I had a pair of these shoes before but in a different color. Very comfy. However the brown is actually more 'army green' than brown. Which is why I gave it a 1 star on Style

I have used these for about 2 weeks and they're okay, a little heavier than they used to be and the brown color is much lighter than the internet picture indicates.

The heel of these shoes are much wider than other shoes of a simmilar style. This makes them slip on every step unless you have a very wide heel. There is also no padding on the heel, so when it slips, it digs in and rips a hole in your foot. Very uncomfortable. They look good though!

I don't think I'd buy this particular shoe again; in the image it appears to be a dress shoe with some extra tread for weather however when worn it looks more like a boot. It tries to appear more like a shoe by having a low-cut heel but that ends up working against it too as the heel rubs hard against the tendon (I had to take a break from wearing this shoe while my heel recovered). In the end I find I don't wear this shoe all that often because of the feel and it's too boot-ish to be worth the trade of comfort for style. As for it's ability to handle water - no problems there, wearing in rain and shallow puddles isn't a problem. I ended up wearing a substantially less expensive High top waxed canvas with high rubber midsole to protect from puddles (Palladium Pampa Hi).

After spending most of the last 30 years wearing one, and only one brand of casual shoe (rhymes with Dom McDan, whose retail purveyor will probably go bankrupt before year's end), I decided to branch out with these Rockport. I ordered the size I've always ordered, a 11.5 EEEE, and although they came in true to width, there was almost a full inch of space in front of my big toe. I exchanged them for a 10.5 (a size I haven't worn since college), and they were much better. Stylish and good-looking, they fit reasonable well. Although they don't have the cushioning my old Dom McDans always had, and they wear a little stiff out of the box, I'm sure they'll break in well. Zappos has an excellent exchange process, btw.

I wear these shoes everyday to work, and take my noon walk in them. They are very comfortable, but in 6 months time, they are totally shot and have to throw them out. The soles (especially the heel and center portion) just don't last very long. Quite disappointed in that aspect.

The shoes look great, are well made with quality materials and should last for a long time. They fit well and even with the solid construction are light to wear. After a week of wearing them for work they are still cutting into my ankles on the outside of each foot. It seems the top edge is very stiff, sharp and being unpadded continues to dig into each ankle to the point that I have stopped wearing them and purchased a replacement pair of a different brand. I would suggest that when trying new brands or styles of shoes that you try them at a brick and mortar store and then make your decision where to buy them from.

I've worn this shoe for years because it's the only affordable oxford I can find in a narrow (B) width that isn't really ugly. It's a good shoe for a while and even reasonably waterproof, but the sole wears very quickly and then has poor traction in wet or icy conditions. Obviously not worth repairing, because the overall quality is pretty marginal. Lately the inner lining of the heel has begun to wear out also. Check your pair carefully for fit and defects, especially around the heel. Thankfully Zappos does free exchanges.

They fit fine but have no style. They look nice online but appear cheap in person. They're not cheaply made, they just appear that way.

i really like the leather and the look. clearly much better than the shoes i've had in the past. however, after a few weeks of owning them, my feet haven't really felt at home in them. I've read reviews about these being either very comfortable or too uncomfortable. I expect any shoe, really, to be uncomfortable for quite some time before it's fully broken in. these shoes were really interesting, in that the discomfort changed in stages. first, it felt too tight around the ball of each foot and now the middle of my foot feels constricted, the while my heel still seems to pop out maybe a quarter of an inch with each step. maybe it's just my feet, that these did not fit quite while, but i'll keep wearing them.

This is a rigid shoe. As a 4E it was still snug in the arch area but had plenty of space in the heel. The ankle color was thin and did not feel like it would hold up to a lot of walking. The sole has ridges but felt too smooth to have traction on a wet surface. The polish on the leather was very nice and the laces were of good quality.

I purchased the shoes for my son. We needed some waterproofing is for an upcoming trip. We will be doing a lot of walking so comfort was important. I had my son wear them around the house for an afternoon, he couldn't wait to get them off of his feet. They look great but as soon my son put them on he said they were the most uncomfortable shoes he's never worn. I then passed them on to my husband who wears the same size. My husband said pretty much the same thing. Neither of them have trouble finding shoes or are particularly fussy but these shoes were stiff and hurt their feet.

For the most part I like the shoes but I think I was sent an outdated pair. In the video that talked about them, the person showed off the cool pump in the innersole that is supposed to pump air throughout the shoe...mine did not have them. Also, the shoes are loose around the back of the ankles. They are nice, but I expected better for what I paid.

Pros: 1. Great looking shoes with a nice thick sole. 2. Seemingly comfortable insole -- if I didn't wear custom insoles, the included one would be great. Cons: 1. These things are snug, especially if you use custom orthotic inserts (for fallen arches). 2. Very stiff 3. Rockport doesn't make a wide shoe the same way they used to. True they are wider than normal, but not as roomy as their wide shoes used to be. I hate to say it, but overall I feel that Rockport shoes just aren't as good as they were even as little as 2-3 years ago. I don't know if the manufacturing process changed, if it varies by factory, or what, but the quality control and sizing just isn't as good as it used to be.

These shoes are built well however the shoelaces started showing signs of wear almost immediately and the one shoelace broke after a little of a month of light usage.

I've only had the Northfields for a week so it's a little early to be asking a review. But my first impression is that they are roomier than the Rockport Margin that I have been wearing for the past few years. I have been wearing thicker socks to compensate and may have to add an insole so I don't slip around in the shoe and wear it it from the inside.

I have worn these Rockport Northfields for about three weeks and have seen noticeable wear on the heels. I walk a lot at work on hard floors but the amount of wear already tells me that I won't have these shoes that long.

While the quality of these shoes is marginal, they are the best waterproof shoes for this price. I have worn Rockports for nearly 20 years and have watched the quality get worse each time a new company buys them. In fact there have been so many that I have lost track. Zappos on the other hand is top quality customer service. I wish every company I dealt with was this good.

I have been buying these shoes for many years, size 9 XW. However on my order on Aug 26th I found that the shoes are now smaller. A full ¼" shorter and narrower. I am not sure if this is an anomaly, but I had ordered two pairs and both are small.

Rockport lost there way over the last way over the last 10 years but since they were bought by Adidas the quality has returned. The tread could be deeper. If you walk most of the time it wears out the sole. The Boat Builder Model has a great sole but does not come in black!

First regarding zappos: Excellent experience. Zappos will be my first stop when looking for shoes online. Regarding the shoes: I am a big fella at 6-0 / 240 lb. I do media event coverage. Events may last 12 hours or more and require a lot of walking, a little jogging at times, kneeling, climbing and hours of standing. Comfortable and supportive shoes are a requirement. I purchased the Rockport Main Route Northfield based upon the reviews. They looked like a winner according to customer comments and ratings. The are well constructed, look very nice and are light on the feet. I equipped them with Dr. Scholes Work insoles and wore them for a week indoors on the carpet to try to give them a proper evaluation before "breaking the seal" and wearing them in the real world. The comfortably passed this phase. However, halfway through my first event wearing them, my feet were screaming. I was constantly having to shift weight from foot to foot while standing in place. There was no specific place in the shoe that hurt either foot, it was overall fatigue in both feet. I hoped it was just that the shoes needed broken in. I wore the shoes in less rigorous situation the next couple of weeks with no problems, changing to a Dr. Scholes athletic insole with a more rigid arch support. The next event, I had to change out of the shoes half way through the event again. So, based upon my experience, these shoes look nice and feel fine in light to moderately demanding situations. But in very demanding situations, the just don't lend the support I need. I will keep the shoes for those times that I can comfortably wear them. But I will look for other event coverage shoes. I have just ordered the Dr. Martens Tevin. I hope they work out better.

Overall, I like the shoes and hope the only problem will go away with time. The fit is good but a seam around the opening causes chafing at the outer anklebone of both feet. I'm hopeful that this one complaint will subside as they "wear-in" in a few weeks. In the interim, I'm wearing adhesive pads at the site.

Overall this shoe below Rockport's customary standards. It runs a bit narrow so my orthotic insert doesn't fit properly. The sole, and particularly the heel are wearing exceptionally quickly, showing significant wear after only 20 miles or so of walking. The heel cup is thin but very stiff, causing chafing. The uppers appear as if they will be impossible to clean.
