I just want to update my review of the Helen. I was so excited about the look of the sandals that I immediately wrote a review, but after I read the manufacturer recommendations on the shoebox lid, I had to return them for a larger size. Mephisto wrote that the best fit needs approximately 6-7mm of sandal in front of your toes and the same amount of footbed behind your heel. After the initial excitement of looking at the Helen in sand cobra (it is truly glam!) on my feet, I realized that the size 9 (I normally wear 9½) was too small as there was not enough footbed in front and behind my feet. By the way, I know the size of 7mm-it is the width of my wedding band and a little bigger than a 1/3 of an inch. I love absolutely love Zappos! I ordered the size 10 Helen the same evening I got the too small size 9 and got the 10 the next day! Of course, I returned the size 9 with a quick and free mailing label from Zappos from my printer. To reiterate, a size 9 would take a size 9, a 9½ would take a size 10. If you are a half size, order up, not down. These sandals are stunningly beautiful!

I selected these shoes during a search for summer sandals that I can walk in and I'm happy to say I like them so much that they've become fall sandals that I can walk in! I wear prescription orthotics (to correct overpronation) in regular shoes and have to go without them in sandals. These sandals have enough arch support and hold on my feet, thanks to the adjustable strap, that I am comfortable for long days of walking. On the style side: I tried similar Birkenstocks and Tevas and I found the Mephistos to be more feminine and less chunky in appearance.

Oh my God - most comfortable shoe ever! I have plantar fasciitis and need really good arch support. I wear Dansko's exclusively just for that reason, but couldn't find a cute thong, weekend, type sandal. I read other reviews and got this sandal, and it was heaven from the 1st time I put it on! It did rub between the toes on just my right foot at first, but not enough to stop wearing it. I use this cute blue sandal for weekends, around the house, in the garden, with capris, shorts, skirts. My heels never hurt anymore. I can not stress how comfortable these shoes are, and they are cute! I wear a 39 in Dansko and the 39 here fit, I did have to tighten the strap a bit and am glad that it is adjustable.

I’m pretty disappointed with these shoes. So many highly rated reviews and I expected more from Mephisto brand and this price point. The style itself is very cute and versatile, and looks great with jeans, leggings, shorts or a dress. Unfortunately after only four months of wear (mild activity, a few days a week) - they already have a big crack in the cork just below the ball of the foot, and the soles are already worn so much that I doubt they’ll hold up for very long. Boooo! I wear size 6.5 in sandals and originally bought both the size 38 and 39. I liked the snug fit of the smaller size better, but based on the instructions to size up for half sizes I kept the larger shoe. It has stretched so much that my foot moves around a lot, even with the tightest buckle. I do not care for the fit with the extra length and would have preferred to stick with the smaller size. I’ve recently bought and been wearing Birkenstock Gizeh and like them so far. Mephisto Helens were more comfortable right out of the box, but with this poor quality I most likely won’t be buying them again.

The most comfortable sandals you'll ever buy. I have wide feet and a very high instep and after having foot surgery this is the only sandal I can wear. Great arch support. Lots of great color options. After a while they loosen up but that's no problem because you can just adjust the strap! I've worn Mephistos for years; however, since my surgery I've had to switch from the Ularia to the Helen. Mephisto sandals are the best and last forever. It's just a matter of finding the right one for you!

I love these sandals! However, why do my feet always stink after wearing them? I have 4 pair and change them out daily. I feel like they are good for a year and then I have to get new pairs because of the odor. It happens with my Naots as well, so it must be my foot interacting with the cork. I don't even wear them in the winter! Does anyone else have this problem? Thank you! Really appreciate any suggestions!

This is my favorite summer shoe of all time. I wore my last pair for 7 years and then replaced them. It's like a Birkenstock, only narrower, softer (the sole has air cushions) and more flattering. You don't have that feeling of walking in swimming flippers that you get with Birks. And people actually complement me on the style, including my dad who normally hates all 'comfortable' looking shoes. Worth the investment.

Between arthritis, plantar faciitis, achilles tendonitis, etc., it's been a long time since I've been out of my Spira walking shoes for more than a few minutes at a time. My orthopedic surgeon's nurse turned me on to Mephisto. She wears them religiously. I can actually wear my Helens the whole day long. They fit like a glove. The engineering of the arches and heels provides the support and stability I need.

The footbed is VERY comfortable and I really liked the blue metallic leather. However with the first wear the leather is cutting into the second toe on my left foot. A band aid stops the pain. I'm hoping that with more wear the leather will soften up.

Great shoe, comfortable right out of the box. For sizing help I am a 7-7.5 in shoes and a 7.5 in running shoes and I ordered the size 38. They fit just like they are suppose to.

Mephisto, in general, is the most comfortable shoe out there. I must have at least 15 pairs of the style Helen alone. When I go on vacation that's all I take. You can walk in them all day and no pain. I wish they would come with yellow and orange so I can purchase those too!

I purchased a pair of these shoes 15 years ago and LOVED them. They were ruined in a freak rainstorm/flash flood, so I decided to replace them. I read the reviews that said they run small and thought that they must have changed the design a bit, so I ordered a size up - they do not run small, I should have stuck with my original size. The slightly large size wasn’t enough to make me send them back, though, because they are still super comfy, and really cute. The paten leather gives them a more dressy look to wear with dresses on our hot Arizona days. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the leather. I had worn the shoes no more than three times when the leather began to crack and crumble. I am hoping this was a fluke and have ordered an exchange. For the price of these shoes, you expect them to last much longer - especially disappointing when my last pair lasted over a decade. I will update my review when I see how the second pair performs.

I've been wearing the Helen style for about eight years now and won't wear anything else. They are a great investment and don't wear out like other sandals. I can be on my feet all day and my feet never hurt -- great foot bed and high arch supports. I have these in black, brown and white to go with everything in the warm months. They do run a little small -- order up a half size.

Well, I have pretty wide "Yoga feet". I knew I was taking a chance with a medium width (sometimes it works), but these were too narrow for me. The length was fine (I'm an exact 6.5 US) but my pinky toes hung over the side ledge of the foot bed and the side rise of the foot bed dug into the sides of my feet.. Additionally, I'm a "barefoot" shoe wearer - my running, hiking and other walking shoes are "barefoot style" so all the arch support and bumps and rises in the foot bed tend to be really annoying to me. The metalic shine of the straps was really metallic. It was shinier than I was expecting just fyi... The photo portrayed more of a subtle rose bronze quality instead of shiny shiny metalic bronze. Perhaps the color just wasn't good for my skin tone, but for some reason it wasn't what I was expecting. Shoe seemed very well made and as long as you have a narrow to medium width this should work well for you.

Mephisto helen sandals never disappoint me. I have several foot pain issues. Heel pain is on top of the list. Helen provides excellent arch support and a lift to my heels which makes standing and walking easy for me. They are stylish and worth spending the $$$. Highly recommend if you want a comfortable and stylish sandal. And did I mention how great Zappos is!!!!!!

I absolutely LOVE these sandals! The top strap makes the sandal snug to my foot, not too tight, so I’m not worried about it slipping off when I walk. The cork bottoms immediately started forming to my foot as soon as I wore them, there wasn’t the 2-3 day walk of pain and blisters while the sole got acclimated to my foot as I was expecting. The support of these sandals is almost unbelievable- they are SO comfortable. I don’t think I’ve ever worn a sandal that was so supportive. Definitely worth the money! I highly recommend!

Love these Sandals. Size was as expected. They were comfortable right out of the box. I have plantar fascitis and they made it possible for me to wear sandals again!

This was a great shoe that had a wonderful arch support. Shiny leather was a fun look. My big toe was just not a good fit with this shoe. Super quality. A+ for Zappos!

I swear I was never going to do the earth mom look. but after Cambodia Temples and broken Vietnam streets, I needed support and overall functionality. No break in required. 8½ in these equals 9 in other shoes.

Consider the Helen Plus if you have a wide foot. I have a slightly wide foot and found the Helen to be too narrow. The footbed does seem very comfortable.

I absolutely love these! However, I had to return previous pair due to size. I wear a 6 and the 36 was too long! So I ordered this pair a size smaller, not larger or even my normal size.

Simply the best foot-cradle sandals... I own several colors, and keep coming back to add to my 'wardrobe'! I wear a US size 8, but find that the EU size 39 works best for me in these sandals, as my foot sits comfortably within the 'rim' of the footbed. Excellent value, considering the anatomical design, comfort, and durability. Can walk for hours!

Love, love these sandals. Great foot/arch support without looking to "nurse" the shoe... I am a half size so I sized down from 7.5 to 7 and fit great; no need to break them in. They were great from day one. I have a bad back so I can't wear flip flops; these have a great summer feel without giving up comfort and support. I own 4 pairs of these in different colors.

LOve these shoes. 38 is perfect size for my normal size 8 foot. These are NOT comfortable right out of the box. But I’ve found as other reviewers have said that a few days of light wear to break them in has made them more comfortable every day and I believe they’ll be perfectly comfortable in another few days. The style is very cute and dressier than Birks.

My new pair of Mephisto sandals arrived a day earlier than expected! Since leopard print is my all time favorite I HAD to add this years rendition to my collection. I love these sandals so much and I have happy feet as a result.
