I love these sandals! I started wearing them several years ago and now buy a replacement pair annually -- they're the only sandal I wear all spring, summer and into fall. They are very comfortable right out of the box, and work dressed up or down. I suppose my only complaint would be that as they age, I find it's harder to walk on uneven surfaces in them because sometimes I'll slide off of the shoe. (I find they loosen up in a way that simply tightening the strap doesn't really solve.) But that's truly a minor complaint -- this is hands down my favorite sandal!

After playing several rounds of shoe bingo with Birkenstock Gizeh & Mayori, these Mephistos are the best. I have a stress fracture & neuromas and must wear these type of shoes for awhile. I am usually a 6.5 or 7 and found both the Gizeh and Mayori to run a little too small in the 36 & a bit too big in the 37. I also have a high arch. I kept the Black Patent Mayori with the toe ring because it wasn't so painful in the arch. The Gizeh hurt between my toes & rubbed my outer foot in the wrong places -- that being said, I still liked them better than the Mayori, but the toe-ring shoe felt better. Zappos was out of my size (37) & color in the Helen Mephisto, so I had to find it locally. The foot bed is not as arched & it is much more comfortable than the Birkenstocks (both styles). The straps are comfortable & not as stiff as the Birkenstocks. Width-wise they fit me without rubbing the side of my sensitive left foot. I tend to run narrow, and these are perfect. As another reviewer stated on some of these type shoes, they tend to feel like you're walking on a plank, but if I had a redo on the caboodle of the shoes I've tried, my vote goes to the Mephisto Helen for more overall comfort, less break-in and ability to wear out of the box; if you can wear the Birkenstocks they're probably more stylish. And, as always, my vote goes to Zappos for great customer service and selection.

I love my new shoes! They fit perfectly and look great! I bought them because I have planters fasciitis and the support these provide is great! They are a tad on the small size so order larger than you normally do.

Had bought and returned Birkenstocks. Very disappointed. After reading other poor Birkenstock reviews the Mephisto Helen was mentioned as a better option. And read a lot of reviews about the Helen Plus and decided to just go with the Helen. Best sandal ever. No real break in time. I put a little oil on the toe piece just to make sure it did not rub a blister but really was not an issue.

I own six pairs of these and will buy more in the future. I have wide feet in the toe box area, but with these shoes a medium fits just perfectly. The cupped edge helps to keep you foot firmly in the foot bed and the arch support is divine! They are the most comfortable show I have ever worn. I use my old ones in the garden or to take the dog for a walk and in the winter I wear them with toe socks. I have my eye on the dark green ones.

Love these shoes! I have flat feet and was having trouble with shin splints and arch pain. These have helped remedy that problem. Also, for comfortable shoes, they are super cute. I have them in black and also that tan/gray color, too, and I wear them all the time.

Love this shoe and having been purchasing it in a variety of colors for several years. EXCELLENT arch support and my go-to summer shoe choice. The angle of the strap from the toe over the top of the foot is very flattering. Also, Zappos is a fabulous company with excellent customer service!

Comfort shoes are back in! This Mephisto was my way of embracing the trend while getting good arch support and a little pastel python pizazz. The shoe has a slightly padded footbed (I think more than Birkenstock) and the strap across the top of the foot is adjustable. They took minimal breaking in- I'm super pleased.

When trying to replace the no longer made black Naot Tahoe, I ordered this sandal, along with a black Birkenstock thong model and a Tahoe in brown. This sandal is perfect! Had it been uncomfortable, I would have settled for the brown Naot...I still love the style and fit of the Naots. But this model in black is actually more comfortable which I thought impossible. The Birkie was a sad third place.

One afternoon my neighbor arrived and had on these shoes. Although I had plenty of shoes like these, there was something so unique that I raced to my computer and ordered myself a pair. They fit perfectly, and were so comfortable that I wore them all day while shopping. The reviews helped make my decision to have a pair of them. The fit (size 5) was perfect...perhaps, because I have worn this type of shoe for years, the transition was easy, and I have received compliments from people I don't even know. They're great for showcasing my bright summer nail polish!

The strap that fits between my toes is the not bothersome at all, I thought it might be. It keeps sandal snug yet very comfortable when walking. I have a high arch and these work perfectly.

LOVE the shoes, but almost returned them. I have narrow, flat feet and had to have another hole punched in the band to hold my foot. The strap now goes ALL the way to the base of the shoe, but doesn't drag.

I love these shoes. I have a very narrow foot and they fit perfectly. What impressed me the most was Zappos customer service. I ordered a size 8 and had to return them for a size 9. I packed them up entered the return information that same morning and received the size 9 shoes the next afternoon couldn't believe the turn around service.

Very comfortable shoe, very good support, very nice looking. I am frequently getting compliments on the shoe. Can wear the shoe with many different outfits.

Okay. This is a review comparing my new Mephisto shoes with my Birkenstocks. I ordered these shoes a few weeks ago and they are the perfect summer slip on: comfortable, stylish, easy to get on and off. When you first try on and compare Mephistos to Birkenstocks, the Mephistos feel more comfortable. However, I would say that, after a few weeks, the Birkenstocks wear in better and get more comfortable whereas the Mephistos stay pretty much the same, in fact the leather that has contact with the bottom of your foot becomes less comfortable. If the Birkenstocks had looked as good on my feet (ah, vanity!), I would be inclined to return to Birks from now on. But in general, they are both awesome shoes. The question is how well the Mephistos will weather time. I have had one pair of Birks for 15 years and they are going strong.

I am 48 and have been looking for comfortable & stylish sandals for the last several summers. Finally, I discovered these! After a couple days of light wear to break them in (the patent leather is a bit rough initially), I can wear these to the fair, farmers market, kids activities -- basically all weekend! I have relatively flat feet from age, long distance running, babies...these are soft & firm & have support in all the right places. Well worth the price! The only thing that I don't like is that the foot bed is a pretty light color & looks dirty after just a few wearings.

I love these sandals. Very comfortable. I had to order a larger size because they do run small. Zappos was a pleasure to work with. No hassle returns & my credit card was credited promptly. Very happy.

These are my FAVORITE sandal on the planet! I think they made them especially for my feet. I have them in every color (well almost) and wear them everywhere... even to work as I own my own company I decide the dress code. We live in Florida, so I can almost wear them year round. However, when I have to go on business trips and I have to wear other shoes, my feet get really upset. Yes, that's how much I LOVE the Mephisto Helen. I also love the awesome customer service provided by Zappos. I order them one day and I have them on my feet the next day. They are so efficient. It's what I strive for in my own company. Zappos also gets FIVE STARS.

These sandals are a dream! I was concerned about the toe portion of the sandal and I had nothing to worry about. The leather is very supple and therefore molds to your foot and does not rub. I have worn these shoes every day since they arrived and I love them!

Love these sandals. I usually wear orthotics and my feet feel great in these sandals without. Supportive foot bed and cool print too.

This is a great shoe. The arch support is excellent. The shoe looks very sexy and very comfortable. This is first shoe I can where with out any arch support. Just make sure to order a half size larger

The most comfortable shoe I've ever had. The blue boa is gorgeous and I receive compliments every time I wear them. Love these!

My second pair of the Mephisto Helens. Great fit and very comfortable. I ordered my daughter a pair. Her feet are flat and narrow. They are working great for her. These shoes seem to work for all feet. Zappos' delivery system is unbelievable. I ordered one day and they were delivered the next and I live in a rural area.

Fifth pair of Mephistos (third of this style, different colors). Been wearing Mephistos for twenty years. Great comfort, super arch support. I'd really like five more pairs (but don't need them). They do not cause leg fatigue like flat sandals. I like that I can tighten the buckle as they do stretch a bit with wearing.
