Love these boots! You need to be patient as they are very strong and have very stiff leather, but I'm a daily hiker and they are starting to soften a bit and I love them! I met a girl on the trail that had the same pair only 10 year old and they looked so soft and supple but not worn down. Love to know these will last!!

I purchased these shoes for a moderate to strenuous hike in all kinds of terrain and in all types of weather. Really didn't have a break in period as they were comfortable from the first day. They performed extremely well for what I needed. Would definitely buy them again.

A truly excellent shoe: I not only wear these for lots of hiking (from deserts to alpine), but as my everyday shoe (except in high summer, when they are a bit warm). Beautifully made and so solidly constructed. While they are a hair stiff in the ankle while breaking in, the footbed was immediately comfortable; unlike any other backpacking boot, I would not hesitate to put these on brand new and get on the trail. The only thing I would add to some earlier reviews is that these boots can be resoled: it costs $70 plus shipping, which is a great price, since the main body of the boot will, with a little care, last much longer than the soles (which will wear out after 2 or 3 years of heavy use, especially on lots of asphalt or stoney ground). Asolo's official partner for resoling is Dave Page Cobbler. Your local cobbler will probably not have the special parts in stock.

I purchased these boots about 1 month ago, and I think they will wear very well. Out of the package, they seemed very high quality and comfortable. I wear between an 8.5 and 9 in women's and I was unsure what size to go with here. I decided on the 8.5, and even with my thickest sock, they were very roomy in the toe and fit just right. Regardless of what other reviewers have said, I still think it's important to break a boot in over time before wearing on a long hike straight out of the box. Although comfortable, I started to get a small hot spot on a short hike in my brand-new boots. I attribute this to the break-in period and don't anticipate problems once they've been properly broken in. I would definitely recommend these boots!

I have fussy feet and it's difficult finding a shoe that's comfortable. I also have a weak ankle and keep twisting it. I bought these boots specifically for that ankle and they work like a charm. These boots are worth the money. They are very stable. There are so many times they prevented a twist. When hiking on ridged, rocky trails there's no painful feet the next day. Because they are so stable, there is not a lot of bend in the boot so your calf and hamstrings may feel a little sore until you get used to them. Stretch well before the hike. I recommend buying 1/2 size larger. I bought my size and they felt fine but when I hiked my toes kept hitting the front of the boot injuring my toe nails. I love these boots. They're the best! Thank you Zappos for putting up with sending me so many shoes until I finally pick a pair.

Asolo hiking boots have changed my life. I used to wear $40 to $60 hiking boots, whatever was on sale, and they would be okay, would last 2 or 3 years from wearing only on weekends. Eventually the hook hardwear would break or the nylon fabric would get scuzzy. Then came Asolo. I decided to splurge, a mid life indulgence. I wanted to look good and proud and feel good when I put on my boots, which I wear for ankle stability. These are such a pleasure to wear in, whether on city sidewalks or Alaska mud hikes or rocky beaches or woodsy trails. I never worry about my weak ankles spraining. I have never sprained my ankles in these. They fit really well, too. I have hard to fit wide feet, and the regular B width fits me just fine. I think sizing is accurate: an 8 is a true 8. When I do sprain my ankle while wearing sneakers, then I just wear my Asolos every day for a couple of weeks, and I am healed. The shoes also look fine even when beat up. I do maintain them regularly with saddle soap and Lexol or Leather Honey. The quality is just amazing. Not made in Italy though Asolo is an Italian company. Made in Romania but apparently under great training and supervision. I would never wear Merrell, Vasque, Keen or Kamik again. They just feel junky now. Pay the extra $60 dollars, Asolo is worth it. I believe they last longer. I am on year two of conversion so we'll see.

I bought these boots to replace ones that I wore hiking in the Northern Cascades. With my old boots I lost four toenails and agonized over the multitude of blisters that formed over a five day trek. These boots are fantastic! Not only did I not receive one blister, my toenails are fine. I did break them in slightly before the hike, but I was very comfortable with them. They are definitely worth the high price tag. I wore custom orthotics, made by a podiatrist, in each boot, therefore I ordered them a half size larger than I normally wear. I would certainly recommend these boots and I will be wearing them on every hike I take.

I love these boots. I have been wearing them for years, and after about six years I was finally ready to buy my second pair. They are so supportive and comfortable and I actually get compliments on them all the time. The Gore-Tex has never stopped working 100%, even after all these years. The Vibram soles are the best - springy and shock absorbing. I wear them every day, as I walk to work 3 miles in the morning (carrying a heavy backpack) and then home again at night on concrete and pavement, and then go trail hiking on the weekends. They are stiff and heavy (1.9 pounds each) but so comfortable at the same time, so as another reviewer wrote they make me feel like I could hike anywhere carrying as much weight as I need to. I have re-soled the first pair a few times as the Vibram soles do wear out faster than the rest of the boot, but it's a lot less expensive to re-sole than buy a new pair. I recommend these very highly and I hope Asolo never stops making them.

This is a great hiking shoe. I didn't even have to break into it. It is good to go at least a half size up to wear comfortably with hiking socks. I used it to climb Kilimanjaro and I bought it a few days before I left.

These boots are made very well however they run too large for my narrow feet. Even though I wear orthotics and two pairs of socks they do not fit well for me. I have tried to break them in but my feet are getting hot spots and blisters. Not to mention sore. This review does not reflect the quality of these boots. They are made well. All seams are smooth and finished. Great grip on the sole. Nice padded interior ankle shaft. I wish these did fit. I am rating these three stars only because they do not fit.

Most comfortable boot I ever wore, but don't bother buying any extra or high quality laces for them, as the boots wont last. Soles delaminate horribly, and treads don't last long at all. I would rate style higher, except you cant be stylin' when your soles are floppin'.
