This is a super winter snow boot. It is big, but if you're looking for the hardiest, warmest, most comfortable boot for extreme temps, this is it. It is NOT a boot for just running errands when it's flurrying out. Or commuting into a city while looking stylish in a popular brand. It's serious footwear. I ended up returning because it was more boot than I was looking for, but I might reconsider at some point if I get into winter hiking, ice fishing, or dog sledding. Unlikely. But great boots for the right person!

On the advise of other reviewers, I ordered an 8.5 shoe size, when I would normally have ordered a 9 shoe size. The fit is perfect! These boots will last me a life time and will be perfect for when the snow comes. Thanks Zappos!

I love these boots! I live in Minnesota and use these primarily when walking the dog and when attending outdoor winter events. They keep my feet toasty warm, and I usually have cold feet. They do seem a tad large, maybe half a size, but work well with cozy socks. Surprisingly comfortable too, albeit a bit clunky; I typically walk the dog for 2-3 miles and even those these boots probably weren’t made for walking (haha), they don’t tire my legs out or make my feet feel sore.

It was when I wear standing North of the Arctic Circle, watching the Northern Lights, when I realized what an awesome purchase these boots really were. My husband and I bought matching boots (insert "aww" here, if you'd like) and we both LOVE these boots. Layering with wool socks, and a good pair of regular socks underneath.. you're feet will be able to withstand and protect you from temperatures you didn't even realize they could stand. This is the type of boot that will literally "knock your socks off" with the beautiful arch support hidden in the middle, and the warmth of the layers this very boot provides. In these boots we went: Reindeer sledding. Dog Sledding. Northern Lights Hunting. Ice Fishing. Hiking the Fjords, and so much more. Please, do yourself a favor and buy these boots already. I promise you will NOT regret it.

These are the real deal. I need something seriously warm and waterproof to wear for outdoor activities in northern Finland (that's the Arctic Circle, people!) so the -40 temp rating is an absolute necessity for me. I wore these around the house with the idea that I would need to break them in over a period of weeks in order to be able to travel comfortably in them. However, these are not stiff like other serious snow boots so I won't need a long break-in period. The thick sole actually flexes normally. I have wide feet and these are wide enough. They don't slip off my heels so although they look big due to the hearty materials and insulation, they are true to size. These are as warm as advertised. The best part is they are easy to get in and out of and easy to lace. I think they look cute and classic in an extra from the movie Fargo way, but this is definitely a heavy snowboot, not a fashion look. Sorel makes lower-profile and more feminine duck-style boots and if you look at them side by side you can tell these have a much chunkier profile. These might be overkill for this mild NYC winter but they're going to be perfect for Finland. the grey is really nice and the price is fair for such a durable-seeming boot.

I wear a size 9 in almost all of my shoes, on a rare occasion an 8.5. I needed a size 8 in this boot. Overall I am very happy with the look, fit and comfort of the boot. I can't wait to test them out this winter!

Just received these boots today and I am in love! They are very warm and very comfortable. They do run big. I normally wear a 8.5 shoe, I ended up ordering a size 8 and they feel a little big. especially in the heel. Plenty of room for a nice thick pair of winter socks.

These were received in 2 days! However, I have very thick calves, and the boot wasn't comfortable so I had to return them.

I first saw these boots in a fashion magazine and the owner talked about how fashionable they were. Sorel was a brand with which I was not familiar - so I went online to Zappos and found them on sale. The boot is awesome. Not sure I would call it fashionable - but I'm middle aged and have probably different fashion standards. I love the boot though and will have it for easily another 30 years. It is very well made, totally waterproof and the best thing about it is the inner "bootie" that comes out. There is no zipper but the boots are very easy to put on and take off. They are warm - I highly recommend them. They were a tiny bit bigger than I thought, but I have heavy socks and they will fit inside easily. Sorel rocks the house - as does Zappos!

Love these boots! Great for Michigan winters! Use for walking our dog, shoveling etc. I'm a size 5 or 6...5 was too small. The 6 fits wonderfully with just the right amount of room for thick or thinner socks. Love the black and stone color!

Amazing boots! After 2.5 hours of snow-hiking, my feet were still warm, dry, and comfortable. I'm usually a size 7 - had to send those back and get the 6, which fit perfectly once worn-in.

I have been secretly jealous of my husband's Sorels and finally got myself a pair. He uses his all the time, year round for yard work, Klondike camp outs, etc. I am size 9½, so ordered a 10, but returned them for an 11 and still had my toes pinched and squished (I am thin and do not have wide feet). I ended up getting the men's size 9 which fit perfectly, with a little wiggle room for my toes. My husband's pair are almost 20 years old and are the original ones and will probably last forever. The new ones have changed. I love the traction of the older ones. They are still good quality overall. I bought my son the "1964 Vintage" version that look more like the original, but still not the same quality as they used to be. However, I am still in love with my new boots! I leave them loosely tied so I can quickly slide them on to run outside and take care of the chickens or dump our trimmings to the compost bin. I am excited to get out there and work on the yard with my husband. I have no worries about snakes getting through this thick leather. I love the big, important clunk and weight of these boots. They are awesome!

Super warm, heavy duty, a bit clunky but don't have to worry about Chicago snow in these babies! The insert makes it nice and snug and without out, it's large enough for my husband to wear. It's like getting two boots for the price of one!

These boots are great to keep your feet nice and toasty. High quality boot. I am normally a size 9, so I ordered a size 9. 9's came and they were too big, so I got an 8. 8 was too tight. I wish Sorel made size 8 1/2... I had to take both back. :( Zappos.com has a great return policy!

I bought these for a December trip to Yosemite. There was little snow on the ground, but it was very cold hiking, and the boots were perfect. They kept me from turning my ankles as well. My feet were warm and toasty. I packed them in my suitcase with snow chains in checked bag!

I absolutely LOVE these boots! They're so well made, fashionably black, tough enough for the streets of NYC, super warm, and they will kick the butt of any blizzard! Bring it on, Mother Nature!!

I love the boots, I haven't worn them in the snow and cold yet, but even though they are not "frilly" the white fluffy part at the top does give it a bit of a feminine touch. I have big calves, and they fit lower than the Joan of Artic boot (which I thought made my leg look enormous; it is higher on the leg and all the fluff at the top !!!!!).

This is a preliminary review of fit and comfort, having just received the boots. I am a wide size 8. I ordered the boots in a size 8 because I plan on wearing them with thick winter socks, I was pretty sure a whole size smaller would be too narrow for my wide toes, and I would rather have my winter boots be a little roomy than too tight. I have found that too-tight boots do a poor job of keeping feet warm. These fit me very well. In the thin socks I wore today, my heels are not slipping out of place. I can wiggle my toes with ease. I think that with thick socks on, they will be absolutely perfect. People with narrow feet or people who are a half size might want to go down in size. The tops of the boots rub a bit on bare legs, but they will be fine with pants tucked into them or with tights on, I believe. They do not look trendy, but they do look classic.

I bought these boots out of necessity. A real Chicago winter is headed my way! The boots fit appropriately, and I am glad to know that the liner is removable for temp fluctuations. I have not needed to test their warmth, but I don't doubt Sorel. They are not cute, but they function well and the look could be, a lot worse!

Yes, they run larger (not longer but wider) than normal shoes. But considering they are snow boots, they run true to size. I ordered one size smaller after reading reviews, ended up exchanging to my regular size. Because they were too short and I could not wear any socks. I do not know if they last over the years since I have not worn them outside yet. But it's sad if it is true that Sorel has changed the material cheaper recent years, they do not last long. Anyway, happy with the product so far.

These are very comfortable, but they are a bit heavier than my previous pair. For the average person, the weight would probably not matter, but I wear mine every day for eight hours for work so it was more noticeable. Despite this they are very comfortable and warm.

Boots fit larger than they say so I ordered a size smaller than I normally wear (a 7 instead of an 8) and they fit perfectly. They were shipped very quickly and were exactly what I ordered. Loved this website, will order from Zappos again and again.

Sturdy. Warm. Great to wear to the ski slopes. Or on these cold, snowy, and slushy days.

Feet stay dry in these boots. The sole design makes for a very secure footing in the snow. They are high enough on the leg to prevent snow from slipping in, although this does affect their flexibility--not very. These are serious snow boots, not casual cold weather boots when you'd want more flexibility--very warm.
