A little too much room in toe box but no shoe is perfect, excellent craftsmanship

The box was marked 9 1/2 wide but the boot in the box was not a wide shoe and the tag on the inside of the shoe did not designate that this was a wide shoe like all my other boots.

Great hiking shoes. I put 8 miles in them hiking half dome when they were still brand new and they were great. They are heavy, but what hiking shoes is not. I do feel the colors were fun, but a black pair would have definitely made them look less large on my small feet. Great quality and comfortable brand. My husband owns an pair and I will be getting our young son some in the near future.

First, I love these boots, very well made. They are perfect for any environment you will encounter. They are pretty stiff right out of the box. I took them out on a short three mile ruck run. I wore my very thin 5.11 socks and had some hot spots on the outer part of my toes. I was ready to look for a different pair. I did two things that made a huge difference. I while at REI they told me they had a tool to help stretch them out in the toe box and I got medium cushion wool socks by smartwool. Wow, world of difference. I would not suggest these boots to to others to run in because of how stiff the sole is. The sole is perfect for tough terrain and there is a ton of ankle support which is what they are intended for. I just am super rough on my gear and in a pinch I want to know I can move quick and in a hurry to a better location.

These would be the perfect boots if they came with better soles. Comfortable, lightweight, waterproof; unfortunately, the soles on mine wore down very quickly, and they never had good traction to begin with. I'm looking into options for having mine re-soled with Vibrams.

Great boot, but not for wide feet - I have a wide foot. These boots feel great upon putting them on, however after a short time walking around I realized the narrow width (yes, on the wide size) is too detrimental for holding onto these as a serious boot investment. I have to send mine back.

Very Happy With These Boots - I had never been on a real hike before a couple of weeks ago, so I had never owned quality hiking boots. I bought these because they felt the best when I tried them on in a local store. I hiked the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma for three days after breaking these in for 6 days, and did not have a single problem with my feet. The hike was a combination of dirt and pebble trails, boulders, climbing, etc., and the boots stayed comfortable. If I had to list one thing that could be improved, I might ask for a little more cushioning in the sole.

A nice comfortable shoe - I haven't worn this boot much yet but it is comfortable to wear without much breaking in. I did have to return it for a half-size larger shoe than I normally wear.

Very comfortable, but I've had 2 pairs now over the years where the soles came off after a few hundred miles.

I am writing this review to inform my fellow hikers of a little uncommon piece of knowledge that I wish I had known before buying the ASOLIO Fugitive boots. You must realize that the boots are designed to fail within about five years. By fail I mean delaminate. Let me explain. Last week I was two miles from my car near Sedona when the soles of both shoes my ASOLO boots began to disconnect. I toppled head first when a sole caught a rock on the trail. I landed on my hands and scraped my right palm. This is when I noticed the soles were coming apart! After about a quarter of a mile the right sole became so detached that I was force to remove it and walk in my sock. After another half mile the other left foot sole became too loose to walk on. At this point I was forced to hobble in my socks back to my car. The pain of this ordeal was quite intense. I had these boots about four years and had used them about 10 times for hiking. This should not have happened and I feel it is unacceptable. I requested a refund or replacement but was told that this often happens and to go find a cobbler by their phone contact. What? This is common! I cannot believe a pair of boots so highly recommended is doomed to failure. The only companies that I have found that provide an acceptable guarantee were Cabelas and LLBean (both of these companies claim to guarantees their boots for life under normal wear and tear). Having your boots fall off your feet is not normal.
I'd also recommend:
Try LLbean or Cabelas

Very slick on the front part, heel part not so slippery. Yes, I had read this in one other reviewers review and yes, it's slippery. Seems that the front ends up resting on just 2 protruding traction hubs and on their edges only. If you put your weight on the front on a slippery surface, you will slide like ice!

I have had a pair for 2 years now. I hike in them on average twice a week and have gained a tremendous amount of respect for their quality. My last boots were Salomon Wings GTX which were awesome but wore out in 18 months. I hike steep rugged terrain and lava caps in Northern California and boots don't last long here. The rough lava eats soles away and flattens out arch support quickly. However, I have never owned boots that have held up as well as these Asolos. They still look great and have all the original shape and support. Not a single loose thread. No separated stitching, no paper-thin insoles or other fabrics ready to blow out. The tread is finally wearing down but that's inevitable and to be expected by now, yet the rest of the shoe is still tight and rigid. Hard to believe anything this sturdy could be as comfortable either. These are serious boots made for extreme conditions. You probably will never need something like this for picnicking, camping and fishing. But you'll really appreciate them in severe hiking/backpacking conditions for sure.

Need larger sizes. They need to make up to size 15 and 16. Come one Asolo. I have grown out of my pair of size 13's and need to bump up to a 15, but have been left out in the cold. Give us larger sizes on this boot and across your line of products. Especially considering anyone looking to wear a double layer of socks would want to size up.

I needed to find great hiking boots and thought these would do the trick. I put them on for a leisurely walk around my neighborhood. Within two blocks the outer sides of my big ties were rubbing on the side of the shoe. I took off my socks and I have two nice blisters. I am glad that I tried them on the street before I took a real hike.

I'm a woman who loves Asolo's narrow heel, high arch support, and narrow midfoot that locks around my instep, but the women's boots all have a narrow toebox that contacts my little toe and doesn't leave any wiggle room. So I tried the men's Fugitive GTX in size 7.5 (euro 40 2/3), hoping that would be a similar but wider fit than the women's size 9 which is a euro 41 1/3) The sage/black is a really nice looking boot. The canvasy part makes it look modern and breathable. I didn't feel like the men's D width offered any advantage over the women's B width though, so I'm giving up on Asolos. (Leaning toward Patagonia and Salomon which both have a wider toe box.)

I never wear high boots because they tend to bother my ankles however I have extremely loose ankles so wanted the additional support. I just hiked Kilimanjaro and 2 out of 8 in my group had and LOVED their Asolo's so I wanted to try them. The uppers are very uncomfortable for me and I have bunions which seemed to be directly hit by a seam. One hike and my feet were very uncomfortable. I suspect this has to do more with the mechanics and structure of my foot than it does the shoe.

The shoes are good looking, but the good news ends there. The quality seemed more like seconds, which was very disappointing from Zappos. I say this because the sole on the right show seemed faulty and angled inward. Also, Asolo’s design is poor in that the lace loop on the gussetted tongue is badly misplaced versus the lacing hooks. Hard to explain, but lacing the shoe is just awkward. For this price point, look elsewhere for answers.

These do not seem to take the inward slant of the human heel into account. They kind of hang off the foot. Even laced tight with all the lugs engaged there is vertical movement of the heel that causes discomfort. I would not recommend these if you have flat feet or plan on hiking any significant distance.

I wanted these shoes so much, that after I bought nice Mammut shoes I decided to spend the extra money once I found these Asolos in a store After trip to Patagonia I am very disappointed with Asolo. Before a trip I hike at least 100 kilometer in our local mountains to make sure they will fit my feet better. But I have to say - for me they are not comfortable and i felt a lot of pain in my feet My wife has similar Asolo shoes, and in our last day of "W" trekking in Torres del Paine they get broken after only three years of very little use (three trips and really not too much distance covered ) We will not buy Asolo again.

I've used this particular boot for about 7 years, and it's all been stellar up until my last hike. Using my 2nd pair, which had only 14 months of use on them, both toe guards came completely unglued. It was a rough hike through lots of snow and cold temperatures, but I was not expecting such a significant failure. Unfortunately, I have to start over in my search for the perfect hiking boot. I would not trust these again.

I tried on this boot in 9.5 medium width in a store. Good support and high quality. (as it should be for $250, but a bit tight in the forefit. Custom ordered a 9.5 Wide. The things that arrived feel like they had grafted a size 7 toe box onto a 9.5 shoe. Totally unwearable. Moral: Don't buy an Asolo unless you can try on the exact pair you plan to buy. And have narrow feet!

The Asolo Fugitive GTX's boots were very comfortable, however the soles came unglued after very mild use. This indicates use of poor materials or poor workmanship. The rest of the boot is in good shape. Asolo refused to do anything about it.
