Wonderful boot - Great support, easy to get in/out of, & comfortable right away, except that I had to get it a little large to accommodate an extra long second toe and a very wide foot which means that it's a little large over all and I'm having to figure out the right sock combination to totally customize the fit for myself. I have a small foot (4.5 in length), but take a 5 to 5.5 in a boot for comfort. I tried the 5 and the 5.5; the 5 actually seemed to be the same length as the 5.5, but was more narrow and squeezed my little toes, so I got the larger (5.5). A special quality to this boot for me is that even though it's technically "too long" for my foot, the uppers do not break awkwardly and uncomfortably across the top of my foot when I step. Where the shoes "breaks" is a frequent problem for me, especially with shoes that are more supportive/stiffer, because they're often designed to break at a certain point and if your foot is shorter than that for which the shoe is designed, then you're in trouble. But the uppers on these boots are not like that--they break where you need them to and so I have absolutely no discomfort on top. The lace placement is also great and allows for easy comfort adjustments. For extra comfort, I put pink Superfeet insoles in them. The boots work great for strutting along because they're light and flexible, as well as for climbing over rocks and navigating rocky, uneven trails and tricky steep trails with gravel. As soon as I get the sock business down, I'll be in heaven!

Great Boot for Narrow Feet - I had just about given up finding a hiking type boot for my narrow feet. A salesperson at a hiking shop in North Carolina told me to check out Asolo hiking boots because they "ran narrow". Having heard this hundreds of times I was hesitant but am so glad I did. They only stocked up to a 10 and I needed a 10.5 so I headed straight for Zappos hoping I could find my size. Luckily I did and now I have bought two pairs of these boots. They are great! Even though they are classified as medium width, they are really narrow. Actually they fit 100% better than most "narrow" shoes. The build quality seems very good and the structure is good for hiking, walking etc... I do add an insert with arch support in all my shoes and did with these as well. I would highly recommend this boot for someone having trouble finding a narrow hiking boot. Love it!

Easy to break in boot - These boots were great for difficult hiking and in the snow. They took very little time to break in. Only thing is buy an extra pair of shoelaces- they broke after a week of wear. Otherwise great, comfortable boot.

Oh, my gosh...best fit in a boot I have ever had. I wear two pairs of socks and I have plenty of toe room. Am training to climb Kilimanjaro in September and I am delighted with the boots...the color...the fit.

Great boots! Great boot for folks with narrow heels! Do not need any break-in time---broke mine in on the slopes of New River Gorge National River in West Virginia!

Great boots - I love these boots. I do have a narrow foot as some other reviewers had mentioned also. These boots fit great and required virtually no "break in".

Fantastic light hikers. This is one of those rare boots that felt perfect the moment I put it on. I was looking for a light hiker with ankle support to fit my narrow feet. The foot bed has good arch support and it does not feel sloppy near the ball of my foot. I took these boots out of the box for a week hiking in Utah and had no troubles whatsoever. They are light with a bit of flex in the sole. The sole is grippy with excellent traction. Even while hiking through water and sand, they would grip when climbing rock. I wore the same sock combo that I wear with my wild land fire boots: a sock liner with a light/medium weight hiking sock and had no problems with blisters.

Good Fit and Comfortable- I got these boots after a recommendation from a hiking store employee took a look at my high arch and skinny feet. These boots fit great. I wear them all the time and love them and I am so picky. After going to the flagstaff REI store in Seattle, where they couldn't find a single boot that really fit me well, I felt pretty discouraged. I wandered into a little store in Port Townsend looking at their Vasque collection. My old standby was Vasque. I had never tried Asolo. I do always add my own footbed, one with a solid arch support. Asolo is my new old standby! I could buy 10 pair of these boots and just wear them out for the rest of my life and be quite happy. Unless they make them with a built-in GPS unit, these boots as they are will certainly suffice my needs for hiking and walking the Doberman in the fields.

Great hiking boots - I am really liking these boots. They are very comfy but without excessive cushion which I've found to make other hiking boots sloppy on the downhill. They've been stiff and stream line enough to fit in little pockets of rock for climbing up short rocky sections. They have good arch and ankle support. I just wish they had Vibram soles.

I bought a pair of these for my girlfriend. she has worn them about 5 times and put less than 25 miles on them hiking. During that time the thickened black toe section of the sole completely separated on both shoes about 2-3 inches. Although Asolo customer support is responsive, being just over warranty I have no recourse even though they look brand new still. This is the 3rd pair of Asolo I have bought with the other 2 pair being man's with absolutely no problem and lots of mileage on them. Just beware that you may be buying boots you may not be able to use very long.

Blister City! My last two pair of hiking boots were Asolo (530's), and they're one of the few brands that fit my narrow, low volume foot. When I first tried on the Stynger, I thought I was golden. They felt great around the store and house. Then I did a short 5 mile trek in the Adirondacks, and my feet came back blistered beyond belief. There was no breaking in this boot, so it was returned. My niece bought the same boot (against my recommendation) and had the exact same experience. They are too rigid and inflexible. It's like walking in a plastic case with no protection from rubbing. Even moleskin didn't work. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody, and I'm shocked all the reviews came back so positively. Other sites say the same thing I'm writing about this boot.

I start this by stating that I have only really worn these boots for hiking for a few day hikes so far, but I tried to put them through the paces because they will be on my feet every day for 2+ weeks during a trek in Nepal so I want to know what I am in for. So far so good. Virtually no break-in period for these boots, good comfort right out of the box (I did put in green superfeet - better arch support). My hiking has been on very well-groomed trails, wet stone, and single-track type trails in the Alps in the summer as well as some basic walking on paved roads. Traction was never an issue. I made a point of standing up to the third eyelet in a freezing glacial-melt stream for about 3 minutes and my feet stayed totally warm and dry. Also although I was wearing thick Smartwool hiking socks my feet were never overheated and they did not get sweaty. While they seem a little heavy in the hand, they are quite light on my feet. No idea about durability or real warmth yet but I hope they are good!

Researched these boots before buying- LOVE them. I've worn them on the AT, Pacific Crest, John Muir and many, many miles of trails in many parks with no hot spots and not a single blister- all while carrying a 35 to 45 lb. pack. I have their full leather version for my uniform boots (park ranger). Wouldn't use any other boots, since I don't want to be stuck out in the wilderness having my feet in bad shape. I'm 50 years old and have been backpacking and worn a lot of boots, and these are the best I've ever owned. Zappos makes it easy to get new pairs when I'm out in areas far away from any store, and its such good service that even when there is a store near by, I still order, sit back and wait for the super fast delivery!

I bought my first pair of these two years ago when I moved to Alaska. Knew my old day hikers wouldn’t cut it here. I have a wider fore foot and narrow heel and these have worked really well for me. I wear a 9 in other shoes and a 9 in this as well (fit well with vary weights of socks). These have really excellent support, especially for the ankle. I roll mine all the time from bad sprains I’ve had previously, but I’ve had no issues with these boots. My first pair is holding up great after two years- I just had to grab another pair to make sure I have a back-up in case they change the fit or go to a different style sometime. The one issue I did have was some heel slippage on up hills after they were really broken in. I put in Superfeet inserts and that took care of it. Also, when my first pair of laces went, I bought a new, thicker pair and that resulted in a ton of blisters. I went back and got a thin pair of laces and everything was back to normal. I’d have never thought lace thickness would matter that much, but it did, so be careful and spare yourself some blisters.

I've now worn these shoes for several hikes and can honestly state that they are great! I have a hard time finding shoes that accommodate my left foot - which I broke over 20 years ago. They'll feel fine in the store and fine for the first couple of miles and then my foot starts hurting. These shoes go the distance. And they are cute!

Best hiking boots. Asolo Stynger is so reliable and gives me very good ankle protection yet so comfortable. It has excellent traction and support. With mid weight hiking socks my usual size fits perfectly. No break in time. No blisters. I love them.\r\nIt\'s hard to find a perfect pair in Manhattan because there are very few good speciality stores for hiking shoes. With Zappos\' free shipping both ways policy I could try a few different pairs without worrying about returning the ones don\'t fit.

Very Best Hiking Boot - These boots can be worn right out of the box. No blisters, no breaking-in time. They wear well, and they look great. Over time the orange color becomes more brown, but I still get compliments on these boots.

I love this boot! This boot feels great on my feet, which are a little wide at the toes and narrow at the heel. The lacing system holds my heel firmly and there is plenty of room in toe box. The boot is sturdy and great for all types of hiking. There was no break in period necessary and I have not gotten any blisters. The only problem I've had is the sole at the toes delaminated from the boot after about 3 hikes! I had to return that pair, but got another pair of the same boots and haven't had that problem. I still love the boots even if the soles delaminate again because they are soooo comfortable! Hopefully, that won't happen. My friend got the same boots and also loves them and she hasn't had any problems with hers.

3 years strong - I live in Montana and these boots are the only shoes I wear after December 1st. I bought them three seasons ago and they still look new. I reseal them every season with a nubuck/suede sealer and my feet have still never gotten wet, even on lengthy hikes and creek crossings. These boots are by far the best investment in footwear I have ever made. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to own the same pair of boots for years, because these will last ya'.

Asolo Stynger GTX is a good buy - I have only worn them a couple of times but so far so good. The boots seem really durable and they look stylish. The only issue I am having right now is some tightness in the ankle and it is rubbing on the outside of the bones that sticks out the sides. I believe that is because they are not broken in. Good ankle support and toe protection. I have not had them in wet conditions yet but I think they will do very well. I plan to take them hiking in Utah this weekend!
