Combination of comfort and style. A sandal that combines comfort and style that can be worn daytime for walking and sight-seeing. At night it can be worn dressy. Incomparable comfort.

This is my favorite shoe that I have ever owned. This was my first and only pair of Mephisto shoes and I recommend them for women with touchy, hard to fit feet. I wear mine often, they are about three years old, and still in terrific shape. They work well with suits, dresses, slacks, jeans, shorts, capris, and just about anything except your wedding or formal wear! They actually help energize me and I do need a second pair! I love these sandals!

Altima, A Fabulous Shoe - I have a problem with pain in the balls of my feet. In spite of that problem, the altima has been a fabulous, comfortable shoe. I can go for long walks, 6 (miles), wear to work, or just around the house. The style is pretty enough that I can wear them almost anywhere, which is sadly missing in any other sandals I have seen. I love this shoe. Thank you for this shoe! Please design other pretty sandals that are comfortable and good for the feet.

Fabulous comfort and better looking than expected!

French version - I bought the French version about 6 weeks ago on a visit to Montpellier. I've already more than gotten my money's worth; wore them sightseeing, on field trips with my archaeology class. The French version has a Velcro strap instead of the buckle, which I much prefer as I have a very narrow heel. I bought size 37, even though I usually wear a 38 (metric sizes) in a closed shoe.

Initially, I purchased the Altina in both brown and black, but the black did not fit as well as the brown. The straps were loose, and there is no way to tighten them. I was disappointed because I have had other Mephisto sandals, and they were a great fit. Even the brown sandal is slightly short on my size 12 foot, but the straps work well, and the sandal has good support. The customer service at Zappos is outstanding, and I will definitely purchase other items in the future.

Very comfortable shoe, but when I walk on our tile floors, the sole makes a horrible "squeak" with each step. Had to take them back.

I owned a pair of these several years ago that I wore constantly so much so that I wore them out! I am currently experiencing pain in my foot from plantar fascitis and thought a new pair would help. Unfortunately they did not help with this problem.

Easy-wearing sandals. I am not a sandal person, as I have never been crazy about my toes, but I needed something versatile to wear on a walking vacation. These were very comfortable. I had found a black pair in a neighborhood store, but I really wanted the neutral color. Zappos was a fantastic site to deal with. They had the color I wanted and the fit is perfect. I would definately shop here again. I love these shoes, and they are very forgiving if you don't have perfect feet.

Good for the long haul - This is a beautiful, well-made sandal that can be worn at home and at work. I find it to be a bit tight, but I am counting on the leather stretching a bit after I've worn them for awhile. One of the sandal's best features is its arch support. Most sandals are flat, and I find my foot aches after walking any distance. Since I walk 1/2 mile between my parking lot and my office a couple of times a day, being able to walk comfortably is of major importance to me. This is an extemely expensive sandal, but since I seldom find comfortable sandals that will survive the summer with daily wear, I felt justified in spending the money on a pair that I could wear for a long time.

The Ultimate Sandal - Mephisto's Altina - If I had to describe the perfect sandal, I would describe the black nubuck Mephisto Altina. Most importantly, from my viewpoint, it is incredibly comfortable. The footbed give excellent support to the arch forefoot, the ankle and heel straps stabilize the foot, and the soft nubuck is velvety and luxurious. But not only it is comfortable, it is extremely attractive on the foot. You can wear it with a business suit, or with jeans. The look is terrific. The drawback to this shoe is the high price, which puts it out of the reach of most people. But if you can afford it, it is one pair of shoes that you will never regret purchasing. Perfect!

I love Mephisto sandals, but not this pair. The foodbed is molded very differently from others I've worn. Though the sandal length and width was fine, the arch support hit too far along my foot to be comfortable. They look beautiful, but would be a pain to wear. And at this price, they need to fit better.

This is a good looking sandal, although appears to be overpriced in comparison to other brands. My Propet Breeze Walkers are more comfortable, although a bit more casual looking, at a more economical price. The materials of the shoe don't appear much different than other lower cost brands, but I am hoping that the shoe quality and longevity will justify the cost.

I bought a pair of these shoes because I have had a good history with Mephisto. Within 3 months, the leather strap on the back had ripped. Mephisto told me to take them back to the store where I bought them (4 hours' drive), and that they were responsible only for factory defects. You must be joking--3 month's wear on a pair of sandals at this price? That's the last pair of Mephistos I buy.

The sole and footbed of this shoe is wonderful. However, I have to return it because the straps across the big toe dig into my skin and are painful (bunion). I love the look and feel of the shoe otherwise.

When shoe is right for your foot, it is immediately apparent to feet and eyes the minute you try it on. This is my fourth pair of this shoe. Thank you Mephisto. Please never discontinue this model. Now that I found the perfect last for my foot, Mephisto shoes that incorporate the same last always work, even via mail order. Returns are easier than in-store returns. Thanks, Zappos.

These are terrific. I purchased them to wear while touring India and they were undoubtably perfect. Comfortable and stylish.

This shoe is worth every penny it cost. It's supportive, but light. I have narrow heels, a bunion, problems with both big toenails, and nothing hurts in these shoes. I love them.

So comfortable! These gorgeous sandals were very comfortable right out of the box. No break-in time necessary. They are so worth the money. I tried Birkenstocks because of the adjustability and the look but they were so uncomfortable that I had to give up. The Mephisto is perfect!

I purchased a pair of these 10 years ago. Yes, that's correct, 10 years ago! And only until last year did I need to replace the soles with the company. These sandals had walked many thousands of miles and visited by different places. And still fit comfortably after a broken foot. Leather is still holding up after all these years. When I first purchased them I didn't pay as nearly as much as they are now, but I would purchase them again now new knowing that they'll hold up that long. And this style has the buckle which I prefer rather than the cheap velcro some of the other styles have.

I bought these because I absolutely love the Mephisto low boots I bought last year. These sandals are beautiful and SO comfortable on your foot! I loved the luxurious natural leather color - so attractive on your foot. Unfortunately, I have horrible bunions on both feet and the straps, even though they are wide, and cover most of the inside of my foot at the toe joint, rub the top of the bunion on my right foot to the point where they almost hurt. I know they will stretch with time, like my boots, but I am worried that I wouldn't wear them enough to get them comfortable, and they would sit in the closet. I really wish they came in a Wide! Sadly, I am returning them.

I have had this shoe in black for at least 10 years - resoled once, love it. So happy to have a snazzy version! The metallic material does not give as much as the black, so folks might want to go up a half size.

So I ordered these through Zappos 13 (!) years ago - first time ever mail order shoes - and loved them all this time. Great comfort, fit, look and durability. But finally, starting to wear on the heels and just looking tired. I couldn't bear to part with them until...I couldn't believe the exact same shoe was still made and Zappos carried them! I have a long foot and narrow heel. This shoe is remarkably comfortable, and fits to perfection. This is my second pair. The first pair I finally put to rest after many years, including many miles walking all over during world travels. It's a stable, supportive well made sandal that will last for years.
