This is a great boot. It's very comfortable. It's very clunky. I'm usually between a size 8 and 9. I purchased a size 9 - they are big with the lining in. I feel as though if I had purchased the 8 - they would have been too small to wear with thick socks and the lining. Without the lining, the size 8 would have been perfect. In conclusion - these need to be made in half sizes.

I live in Alaska, so I understand that conditions here are tough, but I have only had these one winter season (which is not over for us yet!) and the rubber has completely cracked and separated around the top part of the boot. So there is a gap several inches wide exposing the insulated boot on the inside, and ensures my boot fills with snow and my foot is not protected. My main use was on dog walks on flat, snowy trails. Same thing happening on other boot; cracks around toes but not fully separated yet. Overall, poor quality with no longevity.

I love SOREL Caribou boots. Plural because three pairs of boots have taken me through three decades. I've replaced multiple boot inserts with the furry tops that slip into the main leather boot, but the boots carry on. My first pair kept my feet toasty through a Colorado high country winter near Vail. My brother told me I needed SOREL boots because they would keep my feet warm and dry. And because that's what the locals wore in that mountain town in below-zero temps. At 40 below, I breathed through a wool scarf to filter the cold as I walked to work a short quarter-mile downhill, glad my feet were warm (ya cannot start a truck in that cold--oil is too thick). The second pair got me through snows in Nevada in the shadow of the Carson and Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe. I slogged through the small stables behind my cousin's Reno home and threw hay to her horses. Adventures followed in snow and mud and muck and desert washes. By the third pair, I'd moved back to Utah along the Wasatch range, and my feet were warm while standing on a sheet of packed snow and ice all day loading beginners on a ski lift for one winter. And through city storms and country miles in Southern Utah and then three winters in a tiny town called Santaquin where I freelance edited online for ad agencies and scattered birdseed for wild birds after packing down snow underneath the feeders. And now it's time for the fourth pair. Wonder what I will do in this new decade, in my new boots with their clean new inserts, with new dreams. One thing I know. My feet will be warm and dry.

For size reference, I’m a true 8 and I always order an 8.5 with Sorels because I wear super thick wool socks with my winter boots. I do not agree that they run large, unless maybe you are wearing a thin cotton sock. I personally love these boots. I live in Colorado and warm boots are a must. I find these to be just as warm, but much lighter than the Joan of Arctic style. I’m confused by the other reviews. These are boots geared towards being in snow and are rated for -29*. They are not going to be chic, fashionable, lightweight boots to just wear out on the town. They are meant for being out in snow and super cold weather. If you are getting a snow boot for -20* weather, it’s going to be a little clunky. However, compared to other winter boots, these are pretty good looking and nice.

My husband has a pair of Sorel's, that I always "borrowed" when I had to go help shovel; they were more comfortable than my snow boots (another brand). I finally decided to purchase a pair of Sorel's for myself, and after a nice little snow storm, and lots of shoveling, I am very pleased with my purchase. They are comfortable to walk in, provide good traction, and kept my feet warm and dry.

These boots are an investment, but well worth it. They keep your feet warm and dry all day, and they have great traction.

Let's face it - the northeast has had its worst winter in more than a decade. I ordered these boots for slogging through snow and slush, over ice, and wading through the resulting puddles brought by the occasional thaw. They are perfect--my feet have stayed warm and dry. Mind you, each of them weighs as much as a small child, and they are less than beautiful, but they've been a lifesaver this winter.

I have had these boot for about 3-4 years. I only really wear them during snowy days, so I estimate I have worn them about 20 times and now there is a 1.5 inch crack on the rubber near the big toe. The crack goes through and, of course, render the boots not waterproof and pretty worthless. I really have not worn these boots enough for this problem to happen. Reading other reviews this seems to be an issue with many others too.

I love my Sorel's. I have three pair from zappos! the Caribou is perfect height to jump into with anything from skinny jeans to ski pants with wider leg openings as the height fits under or over pant leg the boots are water resistant, super warm and 'throw back' cool.

Wore these for 10 days in northern Norway and Sweden last January, and my feet never felt cold or wet. They are a bit bulky so it takes a minute to get used to them. I see a few comments about them feeling too big and filling the extra room with thick socks, but the trick is to have some extra room in the shoe. Your body heat will warm the air inside the shoe and keep your foot warmer. As for the style, I guess some may not consider them stylish, but I really like how they look. Came back to buy another pair in a different color because I love them so much!

So, I'm one of those lucky people who are between sizes. ? I wear an 8 1/2 in most things and a 9 is others. I ordered both sizes in this boot and they both fit well but I chose the 9 because I wanted the little bit of extra air space in them for warmth. I have found that my feet stay much warmer if there is space around them rather than having a snug fit. I wore these boots snowmobiling yesterday and my feet were nice & warm. These look and feel well made and I like the thicker sole they have. They are comfortable with no pinch points or lace-bite and I don't feel like I'm walking in ski boots; they flex just fine even though they're not broken in yet. They are definitely not dainty, cutesy, look-at-how-underdressed-I-am-in-this-weather footwear. These are legit, shovel the driveway, ice fishing, I'm-going-to-be-outside-for-a-while boots. I love the buff/black color combo. It's stylish and kinda retro-cool. Overall, I expect to get many years of wear out of these even though I live in Duluth, MN by Lake Superior and we have just about the worst weather anywhere!

After ordering so many other styles of Sorel's and other brands I kept these. They were true to size and the lace-up option were great for my bigger calves. They also look so cute on. The other Sorel's style (I think the Torefino) was not as cool looking in person.

These boots are heavy duty snow boots - great for doing outside work! They keep my feet nice and warm when I am out in the Virginia mountain snow. They are nice to wear when shoveling snow because they have good grip on the bottom. I fantastic outdoor, cold weather boot! They were a little heavier than I thought, but that is what makes them both waterproof and warm. I normally wear a 7.5 but had a more comfortable fit with an 8.

I ended up going with tried and true Sorel for travel in rural Alaska. While I loved the lighter, sexier, Patagonia Lugano Lace boot, I knew I needed a super rugged boot for -40. Also, I can replace the felt lining. Bought my first pair in 1986.

I have yet to take these out but it's already love. Bought a few pairs of boots to try...many were cuter but these are the true winner! So plush, so cushy, so toasty, and so functional! They're not cute. They make me look like Bigfoot. But with a Montana winter coming up, who gives a rodent rump? They feel well constructed and I'm looking forward to getting at least 4 or 5 long snowy winters of backcountry stomping and cleaning off the car!

These boots are the best snow boots hands down: total classic, cool styling. My feet have never been cold or wet in these despite stomping through snow piles and slush puddles. The only complaint is sizing. I'm an 8 or 8.5 usually. The 8 is just a tad too small, but the 9 is enormous. I ended up going with the 8 because I love the boots, and I just trip over myself in the 9. I wish they came in half sizes.

I’m not sure how these are going to work out yet. They feel very snug and it’s not cold enough to try them out. I know from years of experience that boots which are too tight will cut off circulation and defeat the whole purpose of wearing warm boots. Note: I own another pair of Caribous in the same size- 8- that are HUGE on me. Sorel lacks consistency in sizing. Photo shows the two pairs side by side.

These boots seem way too big for the sizing. I usually wear 8.5-9, and ordered 9s to wear with thick socks. I had a good 1.5 inches at the toe and they felt sloppy even laced tightly. Photo shows difference w size 9 rain boots. Because of snow in our area this item was not delivered until 15 days after I ordered it, so smaller size was sold out. Will return and I guess buy in a brick and mortar store next winter.

I live in Minnesota so I need actually warm and legitimately waterproof boots. These are both for sure. Literally warm feet after snow blowing for an hour at -22F. No exaggeration. Also very comfortable for boots, easy to wear all day with no issues.

Great boot. High quality. Wide toe box. Solid insulation. Heavy. Not for athletic endeavors. Looks great, stays warm, perfect for sledding, spectating, or a walk in the snow.

Just bought this boot and am so happy I made the splurge to finally get a pair of Sorel boots. They are warm and roomy and comfortable! I agree they are a bit large/clunky, but you have to remember this is a SNOW boot. My mother has Sorels from the 70's that she still wears and swears by. I needed a boot that is durable and reliable for Midwest winters and this is exactly what I got. The caribou boot is a classic.

I've never purchased snow boots before and tried on several pairs at REI before ordering the Sorel Caribou through Zappos. I normally wear a 8.5 and have narrow feet. I purchased a 8.5 in this boot and it feels fabulous! Went snowshoeing through deep levels of snow for 3 hours and my feet were always toasty and warm. (I wore SmartWool's padded socks). The boots are a little bulky and heavy, but they did the job!

Very warm and comfortable! I usually wear a size 9 or 9 1/2 so I ordered a 9 and while it is a bit big, once I put on heavy socks it fits fine. They do make my feet look big, but they keep me warm and are well constructed, I foresee wearing these for a long time!
