The shoes are very comfortable but don't seem to go with many pants. Maybe it is the kind of pants I have though. I have only worn them a few times since I bought them. But they look nice when the occasion is more than casual.

Almost right -
I wish Earth would make their shoes just a smidge wider. I like the way these are easy to stand in all day but they and my other earth shoes give me a callous next to my little toe unless I leave extra slack when I tie/velcro them on. Also they could use a smidge more arch support. They really aren't designed for wide feet or high arches.

Funny shoe, nice fit -
Although I can fit into a medium width shoe, I find that it is more comfortable to get a wide width shoe when standing for extended periods. I purchased the wide version just in case, and was glad I did. The shoes are very comfortable for both walking and standing. I did (like another reviewer) find the flap of leather on the back of the heel to be uncomfortable on the first day of major wear, but simply bent it back and forth repeatedly with my thumbs and it didn't hurt anymore. Big downside for me is it is SUCH a low shoe that some of my nicer pants touch the floor with it. That's a function of my long pants though, not the shoe. I have 2 pairs of Danskos and actually find this shoe more comfortable for both short and longer periods (when standing/walking -- any shoe is fine sitting!). I did not experience leg pain or have trouble getting used to how the shoe sits. My husband thinks they are ugly, but they are comfortable!!

This is a very comfortable shoe with a good arch support. I'm a teacher and I spend all day on my feet. I like that your heel is lower than the front of your foot. I've noticed that my heels hurt a little bit after a long day, but they feel much better than when I wear my other shoes. As far as the appearance though. I bought the camel color, and after 3 weeks they look as though I've had them for years, the leather is all scratched and worn.
I expect more from $90 shoes.

It's my feet, not the shoe -
I bought the solar in both black and brown so I would have comfy work shoes. The shoes are comfy, and the "D" width is generous enough to accomdate lofty socks. The shoes seem to run a little long -- there's extra space by my toes. The toes on both pairs of shoes got scuffed the first day I wore them -- but I guess that it part of their charm. When I walk for a long time in them, the outer edges of my feet start to ache (by my small toes). I think this has something to do with my feet, so I'm not blaming it on the shoes. They're expensive shoes, but well worth it. You can even run in them for a stretch if you have to.

Improved my walking -
My doctor recommended that I try Earth shoes because of my complaints about Achilles pain; I have been very pleased with the improvement in abiltiy to walk and to balance. I had no trouble adjusting to the difference in the "negative heel technology" because the shoes help so much. I highly recommend them; however, I don't like the appearance as much.

Earth shoes with and without orthotics -
Think the look is great. Very cute "Dorothy" shoes as my husband calls them. I had read someone else’s review that they didn't have to wear their orthotics with these. But, I don't find that. Also, my right toe hits the end, but that could be my foot since the arch has fallen. I would try a 9 1/2 next time--especially when wearing a thick sock.
I'd also recommend:
try other earth shoes. wish i could recomend or hear of shoes that work great with orthotics.

I love these shoes -
I just recently discovered Earth shoes through Yoga Journal. I purchased two pairs in a half size smaller than normal, per someone's recomendation. Wrong, I am a true 9.5 and the 9.5 fits like a glove. Luckily Zappos has fabulous return policy. It took about two days to get used to the unique fit of the shoe. But once my body udjusted I fell in love. I have since purchased two other pairs (vision, cassandra)love them too. I bought the Solar in Camel twister, love the color it goes with everything, but the leather does not wear very well (the reason for my 4 instead of 5 stars)the toe area has become weathered looking from my small children occasionally stepping on my feet. Since it is a casual shoe that I love wearing with jeans I do not really care. Aside from that, a "perfect" shoe.

Unusual sole design is comfortable -
I was intrigued by this shoe because I read about its "heel down" positioning which is supposed to be good for your posture. My first reaction to the heel down aspect was that it felt awkward, but I quickly adjusted to it. It reminds me a little bit of cycling shoes, with heel down and toe up. The inside of the shoe is molded to fit your foot quite comfortably; it accommodated my normal arches well. I have bunions, and these shoes are wide enough to accommodate this too.
I bought these in the summer and tried to wear them without socks. This was not the most comfortable. Now that it's Fall, I'm wearing them with thin socks and they are more comfortable.
Mine are black. I must say the red shoes are a gorgeous shade of red-- I actually ordered all 4 colors because I thought I might keep multiple pairs. In the end I stuck with the responsible and serviceable black, and decided to wait to see if they were as comfortable as I hoped.
At this point I say they're OK, more comfortable than your average shoe, but I'm going to try some of Indigo by Clarks instead.

After the first day of wearing Earth shoes, my knees were a little sore. However, that was only for one day- so it takes about a day of full wear to get used to them. Comfort-wise, I love them. They really do help with lower back pain. The look is a little bit odd because they tend to curl up on the toes. Overall, I would buy more Earth shoes and recommend them.

One problem with this shoe: you can't wear it without socks. Your foot will stick to the leather inside and make a suction noise every time you step. What I'm trying to say here is, if you wear this without socks, you will be making a constant farting sound when you walk. Not pleasant. I plan on getting some insoles for mine so my feet won't stick anymore. But I have yet to wear these because of this problem.

Takes a while to get used to -
This is a cute shoe, but the square toe makes it look a little bigger than it actually is. It took me a little while to get used to the shift in posture while walking. The time I wore it for an extended period and did a lot of walking the balls of my feet were really sore. Now I feel like I am getting used to the way they feel. There are two things that bother me: the exposed velcro bit of the strap does catch on everything and ruins it (pants, skirts, and pantyhose), and when worn without stockings this shoe stains your feet (as a lot of other leather shoes do, by the way).

Good but not for lots and lots of walking -
I bought these shoes a few months ago and wore them walking all over Europe. I've traveled in the past and worn Birkenstocks but I felt that Earth shoes were comfortable, they had passed the on-my-feet-all-day test and so I gave these a try on this trip instead. Unfortunately they didn't make the grade for lots of walking lots of days in a row. My feet were killing me by the end of the trip and that's never happened to me with my birkenstocks. That said, these are really cute shoes and they are fine to wear on and off if you work where you stand on your feet a lot -- I just wouldn't suggest everyday with lots of walking.

I have only worn them a couple of times since I received them, however they are very comfortable. I would say they are a different fit and unless you try them on, it is hard to understand. They make my legs and back feel good though. Since I am a nurse I may order some more that are meant for work.

These shoes are super cute - lots of compliments. However, the back heel goes down instead of up (it's supposed to feel like you are walking on the beach) so it kind of makes your legs feel funny at first. Like you are walking unsteadily, but you get over it.

Red Shoes -
I was very excited to try Earth shoes after reading many reviews. The shoes made my feet hurt the first 2 days (breaking them in) and now 3 weeks later they feel great. I do wish the straps were longer but that is the only bad thing.

The first pair of this shoe was purchased from a retail store in my city. I liked the shoe enough to return to the shop and order another pair. That pair wasn't acceptable because the strap wasn't long enough--not enough of the Velcro surfaces touched. I ordered a pair from Zappos and they're up to snuff. Now, the only issue I have is the snagging of my stockings on the exposed Velcro. I think the shoe designer needs to go back to the drawing board. In the meantime, I look forward to the day when this shoe is available in navy blue.

These are awesome shoes...they work with everything. Very comfortable. I wear heels to work daily and I wore these several times the first week I received them. I highly recommend, especially if you have foot problems or other joint issues like me. I only buy sofft shoes from now on. They can be a smidge constrictive in the toe bed, but they will stretch. I order about a half size up to allow for comfort. Great shoes, great brand!

I had forgotten that Earth shoes are shaped so that your heels are lower than your toes. I just can't get used to walking this way. I would have to wear them exclusively to get used to it. The strap was way too long; looked gangly hanging off the side. I ordered white, which isn't a true white; it did not go with my white pants. So I had to return them.

Problem Heel -
I own many pairs of Earth shoes and LOVE them all, but this one was a different bird. The high heel back hit me where no shoe had ever gone before and it hurt instantly. A beautiful shoe for its type, but not wearable by me.

Disappointment -
I have two other pairs of Earth shoes that are incredibly comfortable, so I was surprised at how ill-fitting and uncomfortable this shoe was. It's too narrow and the arch isn't where it should be. And worse, it is so incredibly ugly--the toe just swoops up and I felt like I had duck feet. I bought them to wear to work, and they're so ugly, it was embarrassing. I gave them to my sister, who has narrow feet and wears them to do yard work.

Not worth the price -
My foot isn't terribly wide, but this shoe--even in a wide size--felt snug on my foot. My toes, especially my pinky toes, rubbed uncomfortably against the narrow toe box. The strap also fell in an uncomfortable place, right across the flexing part of the ankle. Overall, these shoes are okay, but not spectacular--probably not worth the high price.

Had to return -
Love the look, and would have loved the fit, but the little tab at the top of the heel rubs my foot. If it wasn't for that one thing, I wouldn't have returned the shoes. I don't think I should have to "break" in a comfort shoe.

Fit not quite right!
I am pleased with the look but will have to wear thin socks. I think the fit is my weird foot. My foot is higher on top than most people's. This is where it is snug.

This is my first pair of Earth shoes. I had hoped this will replace my Keen Mary Janes; wanted a more polished look. The negative heel is actually quite comfy. But the velcro is abrasive around the side of my foot, even after loosening and the back of the heel rubs me raw. When I wear socks it seems to do okay but now it takes away from the look of the shoe. I am disappointed in the shoe but ZAPPOS.COM is awesome!!
