Not your mother's Dansko (what a shame)- I am a long time Dansko owner and lover and I recently purchased a new pair of the Professionals (oiled) to replace a 6 year old pair that I had worn out. I have no idea what they have done but WOWZER, these things are snug fitting and border line "tight" across the arch. I do have to mention that I have a high arch but I have NEVER had an issue with Dansko's not being comfortable...these new shoes are taking some breaking in...I ranked the look as a 3 because they are not the most stylish looking shoe (but that is not the reason why most people purchase Dansko's in the first place). The support is excellent!! The quality/construction of the shoe is great (but snug across the top). I just can't get over the difference in the fit. I have had 7 pairs of these shoes in total and never once were any of the pairs this snug. Buyer beware...

Nice looking professional clog - This is a very comfortable shoe - will be great for work and to wear out on the town. I love the look of the brown oil finish - it cleans up nicely. Pretty comfortable too although I haven't yet worn them for a full shift on my feet. I have high hopes though.

I've been wearing clogs since the 60's. Used to order size 39 when I was younger, then size 40. Ordered and returned 40 this time. Then ordered a 41. And they're still a little small: the arch is a little short and toes touch. Plus they are still a little tight across the arch, even after a month's wear.

Fabulous - Ordered up a size and glad I did. Usually wear a 10.5 which chart recommended ordering a 44. I went up to a 45 and they are perfect. They are a little tight across the top of my foot but I have only worn for 3-4 hours. Cute shoes with jeans so I'll be back for another pair in another color.

A good shoe - I bought these at the recommendation of my podiatrist. Although I admit they seemed uncomfortable at first, I quickly became used to the shape. The first day I wore them was the first day my foot didn't give me intense pain by the end of the work day. I don't like how much scuff marks show up on them though. A flat leather would have been a better choice.

Comfortable, but heavy - I think that the footbed in this shoe is excellent and it is totally supportive when standing. However, I do find it can be a bit heavy after awhile. As these are hand-stitched, each pair is different so it may take a few different pairs to get the right fit... not a bad thing at all, just an FYI. I have another pair of Dansko that are so comfortable. Definitely worth the price.

Great For Feet & Back, But Knees Beware! I absolutely love these! After working a trade show and walking many miles through the city of Chicago, my back and feet were terrific! I got the Oiled Brown, which is a classic staple, goes with everything. My only con to these was that I noticed when I wear these and I am doing a lot of walking and or standing, my knee gets aggravated. After looking into this, apparently any type of clog is not for those with knee injuries... so not Dansko's fault, but I thought I would mention it in case others run into this. As usual, Zappos got these to me in record time, which is one of the many reasons I love to do biz with Zappos!!! The fit is wonderful (although it is a weird feeling getting used to the heel slip!) and they break in extremely quickly. I would definitely recommend!

Zappos service is great!! These shoes have been raved about by my co-workers for several months. I thought that I would finally invest in a good pair of shoes. The shoes have been ok but nothing as magical as I had heard. It was very difficult to know what size to order. I ordered my normal size but had to return twice due to them being too small. I was very impressed with Zappos though. They sent and returned the shoes for free and they upgraded the shipping to next day each time. I placed one order on a Thursday night at 10:00 pm and received my shoes the next day at 2:30 pm!! I was amazed! I don't know how they do it but it's impressive.

Somehow inconsistent - Man, I just don't understand these shoes. I wear them at work, and have multiple pairs so I can clean one pair while wearing another. I used to buy the narrow sizes in men's, but those appear to be discontinued. Nevertheless, every single pair seems to fir a little different. Not much, but enough to be noticeable. The last pair wasn't the narrow size, but it feels the tightest across my foot. Some other pairs have seemed a bit shorter, on one foot or the other. They are still the best fitting work shoe I've found, and I will continue to buy them. I just don't understand how the same size ordered feels different every time.

Dansko Comfort & Quality - Be Careful Of Size - As with all Danskos, these are comfortable… once you break them in and once you get the correct size. Because of the rigid back, these shoes seem to be cut narrowly. You need to buy at least one size up from your "regular" size… then break them in and then they're very good.

Dansko - Great shoes, takes a while to break in, but worth it, especially if standing all day (i.e. in the hospital).

Not for the wide foot! My foot is average (C) width, yet I find these to be quite tight across the top of the foot. They also appear very narrow to the eye. However, they are comfortable on the feet and arch and look nice with jeans and slacks.

Good Performer - I went to clogs because of chronic problems with heel spurs + calcification (Haglund's Deformity) on both feet in order to reduce pressure on the Achilles, particularly at the insertion point. For that they have worked wonderfully. They take a few days of wear to break in and feel comfortable, and then they're quite comfortable. With the closed heel (I also have the Karl model open heel); there is enough stability to stand all day and to walk a considerable distance. They aren't "walking shoes" in terms of comfort, but for my chronic foot problems, they are a wonderful find. I have broad feet and over pronation and generally wear an 11 to leave a bit of room at the heel, but in both the Dansko Professional and the Karl, the predicted 44 was too short; the 45 is perfect for my foot.
I'd also recommend:
Sanita makes similar clogs at similar prices. They run a bit wider naturally and I wear 44 in them.

Foot and Back Pain Relief - Husband is a chef and was complaining of foot and lower-back pain. As a devoted Dansko fan, I bought him the Dansko Professional to wear in the kitchen. He was skeptical but gave the shoes a try. Out of the box, he said they looked like skis (he wears a 13, bought a 47) but tried them on. In spite of his complaints, he is still wearing the shoes, the lip across the top of the foot is loosening, and he has no more foot and lower-back pain. Thanks Zappos for speedy service.

Dansko Professional - This shoe was very tight going on and felt almost too small. After wearing for two full days they have stretched out a bit. They slip on easier but still are a bit tight across the top of my foot. This shoe is very fitted and actually offers better support than what I am used to- I would probably purchase another pair in the future.

So comfortable - I am not a medical professional, teacher or chef and I love these. I work in an office and have been suffering from plantar fasciitis and generally sore feet and these have been a god send. I wish they were more attractive and less clunky but I guess a good stable shoe has to be solid. I'd give it 5 stars, except for the looks of them. I wear a woman’s 12 and ordered the Men’s 43 (woman’s goes only to 42) and they fit great.

Love the support of the shoes. The only drawback is that it cuts across the arch of my foot and sometimes walking for a period of time can be painful in that spot.

The most comfortable shoe you could find - I've noticed that I need a size larger than what is quoted as being a size 12. I also wear a wide, so I needed to buy mens shoes. They may not be the sexiest shoes (by any stretch of the imagination) but they sure do feel great. They give a lot of arch support and are just super comfy! This is my second pair of Dansko's and I am about to purchase another pair. I need to return the ones from Zappos due to going up too much in size...

Solved my foot woes, no doubt. I have no doubt about the fact that this shoe has relieved me of years of searching for foot relief. They're not the *perfect* shoe, but since my health comes before my style and comfort, I consider them to be excellent. When I first put them on, I hated how they felt. Very stiff, pushing up against my arch and too high a heel for my liking. But having read all the other great reviews on them here, I decided to stick with them for a while. Two weeks later, I have very much gotten used to them and I never ever feel the pain I used to have with other shoes. I like that I can slip them on and off quickly. I also like that they are a nice looking shoe. The high heel (for a man's shoe) and stiff feel are things I am still getting used to, but as stated above, I'll take health over fashion any day.

European sizing - The sizing is a little different, as they are based on European sizes (no half sizes). Go towards the larger size. I had to have mine stretched! Once the sizing issue is handled, they are truly comfy shoes.

A different experience - I work as a bartender and I need a comfortable/durable pair of shoes. Based upon coworker recommendations and reviews at Zappos, I thought I would give them a try even though I do not enjoy their looks. My review is mixed. I think they are okay. They are fairly comfortable, although not at first. It took me quite a while to adjust to the amount of lift they have. I am not used to noticing a height difference in a men’s shoe, but these are quite high.

Comfortable, but mine cracked - These are very comfortable with excellent support. However after a little more than a year, the sole literally cracked in half. Being a chef, and bending over to get in and out of the oven was the apparent reason. I was very disappointed when the Dansko people said after having them "that long" that can happen. I can't pay that much for a shoe that only lasts one year before falling apart. So don't bend over too much while wearing them, they could crack in half!!

I have PF and was excited to order these but oh so sad when they didn't fit correctly. They are the correct size as the toe area and width feel perfect but the heel area is way to large and they slide right off. Just by the way the rest of the shoe feels, I know that if I ordered the next size down to get the heel to fit, they would crush my toes - will have to look for another clog but I had high hopes due to other reviews on Dansko raving about their arch support.

Recommended by friends to help ease my heel pain. I am a true size 9 who fluctuates between M and W widths, depending. I find I'm in-between sizes with Dansko. The heel rubbed in size 39 and swam in size 40. I tried a wide with and it was way too wide. I could wear thicker socks with the size 40 regulars I've been evaluating, but then it bothers my high instep. (Dansko makes the 'Phoebe' for those with a high instep.) One of the brown clogs was darker and less-scuffed at the big toe than the other. These will scuff up quickly, so be prepared for this and be careful going up concrete steps! I was going for the closed back heel due to climate, planning to only wear them with long slacks/jeans. Because of the heel movement I'm not sure they work with any of my jeans due to 'catching' as I walk; how frustrating. Be aware that Dansko clogs are very heavy and take some getting used to. No issues with squeaking here. Although I am impressed with the workmanship I am returning and not re-ordering after careful consideration. (Overall rating is a 3 for this particular model and the espresso color.)
