My last pair of oiled professionals lasted nearly 5 years. I was a little concerned reading here about how Dansko quality was slipping, but I ordered a replacement pair anyway. They arrived the next day and looked and fit just like my old pair. But, within a couple weeks they started SQUEAKING to the point where I was too embarrassed to wear them. Zappos was very generous and sent me a replacement pair, but despite the new pair being the same size, they were too big! I was afraid I'd break my ankle wearing them, so I sent them back. Now I'm stuck with the squeaky pair collecting dust in the closet. I'm sure if I call Zappos they'd take them back. I'm so disappointed in Dansko.

It does take a long time to wear out Danskos. My favorite black professionals started to really show the wear and tear so I went with the oiled version. This pair was easier to break in and I immediately could wear them around town. I'm a 5 1/2 so I'm happy that the fit was pretty much perfect.
These are great for the weekends but I just don't feel professional enough wearing them to work. That's my issue.

Ankle sprains -
I would like to say that I love this shoe. My back problems have almost disappeared and I can walk for miles and never have sore feet. Also, I've had these shoes for almost a year, worn them every day and they look brand new! One big problem: I have six ankle sprains since I started wearing these shoes. The last one was particularly severe. My heart is breaking, but I may have to give these shoes up because I cannot risk another sprain. I have never found another pair of shoes that are so durable, so comfortable, and look so good.
