I'm a decades-long fan of Vasque, but they're not fitting the way they used to. This boot, in particular, feels as if the heel has been skewed to the outside of natural foot shape -- it rubs terribly against the inside of my heel while not coming in contact with the outside.

When I picked up the unopened box after receiving these boots I honestly thought there were weights in the box. These boots are surprisingly heavy. I doubt that there posted weight of 3 pounds is correct. They seem more like 4 or 5 pounds per boot... In addition they were so stiff (like solid plastic) that I figured I would have to wear them nonstop for a month straight just to get them even remotely comfortable. Along with there “plastic like” stiffness they are a full size too big along with a ½ size too wide (I’m an exact size US mens 11 ½ with normal width and I ordered an 11 ½ ...). Aside from the heavy weight, stiffness and “over size”, they were not comfortable on the soles of my feet and they walked terribly... I am very surprised that the other reviewers here haven’t noted any of the same complaints as myself seeing as it took me all of 10 minutes to notice the very obvious flaws and put them back in their box to be returned... Granted seemingly all new hiking boots are a bit stiff and not light as a feather but this boot is ridiculous... Very disappointed with Vasque. The hype that surrounds this company boggles my mind after this experience.

If U like this boot then try big ski boots...

Good boots for bad knees and ankles! Great for daily wear on concrete! My husband has been wearing this variety of Vasque boots since the late ‘90s. They are TERRIFIC work boots. He works in a manufacturing environment and finds these shoes terrific in supporting his feet and helping some sore knees after walking around all day on concrete floors. We couldn't find anyone that carried them for a while, regardless of our internet searches, so we tried several other styles, and none of the others did the trick. The soles hold up very well. The laces are a great length and hold up very well. We typically have to replace the laces after about 2 years of daily wear and pull! The boot offers excellent ankle support, but is not too high on the back of the Achilles tendon area. Just high enough. The tongue is attached all the way up, but even with a wider foot, that is not an issue. The boot is probably in the mid-range in weight -- strong enough for support, but not so heavy you feel like lead weights are on your feet. The soles offer excellent support and lasts REALLY well. Very non-skid on concrete or semi-wet floors. And it doesn't have that "flair" that some soles have that can cause your ankle to turn or cause a fall. He's worn them in snow conditions, not much of that in our home state of North Carolina, but they have kept his toes warm and dry in snow or rain. My husband is a big guy with smallish feet. He keeps thinking he's an 11, but we get these in an 11.5 Wide. Thankfully, the size is on the tag on the tongue so we can settle the argument about what's the right size each time we re-order them. That seems to be perfect with a good pair of cotton socks. Zappos was terrific. Very quick order, very clear info on the website, lots of good input in reviews, and very fast shipping. Will do business with them again FOR SURE! Found them by going to the Vasque website searching for the boots once again!

My husband wears size 15. Not easy to find! He needed a work boot, but doesn't like when they get too heavy. I found these and he liked them, I ordered a pair and right away he was like, wow! He wore them for a month and said "order more" (when you find something the picky man likes; Order!). This was 3 years ago! We have been ordering the Vasque Clarion GTX ever since. He loves the lightweight and treaded sole. Color is manly and still looks good from the wife standard. Good ankle and arch support, and waterproof. The husband is hard on shoes and they hold up fine, I'm not going to say for years, but he's on his feet all day, everyday, on a large Farm/Ranch operation and puts on a lot of miles. And having a shoe that fits and is comfy with support is exactly what you need! We'll continue to buy the Clarion GTX until it's no longer available. Which we hope does not happen! Thanks Zappos for carrying this shoe!

Great foot bed and support. They are a little stiffer than I'm used to but they should be fine when they break in a little more. I've had them out in a lot of wet weather and they have very good grip and they keep your foot nice and dry.

These are the only boots my husband wears to work (he is in construction) every day for the last 8 years. He had ankle surgery in both of his ankles and if he does not wear these shoes, he is in pain. They are sturdy, warm. I am about to buys his fifth pair.

I purchased these boots prior to hiking the "w" in Torres Del Paine, Chile. They were warm, comfortable, dry, and provided excellent ankle support. I really like them and suggest them to any serious hikers.

This is my third pair in about 10 years. I really like that I can still buy them and the latest pair is the same high quality as the first one. They break in easily, are reasonably damp-proof, are comfortable all-year (although I live in Central PA, where there is no real winter!).

My husband bought these boots and he loves them! It's been a couple of months now and he still compliments them on a regular basis. Very comfortable, great in the snow or just walking around.

The best, full stop. As other reviewers have stated, these boots are fully comfortable from day one. They are the most comfortable, durable and rewarding purchase to be made for years of foot happiness over many miles of hiking. No regrets!

I bought these boots in 2003 and still use them today (July, 2013). I have been backpacking at Philmont and several other locations with them. I have gone on countless hikes and mowed countless lawns with them, and they are still going strong after a decade. These boots are incredible.

This is a great boot for hiking the Wasatch mountains in Utah. I needed the shank for rock climbing and found the boot needed no breaking in. I also think it is one of the lightest boots out there considering it is a hard-core hiking boot.

First off, I love to hike. Hiking is life. The rest is just details (remember that T Shirt?). Pretty much a bad ass boot. Can't go wrong. In fact it's all that's right in the hikers world. Keep 'em in the closet if you're out with the honey on a movie date. Too bulky for the theatre. But on the trail (on a trail trip) these boots do a sexy number. 'Bout to buy my 3rd pair today!

These felt a full size larger than indicated. I rarely need to drop to a size 13 and almost always wear a size 14 (roughly 9 times out of 10), but my feet were swimming in these things. The D-Medium width also felt much wider than that. They are very nice looking and well constructed, but they run a little large, even for boots.

I owed two pair of Clarion GTX. The first pair was recommended by a local orthotics specialist due to the width of my feet and planned use. These were the most comfortable hiking/backpacking boots I had ever owned. I wore them for years and finally the leather cracked and broker through and the inside of the soles disintegrated. I bought another pair. Same fit and comfort but within three years the insides of the soles disintegrated. I really like the boots but don't feel they are as durable as they should be.
