I read about the break in period but I couldn't make it through. Had to return because they were so uncomfortable that my toes were numb within seconds of putting the boots on. I'm bummed to have had to return them cause I love the style of them.

Loved the deep cherry gloss on these boots. However, the cut of the boot fit me oddly. The length and width of the footbed was fine, but the vamp and the shaft were really large. Tightening up the laces as much as possible just accentuated the loose bulk. I don’t have narrow feet or thin legs. I know several people who absolutely love their Dr. Martens, so this boot just isn’t for me personally. However, I notice from reviews that the fit of this brand doesn’t seem to be very consistent. Returned

In black patent, these boots were cute, but distractingly squeaky. The soles were squeaky on normal floors, and the leather squeaked as I moved. Returning.

I had a few pairs of Doc Martens in the 90s and sadly these are not the same. :( I wear a women's size 8 in regular shoes so the first pair of 1460 W boots I ordered were a size 6. They felt at least a size too big. I had a lot of room in the front of the shoe, and in the back, my heel was lifting up and out of the shoe and I was sure that would cause a blister. Other than the fit, the quality seemed great on this pair, which were made in Vietnam. I returned those and ordered one size smaller (size 7) and they were too snug. I think that was probably closer to the right size for me and I would just need them to break in, but they felt tight and uncomfortable. I can't believe there was such a discrepancy between sizes! But this second pair I received seemed to be made of a much thinner, cheaper leather. When I checked under the tongue I saw this pair was made in China. There is definitely a difference in quality with the pair I had received earlier. And I don't think either pair compares to the quality of the docs I had in the 90s, which I wore daily for years, even in rain and snow, and they lasted forever. I'm grateful for the great Zappos return policy but sad that Doc Marten's quality seems to have declined so much.

I wear a size 9, and the 9M US/7UK was roomy but comfortable with thick socks. The sole was the expected Dr. Martens awesome support. The "leather" was not. This boot was made in Thailand, and while I searched for construction materials, I found none. As the material did not feel, look, or smell like leather, and it was not labelled as such, I'm guessing is was not. Back they go.

I have a high arch and wider feet, and the stitching cut into the top of my foot. I've worn Docs since the 90s, but these felt lighter and more cheaply made than the previous versions I've owned, despite being more expensive.

I SO wanted to love these boots. I loved the style when they arrived - I ordered the Black Patent Lamper (I'm a 9.5 and I ordered the 10 and they felt fine. A little roomy with thin socks but perfect with thicker socks). The problem with these boots, and why I ended up sending them back, is the patent material rubs against itself and SQUEAKS with every step. The patent tongue rubs against the inside of the lace holes which are surrounded by the patent material, and the squeaking sound is just terrible. I was so disappointed because I have always wanted black patent Dr. Martens and this new women's style is so much nicer than the men's, plus they are comfortable - but alas, I had to send them back due to the squeak factor :( If you are ordering the regular leather material you probably won't have this issue.

Listen...I've had Docs for years. I love them. I'm virtually an evangelist of Saint Doc. So when I saw these shoes, I almost threw up with excitement. Then I got them. First, the photos aren't an accurate representation of their color. (Yeah, I know monitors vary...blahblahblah.) In the pictures they look bright silver. In reality, they're much darker with a coppery color under the silver. That's awesome if that's what you're looking for, but I wanted silver Docs. The big problem - and the reason why I'm returning them - is the quality, or the lack thereof. I've owned a pile of Docs. The old skool Docs...crazy good quality. The newer ones...not the same, but still good. These? Awful. They look and feel like rain boots for kids. Extremely flimsy. They look and feel cheap. If I found these at $40, I'd be thrilled. At this price I felt like someone just robbed me. They look cheap on your feet, too. My wife said the same thing. She said it was hard to believe they're Docs. I agree. If you're into silver-but-not-really-silver boots that are super flimsy and feel cheap, you'll love these. If you want actual silver boots that look and feel like real Docs, you'll cry when you open the box. I was hoping these boots would completely my superhero uniform, but no self-respecting superhero would put this flimsiness on their feet.

this was very, very uncomfortable! I thought it would provide me with stability as I wear ankle brace temporarily due to ankle break, but NO! It was hard to put on and take off. It was VERY uncomfortable. I will return.

Bought my normal size, couldn't even get my feet in. I couldn't say if it was comfortable because it was way too small.

The ankles were very narrow at the stitching. The toe box was way too wide. I returned these weeks ago. Still waiting for my refund.

These came in an unmarked box, one a size 6 UK, and the other. Size 8 UK. Same boot, I think, but two different sizes.

In a word, rigid. I saw the reviews about the break in period. Remember the days of having to wash Levi's 6 times before you could wear them? No longer necessary. There is no reason, with today's technology, why there should be a break in period for shoes. A good pair of shoes should be comfortable out of the box. I knew this, but chose to ignore the reviews because I needed a good pair of boots that would hold up walking and standing on concrete. I'm not willing to wear these around the house for several weeks in the hopes that they loosen up and become the shoes I paid for. Sending back, ordered Keens.

What a disappointment. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have listened to the negative reviews regarding the quality of these boots. But since there seemed to be more positives than negatives, I decided to go ahead and order a pair. I was especially thrilled because they had the cherry color that reminded me of a pair of oxblood shoes that I once had. In person, these boots looks so cheap. I expected them to be like a patent type of cherry red but instead it looked like a cheap version of synthetic leather and the coloring was ridiculous. Even the leather feels super thin. I figured I would try them on since I could always exchange for a different color. Yet another disappointment. The shoe towards the bottom of the tongue cut into the top of my foot and the shoes definitely felt like they were going to need some breaking in. However, with the boot quality being what it was, I did not feel like it was worth my time or the blisters that I would most likely endure. I owned a few pairs of Docs back in the day and miss them terribly. Those were great quality shoes and the leather was real leather. It didn't look and feel like some cheap knockoff. I have to say I was shocked at the quality of these boots when I think back to what they used to be. If you used to own a pair of Docs from back in the day, you too will be yearning for those just like me. Hopefully the company will come around and improve this once great shoe.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! Reviews led me to believe these were leather and in fact they are a thin canvas. Correct length but VERY tight across instep. Folks with high arches beware. Definitely going back.

My daughter picked these shoes, I agreed that they were very cute, when we received them right on the toe was a boy looking at a girl with a bubble over his head that said, "come on just a quick feel" really? Kind of inappropriate Dr. Marten. Love all of the other marks on the boots, but thought you went too far here!

This boot has some fairly negative reviews but I still decided to take a chance. Mistake. Cute, but before I even put one on, I was extremely disappointed in the material. It's best described as a coated, pliable cardboard. I got them for motorcycle riding but didn't think the toe would last through gear shifting or even worse, provide any protection. I know it's more of a "fashion" boot but even for that, these weren't worth the cost. I really expected more from Docs. Back to Zappos and my quest continues. (In all fairness, I can't adequately judge the fit.)

A horrid quality! Feels like cardboard. We love Dr. Martens but this was a huge disappointment! This cost for a cardboard shoe.
