Outstanding shoe for comfort bar none. Owned about 8 pairs of the Northfield. HOWEVER - Rockport MUST change the sole ONLY. It literally wears out badly in 10-12 months!

rockpot northfield now is different then 10 years ago. My last shoes were bought in 2008 and lasted until 2014 I bought new pairs and they look different. the sole is made of diferent material it looks bad it slips is wet surface and wears out in 8 months! It is comfortable but it is not like the rockport people remember. The new shoes are not good

This shoe fit well on my very wide feet. But... the color represented online is not close the color in real life\light. When I showed my wife she commented on the resemblance to that which exits the south bound end of a north bound dog. Very very unappealing. If I had seen these shoes on a shelf in a store I would not have even looked for my size.

Narrow in the ball of the foot and the heel cup was too shallow.

I wanted to like these. They fit pretty well with a nice wide toe box. But the shiny plastic looking leather was a fatal flaw. Returned.

I bought the dark brown shoe because I was unable to find a wide shoe in my size in brown anywhere. The size is perfect, maybe even a little roomy. The style would've been ok too, but the shoe looks and feel as if it is made of plastic, not leather. There is no variation in the brown (and the brown color is not attractive). The shoe makes a noise with every step and I am not sure if it is the bottom/sole of the shoe or the bending on top below the toes. The 2 star review is for size only.

Seems overall quality has gone down last few years. Too bad because we liked this brand.

I bought two pair of these shoes 8 years ago. Couldn't be happier. They lasted 8 years! I just bought two more pair sight unseen direct from the manufacturer online. Same model number same colors same everything. I was SO excited opening the box, but when I took out the new shoes I BUMMED... they're not good leather dress shoes, the leather is very plasticy. And the new ones weigh 3 1/2 oz less than the old ones. They just don't make them like they used to. Fit well and feel well but they don't look good and are made of some plasticy leather instead of good dress shoe leather like the old ones. They definitely do fit well and feel well but I hate the new leather.

The right shoe matches the color on the webpage, and the piece of leather that holds the laces on the left matches the right shoe however, the leather that covers the toe on the left shoe is completely different, it is dark red - gives my young daughter a good laugh every time I put them on. I was hesitant about ordering shoes online, and doubt I will be ordering online from them again.

I purchased a pair in June of last year and I have to agree with a previous reviewer about not having a durable sole. I've never had a pair of shoes wear out so fast (they became a safety hazard at about 9 months) - they provide no traction at all and my feet easily slip out from under me even walking on painted stripes if the surface is at all wet. BUT the shoes are very comfortable - just don't expect them to to last.

These shoes are very comfortable and I like the fact that they are water proof. I walk 22 NYC blocks to from work, they feel lightweight and great when it's raining because my feet stay dry BUT they are EXTREMELY slippery, iv slipped more times with these shoes than I think I ever did in all my life, just today while walking on Park Ace I almost did a split when I stepped on a section of pavement that was smooth. I honestly think that one of these days I'm going to bust my ass wearing them!

Brought this shoe for my husband . I was very disappointed when we opens the box bc the shoe is not the same color as the image . We choose the dark brown , they are certainly dark brown but not the way they advertise the color in the image . Overall they are light weight and waterproof ... I give it a two star

I bought these as every day work shoes and I walk a lot to and from the office and around town on work days. I bought these thinking they'd be good walking shoes and hold up to the miles on pavement. They were pretty uncomfortable at first, but broke in well. Unfortunately, the soles just did not hold up. In under a year they've worn completely smooth and thin and I have to replace them because they slip on wet surfaces as if they were on ice. I don't think they held up as well as they should have.

I tend to walk 3-5 miles each day for work, regardless of weather, primarily on concrete sidewalk. These shoes were advertised as being waterproof, comfortable, durable and good for walking. They are most certainly not durable. The soles on the first pair were worn down after less than a year. The heel was worn down to less than half the original thickness. The tread was virtually gone. Holes appeared, opening up what seemed to be air pockets. I give credit to Zappos for quickly sending out a replacement pair, without having to return the defective pair. However, after about 6 months, the sole on the replacement pair is likewise worn down. Now on rainy days, I tend to slip because there is no grip. I give the shoes two stars, because they are comfortable, waterproof and look decent. The uppers are durable, but the sole is simply terrible.

I've always been a big fan of Rockport shoes but I won't be purchasing again. The laces had to be replaced within two months and the soles degrade so quickly that you slip on wet smooth cement. If they could improve the soles and the laces, I'd consider purchasing again.

Wore these shoes for two overseas assignments, and soles wore so quick as to develop a hole at end of second assignment. Also, soles are very slick when wet.

I have to echo what some of the other people have said about these shoes. I do a fair amount of walking, about 3-5 miles a day. The soles of these shoes just aren't made for that kind of use. It only took a few weeks to wear the tread off the bottom, and 3 months to wear a hole into the bottom of the right shoe (the right shoe is pretty worn). This is by far the shortest life I've ever gotten out of a walking shoe. With that said, they otherwise fit well and were very comfortable, and don't look out of place when I wore them to the office. If you don't do a lot of walking they may not be a bad shoe to wear all day. However, they just don't hold up well if you use them for what they are intended for.

These shoes are alot different than I remember them. They are less 'Oxford' and more utility in appearance. The most obvious change is the level of comfort, they are much less than they were 5-8 yrs ago.

The shoe itself looks great. But, does not offer an support and I dint see these lasting more then a year and the sides were very thin. They feel very heavy when walking and my flat feet felt every part of the ground I walked over. I really wanted these to work for me, unfortunately for me this was not the case.

I purchased this shoe about six months ago and like the extra wide option as they fit very well. However, the heel of the shoes have worn prematurely.

This shoe was to be a replacement for a Northfield purchased about five years ago. The shoe that arrived was not of the fine quality material of the original design. 1. Insole not of good quality or cushioning. 2. Laces of inferior quality. 3. Outer shoe covering slick and hard, not the suede of previous model. 4. Sole and heel tread thicker and harder.
