. I don't know which backpack it was but the best I can tell the two are relatively comparable in size and function. My previous backpack had the zippers' stitches rip and come off the backpack fabric. My first impression of my new backpack its quality is inferior. The thick fabric that was used in my original has been replaced with thinner lighter material. I beat up my old backpack and I never once had a tear in the fabric. I feel this one will rip along the way. Though it does seem the issue with the zippers does seem to have been addressed with the new backpack. Also, the plastic used in the chest and waist clasps are much weaker. Though I will concede it's way too early to tell for any of my concerns.

Excellent pack for school. Modest capacity, but big enough for a couple of classes worth of books. The pockets and lap top pocket are well thought out and very well constructed. If you are looking for a good school pack, this one is an excellent candidate.
I would rate it at five stars if the main compartment was 6 or 7 liters bigger.
