Great day hiking boots!
I bought mine two years ago. I have "problem" feet (arch and heel issues). These boots fit well from the start, very little break-in required, and they provided lots of support. I've put many miles on them and they are still holding up well. I use Green "Superfeet" insoles (available at Zappos) to help with my foot issues.

The best boot I ever owned-
I have had my GXT’s for over 5 years. I am a land surveyor and hiking on uneven terrain is what I do for a living. The boots have lasted me this long, but the day has come to buy a new pair of boots. Hello Asolo Fugitive GTX...a new best friend!

Great Boots for Long & Short Hikes -
I recently bought these boots for a 3-Day short backpacking trip in Big Sur. I only wore them for a short walk once a few days before going so they were still new. On the trip they handled perfectly, my feet felt comfortable the whole time. After reading some of these reviews I also got the green Superfeet Insoles. I normally wear a 10 in most shoes, so I ordered a 10. They fit a little big, even with the larger green insoles, however, I'm not sure if I would get a size smaller. I stepped in water once above the ankle and my feet stayed dry. Over all I thought these boots were great, and have since been using them regularly for short day hikes and walks locally. The Zappos service is great, by the way.

Great quality at a great price.
I just recently purchased these Asolo Fugitive GTX hiking boots from Zappos.com. The boots are exactly as advertised, and described. The fit is true to size and width. The boot is very well constructed and is comfortable right out of the box. I have a slightly narrower than average foot and this boot fits all my contours excellently; so be careful if your foot is wider than normal. Shipping was quick and free. Communication was great throughout. The whole experience was very positive, and I will certainly buy from Zappos, and Asolo in the future; and recommend both.

Asolo Fugitive GTX -
Fit perfect right out of the box. Hadn't hiked for a while and screwed up my toes in my old boots (too small now). No time to shop, so picked these up on the way to a week of 70lb Sierra backpacking. The Fugitives were comfortable from mile one to the end! NO BLISTERS or Hot Spots! ALSO, gave excellent support on and off trail and scrambling to 5th class. I'm very impressed. Best hiking/backpacking boots I've owned, including Vasque, La Sportiva, Danner and Montrails. I got them a half size larger so I could wear Superfeet aftermarket insoles and thick hiking socks.

Asolo is the best -
This boot lives up to the high standard and quality Asolo is known for. My first pair, Latitudes, lasted 6 years of hiking and snow sports. These fugitives and my other Asolo trail shoes have lasted longer than any other shoe/boot I've owned. The Fugitive looks good and feels comfortable doing anything. Not as water resistant as listed in many magazines, but a great boot. I will never buy anything but Asolo. I live in these or Chaco’s.

At last!
I was looking for a quality hiking boot with lots of support, and lightweight, and these boots fit the bill perfectly, snug fit (get a half size larger if you wear thick or padded socks) great support, and if you stub your toe on a rock, tree etc. your toes don’t slam the front of the boot and that’s what I needed for backpacking. Style is great (personal opinion) love the green, great traction and virtually no break-in necessary, but put a few miles on em before your first 5+ mile hike, just to be sure.
I hiked during rain and feet never got wet although I didn’t submerge more than half the boot. These boots really lock your feet in and make you feel confident hiking on all kinds of terrain, overall a great boot for hiking, and Zappos.com is the best experience I’ve had with a website in a long time...thank you!

Solid Boot.
There seems to be a bit of confusion as to how these boots are sized, so if anyone considering purchasing these wears Adidas, an Adidas 11 fits my foot like a glove and I got the Asolo’s in a 10 and they fit perfect.

Great Boot -
This is a great boot. Very comfortable. I must say I was very surpirsed at how light they are. Fit runs a little on the small side, so you might want to go a half size larger than you normally would...especially if you will be hiking with thick or multiple socks.

I finally purchased the Asolo Fugitive after several attempts at fitting into other boots that fit wide such as the Keen boots. I had tried out a pair of Keens for a week at home but they just didn't feel like I would have enough room, especially if my foot were to swell. I went to a shoe store and attempted to find a fitting boot; the salesperson measured my foot and told me I would need an E, but not a EE wide boot. I asked which brands and he recommended a boot by Lowe and this boot. They did not, however, carry any wides. So I ordered through Zappos for the second time (my first transaction hadn't been cleared yet) and tried these boots out for about a week before I took them outdoors. They were comfortable, they fit my feet, the style was good, the construction of this boot is excellent. I took it on a few short hikes and had no problem. Then I went on a longer hike, about 3 hours, and developed a blister on my heel from rubbing. I'm not sure if they were laced wrong or if my foot needs a different size, but I let the blister heal and kept off the trails until it was better. I went out for another long journey, this time with moleskin, but this time I got a nasty huge blister. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still not even wearing shoes. But anyway, I'm not sure if it is the style of the heel, the insole of the boot, or what, but that last incident was painful. I love the boots, they seem to be great in every other aspect. I've ordered some dancer's wool and am going to attempt to stuff the heel so that my foot doesn't rub. Another theory is just that I haven't broken the boots in and blisters are to be expected, stay on shorter hikes until they fit right. But I've also heard a boot should fit right out of the box. So, if you think your foot is sliding, beware! Otherwise I am impressed with this boot.

The only problem I had with this boots is that they irritate the front of my ankle if I am not wearing high enough socks.

I've worn these boots on a few hikes now and I'm very happy with them. This past weekend was my first long hike, 16 miles, and they performed great. I might swap the foot beds for something a little more comfortable.

Asolo boots tend to be narrow. Order one size wider. These boots fit great. Needed to replace liner to a gel liner for greater comfort.

Good boot.
This is a nice boot, and when I couldn't find it at any local outfitter's retail shops (out of stock) it was readily available from Zappos. It is a good looking boot, and the fit is nice, if a tad too rigid. The stiffness seems to be by design though. I have owned other Asolo boots and they had a similar feel. I have put about 22 miles on this pair. No blisters. No moisture penetration. Overall I am pleased.

I've had these boots for about 4 months now. I bought them to perform several functions: motocycling, outdoor work, hiking, casual wear.
I've hiked in them several times and each time I've gotten some nasty blisters on my heels. I've come to the conclusion that these boots will never work for strenuous hiking. I think the problem is the Gortex liner which doesn't allow the feet to breathe. Sweat builds up quickly, the feet get damp and consequently begin to blister where there's any friction; in my case the heel. I tried several lacing systems to cinch the heel tighter into the heel cup but to no avail.
For other, less strenuous purposes the boots are quite comfortable; but for their intended purpose, for me, they're an utter failure.

Comfortable pair of shoes with no break-in period. I have been backpacking around Yunnan Province in China without any discomfort. My only gripe is that the traction is horrible on wet surfaces. Perhaps the rubber is too hard?

When hiking, you may as well be on marbles. They're comfortable, but the lack of grip is annoying for a hiking boot.

Most bang for the buck!
Boots fit perfectly for my average size feet (9M). Look great as well. Worn on the rocks around San Juan Island right out of the box. Great traction, support and durability. I'm hooked.

This is my third pair of Asolo boots. The narrow width of the Asolo, is the only boot that fits my foot well. Previous to this boot, I have owned the TPS 535. I thought I would try out something a little different, and with gore-tex. I owned this boot for 18 months before it became unwearable. From the beginning this was the most comfortable boot I have had, lighter, and a faster break-in time than the all-leather boots I usually get. There are a few issues I have with this boot. First, the sole is not a Vibram sole, and it wore out much faster than any boot I have had. After 18 months it is smooth, almost all tread is gone. In addition, it’s soft enough to allow holes from nails to let water in. The Suede leather on this boot does not come waterproofed. It needs a heavy coat, I discovered this winter camping when they were soaked for 4 days. I was not impressed with the gore-tex, and in my opinion, it was not superior to a good coat of sealant on a regular boot, it did eventually start leaking. The toe rand separated from the nearby suede, letting water in. The boot generally wore out along all the seams, becoming cracked and separating, in addition, the rand became cracked. In the end, I would say this is a comfortable boot, but don’t expect it to last for 5 years like my TPS 535s did, with plenty of sole left. I will not buy them again, unless the style changed a bit, I don’t trust them. Bottom line, I just purchased a pair of TPS 535s and I look forward to the break in process.

I am writing this review to inform my fellow hikers of a little uncommon piece of knowledge that I wish I had known before buying the ASOLIO Fugitive boots. You must realize that the boots are designed to fail within about five years. By fail I mean delaminate. Let me explain. Last week I was two miles from my car near Sedona when the soles of both shoes my ASOLO boots began to disconnect. I toppled head first when a sole caught a rock on the trail. I landed on my hands and scraped my right palm. This is when I noticed the soles were coming apart! After about a quarter of a mile the right sole became so detached that I was force to remove it and walk in my sock. After another half mile the other left foot sole became too loose to walk on. At this point I was forced to hobble in my socks back to my car. The pain of this ordeal was quite intense. I had these boots about four years and had used them about 10 times for hiking. This should not have happened and I feel it is unacceptable. I requested a refund or replacement but was told that this often happens and to go find a cobbler by their phone contact. What? This is common! I cannot believe that a pair of boots so highly recommended is doomed to failure. The only companies I found that provide an acceptable guarantee were Cabelas and LLBean (both these companies claim to guarantees their boots for life under normal wear and tear). Having your boots fall off your feet is not normal.

This is a really sturdy shoe, well made and fairly comfortable although somewhat stiff. The main drawback is that the soles are EXTREMELY SLIPPERY on wet rocks and wet roots. I\'ve almost fallen everytime there is any moisture on smooth surfaces but they are great on all other surfacees and are nicely waterproofed.

So all the boots and shoes I order are size 10 1/2 wide or even EE and fit great, however Asolo builds this boot just a little bit too tight. So the day these came I right away ordered the next size up (had been waiting for some time for this model to come back in stock!) Just got the size 11 10 min ago and they are just right! Good thing returns are not complicated.
