These shoes fit perfectly out of the box. Since I had been wearing slip on for many years, I found them somewhat tight around my upper foot. It took about three wearings before they felt comfortable. After that, I hardly noticed I had them on. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Very pleased. Very high quality. Of course easily scuffed, but like any other leather shoe. Laces easily come undone, but I solved that by double-knotting -- which actually looks nice. Comfortable in the main. One day I began to develop a sore on my heel, but that didn't occur again -- perhaps I tied it too tight. I've worn them for as long as twelve or fourteen hours and my feet were still comfortable -- comfort is a win for this pair. Very classy look. Very sharp. Again, very satisfied.

I think the shoes is great. Like any other shoe it does require some breaking in it will take about 3 to 5 wearings which is standard. I will admit the leather was firmer than other shoes but that is what you want with cap toe shoes since you want a more rigid look. I think the people who were complaining about the weather being too hard have not broken in or worn enough work shoes!

Okay, I'm finally popping for a pair of these shoes. I wore these to my concert with tux last night and they definitely live up to their heritage. My dad owned a pair of their shoes, so I've known about the quality workmanship all my life. I have very narrow feet - these work, holding my heels in. It took a bit of warming them up to loosen up the toe box. Totally worth it.

Attractive, comfortable, and fairly priced shoe for the quality. Provides a solid balance for much of my professional wardrobe. I plan to buy another pair and would especially recommend the shoes for executives on a budget looking for decent quality at a fair price. And of course, the folks that I have dealt with at Zappos exude what excellent customer service is all about. I had previously owned two different pairs of Johnston & Murphy shoes. But after the Great Recession hit, I had to "settle" for a pair of Bostonians until a few weeks ago when I purchased my third pair. What a difference!!! The J&M's are so much more substanial shoes. Also, I have a thin heel, and the custom sizing options offered by J&M makes all the difference in how comfortable the shoes fit. I'm glad to be back wearing Johnston & Murphy shoes!!!

I own the WAVERLY WINGTIP which is a similar base and love it. I bought the MELTON CAP-TOE to wear in my wedding this Oct 2013. I have suggested to all of my grooms men to purchase the same shoe. You do need to break them in just a little bit. The leather around the ankle does bite because the leather is brand new. But you can work that out with your hands before you wear them, only takes a few minutes.

I have owned seven or eight pairs of these in both colors over the past several years. I wear them continuously at work 50 plus hours a week, 50 weeks a year. Comfort is paramount as I have had a hammer toe for several years and frankly don't have time to have surgery and go through recovery. These shoes literally keep me in the game. They're comfortable right out of the box and after eight months or so, I'll give them to a patient and pull the next pair off the shelf. They've stayed true to size over the years and never go out of style. I have never felt underdressed both in and out of the office and receive positive comments almost weekly. Best dress shoe I've ever owned and worth every penny. Value and comfort never go out of style.
