Shoe laces wear out and break almost immediately. Leather uppers look like plastic. I bought these to replace another pair of rockport walking shoes that separated uppers from the sole in little over a year. A mistake. I won't buy rockport again.

I have been wearing Rockport Shoes exclusively for the past 25 years at the recommendation of my Neurologist. Have always loved them and enjoyed walking in them. That is until the last few years. They are not made the way they were any longer. I do not know who they are made by, whether human or computer. I just bought a pair of the northfield to replace an old pair that finally wore out. When I tried them on they were a little stiff, which I thought was unusual for a rockport shoe. After trying them in the house and walking with them in the house for close to 2 weeks, it is like walking on an a piece of masonite, or some such material which is actually on the bottom inside the shoe. The soles are as stiff as a bo and it actually hurts to walk in them. They are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn and will call to return them tomorrow. I will now have to look for another manufacturer of shoes that actually has B (N) width. Seems rockport is phasing them out.

Bought these for years as very comfortable. HOWEVER, I've got to stop as IF you're lucky, the soles will last maybe 5 months then they are ridiculously worn down and that's only wearing them daily to/from an office. Shame Rockport does not improve the sole life. Zappos is great.

The shoe was great initially, but I walk A LOT and the sole just didn't last. After about 4 months the sole had worn down to the point that the tread was gone. I've had pair of Dr. Martins now for 13 yrs and the sole is nowhere near worn out. Such a shame, these shoes felt great and comfortable as hell for the first few months.

Very stiff; laces are crappy, soles are not as wide as the shoes (4E). I've been wearing these for over a month, they are still very stiff and the laces are starting to come apart where they tie. I wear extra wide but these 4E's still feel tight. Also the sole is not as wide as the shoe. Scuff easily.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Shame Rockport won't address the sole issue as they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. So much so that I'm on about my 8th pair! But I have to leave Rockport. The durability of the sole is horrendous! If worn indoors for work, on carpet then outside the sole will wear down at least 1/2 inch in about 6 months. Never seen anything like it and I hope Zappos gets this to Rockport. If you google the shoe and "sole problems" you will find the same comments. All Rickport need do is put their Margin sole on the Northfield, problem solved. Zappos is fantastic, no reflection on them!

I've been wearing Rockport shoes for close to 30 years. I the middle of March of this year I bought a pair of Rockport waterproof Northport shoes model # K70011 size 9, medium in black. Very comfortable shoe, I put them into rotation with a few other pairs of shoes (all from Rockport) that I wear to work 5 days a week. I probably wore these Northport shoes once a week. I am shocked by how quickly they wore down and lost their comfortable feeling. Some of my other Rockport shoes have outlasted their soles, and I bring them to my local shoemaker who puts new soles and the shoes are like new all over again. However, these Northport shoes are not worth repairing as they feel like they are beyond salvation. Very disappointed for the first time in your product. I hope this is not a sign of the future with your fine company. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone,

These are great looking shoes. They run on the narrow side. Very comfortable and durable. I would buy 5 pair if the soles weren't absolute garbage. You will be lucky if the soles last 1 year. The heels simply wear too easily. If they werent made of rubber, you could replace them but you cant. I owned 1 pair and wore them a lot. So I purchased 2 pair the next time, thinking they would last longer if I rotated them around. Nope. I would not buy these again.

Heavy and uncomfortable. Stiff, clunky feel. Definitely not up to the Rockport standard that I'd expect. I got a heel blister the first time I walked in them.

I have had these shoes for less than a year and they are already ruined. I work in an office environment every day. I do not wear the shoes in a construction site or walk miles in them every day. Despite this, the soles are worn out and the shoes are unwearable. It is shame because they are very comfortable. I would not recommend these shoes.

I ordered this for my husband on 5/25/16 and received them a few days later. He has only had these shoes for about 3 weeks and the heel is already worn side ways. I don't feel they should be worn that badly in just three weeks when they cost as much as they do.

I have owned probably 5 pairs of Northfields over the past ten years. The most comfortable work-appropriate shoe I ever bought. After choosing another Rockport that was not comfortable at all I purchased another pair of Northfields. Not at all comfortable, no arch support, no cushioning, it hurts to wear them. Feels like I am walking directly on the ground and that is with the 1/2 inch thick soles. Does not seem like the same product at all.

Dangerous, slippery soles that should never have been put on a waterproof shoe and should never be sold. Please take these off the market. Why would you make a waterproof shoe with this sole? Unfortunately this is a very comfortable inexpensive shoe. Companies no longer do R&D other than how cheap can we make it and how can we exploit the company name to make more money. I would imagine if anyone did any amount of testing on these shoes they would have not made it out on the streets. I slipped a little one day and thought it was just a normal thing for a rainy day but then last week I slipped and few and broke my elbow and foot. Beware, these are very dangerous. Foam soles should be outlawed especially for "waterproof" shoes. Good luck.

I am very disappointed in this shoe. I have bought Rockports for years and they were my favorite shoe brand. Up until recently, every pair I have purchased was super comfortable from the first day. On this shoe, the leather is very stiff and the shoe lacks the cushioning that was a hallmark of Rockport for decades. They hurt my feet when walking or standing for long periods. If Rockport does not return to its roots of making comfortable shoes, they will lose a lot of long time customers like me.

A decade ago, I bought my first Rockport sport shoe in a medium width at a store. Fit just fine. Several years ago I bought another pair in the same style, and found it wider than the previous "medium" to the point I bought inserts to help it fit. My most recent pair is even wider, and does not fit even with inserts and thick socks. I have returned the pair to exchange for a narrower width. We shall see.

I have been a customer for more than 25 years. I have loved my Rockports for their comfort and durability. I bought two pairs, Northfield and old-reliable ProWalker. My feet hurt after wearing them. I have had to take them off underneath my desk during the day because the shoes are too tight and the leather is too rigid. I have tried stretching the shoes to no avail. There must be a breakdown in quality assurance or quality control somewhere in Rockport's production process. Unbelievable. Then, I was talking to a friend about my disappointment, and he had the same experience. He had to go to another shoe store to buy new shoes.

Been wearing these for eight years and sad to say the quality diminishes with each pair I buy. The heels wear out in two months, the soles feel like cardboard, and the uppers never "break in", and conform to the foot that's wearing them. At one time (when they made in Rockport Ma) a new pair of these was like walking on air. I won't be buying them again.

I purchased these Northfield . The souls leave black marks on the floors and I notice the carpeted area now have a black path where I walk in my office. This did not happen when the were new out of the box. I noticed this about a month of wear. Very disappointing. I thought that this issue was resolved 30 year ago?

I was sorely disappointed with these shoes. The sole ground down very fast. In less than a month I cannot walk in these shoes without discomfort, pain and having them roll to the sides of my feet. These shoes look nice, and felt fine when first received, but in very short order I could not wear and walk in them due to the soles grinding down lopsidedly. The images of the product are deceiving, they look like they are fairly heavy duty, durable construction but even first impression left me thinking they are too lightweight and not as durable as hoped for. And the shoes strings included are so short that if you are used to double knotting your shoe laces when you lace-up shoes they are too short to easily do so. They were comfortable enough for the first couple of weeks but due to the soles/heels grinding down too fast they will only be wearable and usable until I buy another pair of shoes to replace them.
I'd also recommend:
I've had shoes from Rockport, Sketchers, New Balance, Reebok, and Nike that I've been satisfied with for a while, but I've also had ones from both of them that wore out too fast or didn't fit properly..

These shoes look great, they're comfortable enough for all day wear, but the soles wear quickly and unevenly. I'm on my second pair and the soles on both have worn out within six months. Yes, the soft sole material may be comfortable, but they wear way too easily.
