Excellent Shoe and Service - I have a difficult size to find in stores. These shoes fit well and were comfortable the first time I wore them. Imagine will be more comfortable when broken in. I will use them occasionally as dress shoes. Exactly what I wanted to wear with suits. They were admired by my colleagues. The service was very prompt and efficient. Ordered on Sunday, delivered on the following Tuesday.

Just like I expected! Very comfortable shoes once I wore them for a day. Highly recommended.

The Perfect Shoes - The shoes were comfortable, and fit very well. It is hard to find good dress shoes in a large size, and these shoes were perfect. I hope that there will be more shoes in the future.

Good Value - This shoe fits comfortably from the time one begins to wear it. It is a true B width with a 2A heel which is important to people with narrower feet. It is a good value.

Great Shoe. Very Classy - I love these shoes. Much more comfortable than my Cole Haans. The reason the 'Look' gets 4 stars and not 5 is because the Bordeaux shoe turns a bright red/orange color when scuffed.

Great Shoe! I bought mine for a national conference for work. I had no time for a break-in period, but the shoes performed great. I wore them for heavy lifting, walking on many surfaces (carpet, concrete) and they never got uncomfortable.

Exactly what I wanted! These shoes are exactly what I wanted. They are soft, elegant, and fit the style of my suits perfectly. I have no complaints whatsoever, though I did spend a bit more to have the shoes re-soled since the leather is so buttery soft. Highly recommend!

Awesome! These are the best fitting, best feeling new shoes I ever put on! Men with large feet (mine are 14) will attest to the difficulty in finding shoes that feel good on our feet. These absolutely do. Classic lines and great comfort, you will not be disappointed with these.

Large shoe review - These are wonderful shoes. It actually gives a size 16 some class. That is hard to find. They are pretty comfortable, and affordable.

A better value than Allen-Edmonds? Very possible - Could these be just as good as Allen-Edmonds, and at so much less? The original soles may not last a few years like my beloved A-Es, but I think the construction is just as good. It's immediately apparent that the Melton is very well made, and the finish is beautiful. What amazes me is that after a few weeks of harsh tromping around Manhattan, the creases are still so slight that the shoes appear brand-new. It helps to use only a premium shoe cream (wax may give a better shine but can't nourish the leather like cream), however, it's also indicative of the leather's quality. I actually like J&M's veal better than A-E's calfskin; the latter may be suppler but I don't know that it's significantly more comfortable. The Melton is also much, MUCH more comfortable than A-Es. My step is very heavy, and I can't wear A-Es without insoles. The Meltons have such good cushion and arch support that I almost (almost!) don't need insoles. But, I was disappointed when my order came. The shoes were HUGE, partly because the sole sticks out (relative to the rest of the shoe) more than on other shoes. However, they were indeed at least a half size, perhaps a full size larger, than what the "true" size ought to be. I wasn't sure if I needed to go down one-half or a full size, so I mailed back the shoes and paid a little more at a J&M store in midtown. Sorry, Zappos. In fairness, it wasn't your fault. One thing about the pair I bought is that one shoe isn't quite smooth on the back right. Polish wouldn't even it out, so I applied a couple of layers of Kiwi Leather Dye.

Great purchase - You'll never regret buying a J&M shoe, and the Melton is no different. It is exactly what you expect it to be - great.

Little tight, but great wear - The toe box on these was a little tight when I first received them, but after a little wear, the leather stretched and the shoes feel great now. I highly recommend the Melton.

Great shoe--Exemplary service! I ordered the J&M's because I needed to look sharp, and my dress shoes looked tired. I wasn't sure exactly what size, as brands do tend to vary, so ordered both the 9 & 9 1/2, EEE. This order, my first from Zappos, was shipped promptly, and had plenty of time to get to me prior to the scheduled event. I tracked the shipment on the web, and the carrier indicated that it had been delivered to my home, but unfortunately this was not the case! No shoes! Time was getting short, and I called Customer Service. Your staff was EXTREMELY helpful, placed a trace on the shipment, and shipped out a replacement pair (only size 9EEE was by then available) with express shipping! They arrived before the event, fit perfectly, and I'm quite pleased with the shoes. I still don't know exactly what happened to the first shipment! Thanks to your Customer Service staff for saving the day! I will say for other customers considering this shoe that they need to allow a little more time than I had for breaking in the shoes. They are a bit stiff for the first few wearings, but comfort rapidly improves. I would certainly recommend them.

2nd pair - My husband loved the first pair so much he asked for another pair that he can just keep for 'special' occasions. We also got the brown ones. At size 15 he doesn't find shoes that he likes!

Superb! I have wide feet and these are the MOST comfortable shoes I own. Plus, they look great! I was worried because they were a little stiff at the beginning, but broke in very well. I like the high shine too; I intend to buy another pair!

Surprised! This was my first mail order for shoes, and the first time for this brand of shoe. I was very pleased with the quality and appearance of the shoe. The price was quite reasonable for the quality and the fit was excellent. I have a very narrow foot and cannot easily find good shoes (or any other kind) that really fit.

Comfort and in style - The Johnston cap toe is the best shoe, it is made for comfort. I am a big man and these shoes are able to handle my weight.

Basic but beautiful- This shoe belongs in every man's wardrobe; it's the perfect balance of form and function, for an amazing price. This is definitely one of the best deals on this website. What's better is Zappos itself. Unlike some companies, Zappos really does strive to deliver the best customer service possible. I challenge you to find a company that is more customer-oriented.

My husband looks GREAT in these shoes - Wonderful, sexy looking men's shoe. My husband loves them, says they are truly comfortable and he wants to wear them every day now.

Quite Excellent - The shoe felt really nice and looks great. I wish I could send another review 6 months after wear to let everyone know the extent of wear on the materials. So, far I am very pleased. I wanted black also but they ran out when I ordered.

Great Shoe - Finally a site where I can find quality shoes that fit! The Melton is a great looking, well made, comfortable dress shoe. It was slightly narrow for width ordered, but with a little stretching it fits perfectly.

Excellent - Excellent shoe for the money. It has a stronger, smoother appearance than many cap-toed shoes that cost 25 - 50 percent more.
