These things keep my shoes in shape. My shoes are about 7-7.5 in size. I ordered the suggested size for them, and it takes a bit to put them in. I couldn't compare to see if the next smaller size would have been better, but I am not going to complain. Sometimes, the shape of your particular shoe may not match up, but then again it is hard to come up with a design that fits all. I have used plastic ones before, that aren't all that great, but work better with narrower shoes. I use these to keep my loafers in shape. I don't see how I could fit these into boots (?) as the name indicates.

These shoe trees are the best thing ever. I bought a bunch and loved them; when I went to buy more from Zappos, they were sold out in my size. Finally they got more and I stocked up. I have them for all of my shoes that are expensive. They do wonders in terms of keeping your shoes fresh (absorbing moisture), maintaining shape, and kind of ironing out the wrinkles from a day of wear (without stretching my shoes to be too big - I have narrow feet). My old shoes look better after having these in. I got the S and they fit into my size 6-6.5 shoes (even a pair of size 6 Toms that I washed and shrunk to more like a 5.5). I had some plastic shoe trees before that I never used and seemed cheap (even though I got them from a fancy shoe repair shop). These Woodlore cedar shoe trees feel like such a high quality.

These are not for boots. They are nice shoe trees but shouldn't be called boot trees. The item just fits down in the shoe part of the boot and don't help them stand without folding over. Big difference in the small and large size.

These run true to size in that the S fit into my size 6 boots perfectly and the cedar seems good quality, but I now realize I'm not a fan of this design. When I remove shoe trees from my boots I have to compress them a bit before pulling them up and out, which isn't a problem with the "pull loop" style but with these there's nothing to grab onto to compress them; all you can do is pull straight up, which grinds the back edge of the tree along the interior of my boot. Kept this pair and am using them in a pair of short ankle boots, but they're still really difficult to remove so won't be buying any more of this style in the future.

I bought these shoe trees to use in a pair of size 8 Merrell Tetra Strap boots, but they don't work very well. Because they are only a few inches high, they can only maintain the shape of the foot area. They do nothing for the ankle area of the boot. I also found they were too narrow/low in height at the front of the boot to fill it, so it could not fix the crease where my toes bend in the boot when I walk. I ended up putting them into another pair of shoes (a nice pair of leather shoes I use for interviews), and they do work fine for that. They are a little difficult to use the first couple of times, but they are very sturdy and well-built, and they do smell nice.
